    Senior Electronic Engineer

    Qualifications

    • Bsc/Beng Engineering: Electronic or Mechatronic

    Advantageous Requirements

    • Msc Engineering
    • PREng Registration
    • IEEE Membership

    Experience

    • 10 years Firmware and Hardware design experience
    • 4 years demonstrated experience in building and qualifying complex electronic systems
    • 4 years demonstrated experience in R&D and Product Development Environment

    Duties

    Research:

    • Research latest technologies pertinent to Electronic Systems
    • Research patents and existing technologies to avoid infringement
    • Research new available and emerging technologies in the Electronic Detonator industry
    • Research what sets us apart from other systems in the market
    • Research rules and regulations that govern systems in the explosive industry like SANS and ARP
    • Research new wireless technologies, battery technologies, power management technologies
    • Overall R&D process improvement and optimization

    Electronic Design & Development:

    • Design for harsh environment, IP rated Designs
    • Design for quality and scalability
    • Circuit Design in PADS or Altium Designer
    • Layout Design, Multi-Layer PCB’s
    • Firmware development for ARM in C or C++
    • Contribute to CAD drawings and designs for enclosures and mountings
    • Understanding of Firmware Development tools like: Atmel Studio, Visual Studio or STMCube
    • Draft and design according to user needs and technical specification documents
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders like component suppliers, PCB manufacturers and assembly houses
    • All with the aim of developing cutting edge detonators and blasting equipment as required by clients

    Production Handover & Maintenance:

    • Ensure all BOM’s are well documented and maintained
    • Training on functionality of the electronics
    • Design of equipment for test and configuration in production
    • Ensuring components are available and sourcing suitable alternates when they are not
    • Documentation for production: test instructions, wiring diagrams, modification proposals, training manuals, calibration certificates
    • Global product support
    • Draft all relevant documentation for production handover
    • Order all relevant equipment and components

    Product Testing & Certification:

    • Involvement in certification tests for: IP, RF and ESD conformation
    • Field testing of the product at remote sites
    • Involvement in risk assessments for approval by certification bodies
    • Preparation of documentation for certification authorities
    • Documentation for field test results and observations
    • Ensure all processes conform to ISO standards

    Lab Equipment:

    • Ensure lab equipment is maintained
    • Ensure lab equipment is calibrated
    • There is sufficient equipment available for engineers and technicians
    • Training on equipment for technicians and support teams
    • Proficient us of equipment like: multi meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, power supplies

    Manufacturing Financial Manager

    Qualifications

    • CA/ACCA/CIMA

    Experience

    • 6 - 10 Years Experience in manufacturing/mining/pharmaceuticals within a Finance Function
    • 3 Years Management Experience

    Duties

    • Financial oversight over manufacturing operations throughout the Group
    • Perform financial functions for manufacturing which include financial reporting, payment allocations, budgeting, expense analysis, cash flow forecasting, invoice generation
    • Ensure that monthly cost reviews are performed and timely commentary submitted to the Group and Division
    • Regular variance analysis for usage and production variances
    • Communication of Manufacturing related KPIs and other efficiency measures
    • Ensure operational discipline by highlighting areas of non-compliance with policy, procedures, and best practices
    • Review the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls, lead the risk assessments for Manufacturing processes and ensure these are adequately mitigated

    Qualifications

    Experience

    • Previous experience in blasting / mining environment
    • 2 years blasting assistant experience

    Duties

    • Risk assessment and Safe work declarations to be done with the blaster at the place of work before entering workplace as per client requirements
    • Assisting the blaster for preparing the blast / charge-up area by meeting all the statutory, legal, client and BME requirements/standards/prescriptions
    • Together with the Blaster, inspects the site to determine the target block and to plan the blasting process
    • Marks off the working area by erecting the prescribed barricading material as prescribed by the client
    • Required to map the holes to ensure that all the required holes correctly placed
    • Required to measure and check the depth of the holes, and to ensure that they are all correctly drilled within the prescribed parameters
    • In the event of detecting any deviations from prescriptions, responsible for behaving assertively and taking the necessary steps to rectify matters, e.g., by interacting and communicating to mine staff, drill contractor or the Foreman
    • On instruction from the Blaster, required to collect the correct accessories to carry out the blasting assignment successfully
    • Responsible to place all detonators and boosters at the collar of the hole to prepare for priming of the blast holes as per the blast plan issued by the mine
    • Responsible for priming the holes by carefully inserting detonators into boosters, attaching weigh-down material to the primer, and lower this primer in the hole under the supervision of the blaster
