    Co-Extrusion Operator - ITB

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Setting up of the co-extruders in accordance with the Job card requirements and guidelines as specified in the Extrusion Start-up and procedures and machine sheets.
    • Inspect and record quality at the beginning and throughout the shift
    • Use co-extrusion trouble -shooting guide when discrepancies are detected.
    • Constantly monitor width, colour and clarity to avoid out of spec situation
    • Provide sample to QA for inspection at the end of each and every roll
    • Remove all out of spec rolls from production and flag it.
    • Complete identification ticket for every roll should the job require further processing and insert it thereon.
    • Inspect pallets for conformance in conjunction with QAT.
    • Regularly check production status of each job to efficiently change jobs on completion of an order.
    • Record an ongoing tally of production of production in individual co-extrusion machine production books including on hold stations.
    • To continuously perform trouble shooting on machines whenever necessary.

    Educational Requirements

    • Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
    • Certificate in Blown Film an added advantage.

    Experience Requirements

    • Knowledge of ISO 9001: 2001 Quality standards.
    • At least 4 years’ experience in the plastic industry (packaging).
    • At least 2 years’ experience as a Co-Extrusion operator.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Must have a good knowledge of how the co-extrusion machine work.
    • Ability to adjust, calibrate and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation.
    • Ability to set up and start co-extrusion machine.
    • Ability to calculate weight per metre on given film and micron size.
    • Ability to gauge temperature for processing low /high density.
    • Ability to calculate BUR on given diameter and film size.
    • Ability to calculate DDR on given BUR, die gap and micron size.
    • Ability to calculate weight on given LD, LLD percentages and the weight of the total mix.

    Financial Manager

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Drive profitability in the business through strategic pricing and efficient structuring
    • Take a lead in the management team in trouble shooting problems and implementing solutions
    • Report on financial results and variances to budget and defining and implementing corrective actions
    • Involvement in commercial activities such as customer relationships and pricing

    Educational Requirements

    • At least 6 years Senior Financial Manager experience including formulating strategies and managing multiple teams

    Stereo Mounter

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Receive production schedule and mount jobs accordingly.
    • Refer to the print job card, relevant chromalin, and Product Master and Master samples for repeat jobs.
    • Check Stereo condition, if stereos are in poor condition or damaged refer to the print Manager for a course of action, if they are in good condition, proceed with mounting and complete a stereo register.
    • Obtain required cylinder from storage rack by referring to the specified cylinder size/repeat length requirements as listed on the job card.
    • Mount stereos onto the cylinder
    • Strip printing plates from the cylinder on completion of the run.
    • Report stereos in poor condition to the Print manager for the course of action and complete production sheet.
    • Comply with all health and safety, environment, and safe operating procedures.
    • Ensure that all emergency and safe devices are available and functional.
    • Practice good housekeeping and report all accidents and injuries.

    Educational Requirements

    • Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.

    Experience Requirements

    • Have a fair knowledge of ISO 9001: 2001 Quality standards.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in the plastic industry (packaging).
    • At least 1-year experience as a mounter.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Ability to mount sleeves.
    • Knowledge of different types of cushion mount tapes
    • Ability to make mock-up samples.
    • Understanding of unwind chart.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001.

    Lamination Operator

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for pre-make ready such as requesting of job card, ordering adhesives, solvent, and substrates.
    • Do a ratio check at the begin of each shift and job change.
    • Do a grammage check at the begin of each shift and job change.
    • Responsible for the setup of the lamination process by preparing the machine for the next job ensuring that trays and pumps are clean.
    • Responsible for loading of coating sleeves specified by the job card while ensuring that adhesives batch numbers are recorded.
    • Responsible for setting up of coating stations, ensuring that the coating grammage comply with job card.
    • Responsible for ongoing quality control by continuously conducting visual checks on lamination substrate during production for the following specifics: coating weight and lay of adhesive.
    • Record all scrap produced on the system.
    • Responsible for recording production data.
    • Comply with all ITB’s policies including but not limited to Health and Safety, General Workplace policies, Quality and Food Packaging safety and standard operating procedures.

    Educational Requirements

    • Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent with computer knowledge.

    Experience Requirements

    • Have a fair knowledge of ISO 9001: 2001 Quality standards.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in the plastic industry (packaging.
    • At least 1-year experience as a Lamination Machine Operator.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Ability to set up and operate solvent-based and solventless lamination machines within acceptable time frame.
    • Strong knowledge of adhesives and solvent for this process.
    • Understanding of ratio settings and grammage checks
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2001
    • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
    • Computer literacy.
