    Two-Year Internship Programme - Human Resources Development

    Job description

    • The Intern will be expected to have a strong understanding of the Human Resources value chain from entry to exit.
    • They will develop Human Resources competencies and gradually provide increased support to colleagues in the department.
    • Namely, collating information and reports, providing administrative support, assisting with the arrangement and logistics for various programmes, workshops, meetings, and the HRD calendar of events.
    • Communicating with colleagues across the Division to determine HRD needs.
    • She/he will be exposed to Human Resources consulting and the provision of best practice processes regarding development programmes, change management, transformation and employment equity, organisational development, talent management, employee wellness and general human resources administrative duties.

    Job description

    • The incumbent will be expected to learn and develop a sound understanding of the Human Resources value chain from employee entry to exit.     Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Audiology - 6 positions

    Job description

    • The School of Health Sciences wishes to appoint an Academic who will contribute actively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning, research and community engagement. Candidates will also be required to do administration. 

    Minimum requirements

    General Minimum Requirements:

    • All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology;
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Audiologist;
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel and PowerPoint);
    • Valid code 08 driver’s license AND
    • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as an Audiologist.

    Minimum Requirements for Senior Lecturer:

    • A PhD Degree in a relevant discipline; 
    • Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field at the tertiary level;
    • Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level;
    • A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters’ and/or PhD levels, appropriate for the level AND
    • Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team.

    Minimum requirements for Lecturer:

    • A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline;
    • Experience in teaching and learning, and assessment practices in a relevant field. This encompasses clinical supervision in either academic or clinical setting
    • Evidence of involvement in community engagement programs.
    • A successful candidate at the Lecturer level will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years of the date of assumption of duty.
    • Specialization in vestibular assessment and management would be an advantage. Experience in student training and research supervision would be an advantage.

    Principal Technician - 6 positions

    Job description

    • The Aerospace Systems Research Institute (ASRI) within the School of Engineering, requires an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join our precision machine shop, working on complex components for aerospace and high-precision industrial applications
    • The incumbent must have strong understanding of GD&T and ability to work to tight tolerances, a self-starter who can manage production processes independently and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
    • The incumbent will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines (DN Solutions/Doosan or similar. S/he will also be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T callouts to produce parts to specification and maintaining tight dimensional tolerances (±0.01 mm or better). 
    • Further, s/he will be responsible for troubleshooting machining, tooling, and setup issues to optimise quality and cycle time and managing their own setups and workflow with minimal supervision.
    • In addition, the incumbent will perform in-process and final inspection using appropriate measuring equipment and maintain and care for machines, tooling, and workholding.
    • The incumbent be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in accuracy, problem-solving, and seeing a job through from drawing to finished part. 
    • Experience with precision/mould tooling, jigs, fixtures, or similarly exacting work will be an advantage.
    • The incumbent will report to the Senior Engineer of the Aerospace Systems Research Institute.

    Minimum requirements

    • Matric/N3 plus 3-year Mechanical Engineering qualification or Toolmaker Trade qualification

    Five (5)years experience which must include:

    • CNC machining experience, including demonstrated 5-axis programming and setup
    • Experience across multiple machine platforms (mills, lathes, multi-axis
    • Experience with Fanuc controllers
    • Proficiency in CAM software such as Fusion 360, Siemens NX

    Director: Business Engagement and Executive Education - 6 positions

    Job description

    • The Graduate School of Business and Leadership (GSB&L) seeks to appoint a Director: Business Engagement and Executive Education, a senior leader entrusted with shaping and driving the School’s executive education and short course enterprise. In close consultation with the Executive Director and Dean of the School, the Director provides strategic leadership for the entire executive education portfolio, ensuring that the GSB&L is positioned as a premier provider of executive learning locally and regionally.
    • The role carries substantial autonomy in determining strategic direction, setting priorities, and ensuring that all offerings are academically rigorous, market relevant, and financially sustainable, while remaining aligned with the School’s broader academic and institutional strategy.
    • Central to the role is the cultivation and stewardship of partnerships with business, government, and industry. The Director serves as the School’s principal ambassador in these engagements, identifying opportunities, negotiating collaborations, and converting relationships into sustainable, high impact programmes. This external facing mandate is complemented by an internal leadership role that spans programme design, client engagement, faculty coordination, and quality assurance. The Director oversees the full lifecycle of executive education and short course provision, ensuring that each offering meets the highest standards of academic integrity, operational efficiency, and client value. The Director maintains oversight of accreditation and quality processes, including the interface with QPA, supported by the Manager for Short Courses.
    • The Director leads the business development and sales functions of the executive education unit, setting revenue targets, guiding market strategy, and ensuring that the School’s portfolio remains responsive to emerging needs. The Manager for Executive Education provides operational support in these areas, but strategic authority rests with the Director, who determines the scope, scale, and direction of the School’s executive learning initiatives.
    • Beyond the GSB&L, the Director plays a pivotal role in strengthening the School’s integration with the wider University. The incumbent is responsible for establishing and deepening links with the Colleges, enabling the expansion of executive education and short course services across the institution. This University wide remit positions the Director as a key architect of professional and executive learning at UKZN, ensuring that the GSB&L serves as the central hub for such activity.
    • The Director reports directly to the Executive Director and Dean of the GSB&L and works closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Learning on matters of academic quality, programme innovation, and institutional alignment. As a member of the GSB&L Leadership and Management Team, the Director exercises delegated authority on behalf of the School and contributes to fulfilling Senate and Council mandates relating to external engagement, academic quality, and income generation.

    Minimum requirements

    • A relevant Master’s Degree.
    • A minimum of ten years’ experience in a training or education industry.
    • Significant experience, a minimum of 5 years, of growing a training business through concluding successful collaborations.
    • A good track record of a successful and sustainable approach to business development, working with colleagues and external stakeholders to deliver successful partnerships locally.
    • A successful profile recognised in business or an educational environment.
    • Strong financial acumen with proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management for programme-driven operations.
