    Social Media Specialist

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12;
    • National Diploma OR a three-year degree qualification at NQF level 6 in Media Studies/Journalism/Political Science/Communication;
    • 3 – 5 years relevant experience in Media Liaison or similar experience
    • Experience in Public Administration is an advantage;
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Primary Function:

    • Provide directions, develop and manage media relations between the Office of the Executive Mayor and the media, and proactively manage the relations between the Office of the Executive Mayor.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Execute the project planning process to inform the business unit of the business planning process;
    • Execute process optimisation and efficiency;
    • Execute media liaison functions;
    • Execute activities associated with the management and control of the assets and resources;

    Council Liaison Specialist

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate NQF level 4;
    • National Diploma in Political Science/Public Administration, related field or equivalent (NQF level 6);
    • 3 – 4 years of relevant experience, of which 2 years is in a professional capacity;
    • Knowledge of Legislature/Council operations;

    Director: Executive Support

    Minimum Requirements:

    • A Matric/Grade 12 Certificate.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Management or relevant qualification at NQF level 7.
    • 10 years’ overall experience, of which 5 years should be in middle management.
    • Proven track record of providing strategic support to an executive at a similar level.
    • Experience in supervising multiple, diverse service functions simultaneously with strong supervisory and team leadership skills.

    Primary Function:

    • To direct and lead the effective functioning of the support function to the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) by providing high-level strategic (and political) advice and counsel to the MMC by coordinating the implementation of the executive policy, developing, and managing the implementation of communications strategy (action plans) and managing key personnel in order to ensure the advancement of the MMC’s political programmes and strategy.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • To manage and provide strategic (political) policy support and advice to the MMC.
    • To enable and manage the implementation of the Executive Mayor’s Communication Strategy, i.e. the MMC’s functions.

    Assistant Director: Outdoor Advertising (BDM)

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Matric/Grade 12 with a Bachelor’s degree in Built Environment (eg Town Planning/Town and Regional Planning, Spatial Planning/architecture, civil/structural engineering/ quantity surveying at NQF level 7; 
    • 7- 9 years’ experience in the outdoor advertising environment 
    • At least five (5) years’ experience at management level 
    • Must have a valid driver’s license. 

    Primary Function: 

    • To provide strategic and operational leadership in the regulation, management, and control of outdoor advertising within the City, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, municipal by‑laws, and policy frameworks. The role is responsible for overseeing the assessment, approval, monitoring, and enforcement of outdoor advertising applications and installations, while promoting orderly urban development, public safety, and aesthetic standards 

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Participate in the various structures of BDM on the development of business plans, strategies, policies, procedures, work processes and systems of the department.
    • Supervise and empower staff in the department 
    • Supervise the assessment (pre-assessments and full assessments) of all outdoor Advertising applications for recommendation for final decision 
    • Recommend to the Director: Building Development Management work improvement processes where necessary 
    • Handle the correspondence, queries and enquiries elevated by Operations Management/ Technical Evaluators. 
    • Ensure complaints of the public regarding the by-law processes are dealt with effectively and efficiently on matters related to outdoor advertising activities 
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including the General Public and Council Departments; Municipal-owned Entities and Agencies; Provincial and National Government 
    • Compile and consolidate the statistics on the activities of the Outdoor Advertising Unit 
    • The incumbent may be required to perform various ad hoc duties delegated by the Director from time to time
