    Radiographer Health Services

    RESPONSIBILITIES AMONGST OTHERS:

    • Adhere to processes that are in line with the working procedures and policies of the Bafokeng hospitals 
    • Support the medical and nursing staff as and when required in the provision of radiography services  
    • Assess clients/patients using correct diagnostic techniques
    • Expose and process X-rays and ensure X-rays are taken and meet high professional status
    • Provide diagnostic radiography services
    • Ensure regular servicing of X-ray equipment
    • Perform any other duty that may be delegated by the supervisor
    • Ensure regular servicing of X-ray equipment
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals accordingly for the provision of radiography services 
    • Assist in evaluating current practices, programme outcomes and participate in continuous Quality Improvement programmes and initiatives of the radiography department 
    • Involvement in monitoring and evaluation programmes of the radiography department 
    • Encourage good customer service to clients/patients in the RBN and in identified Bafokeng communities
    • Support engagements with relevant internal and external key parties
    • Escalate patient queries appropriately 
    • Assist in ensuring that equipment and products are always available 
    • Develop procurement plans for the equipment and radiography devices

    COMPETENCIES: 

    • Has sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and radiographic techniques
    • Understands the clinical indications and contraindications for examinations.

    • Adapts techniques to individual patient needs.
    • Makes appropriate decisions in unexpected or difficult situations.
    • Identifies and resolves problems affecting image quality or patient safety.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • National Diploma/ Degree in Diagnostic Radiography, Registration with Ensure regular servicing of X-ray equipment as a Diagnostic Radiographer 
    • 2-5 years’ experience as a Diagnostic Radiographer

    Professional Nurse

    RESPONSIBILITIES AMONGST OTHERS: 

    • Ensure that appropriate health screening processes, for example, blood pressure, etc, have been conducted by Assistant Nurses 
    • Assess and screen patients, identifying the causes of health care challenges
    • Prescribe relevant medication upon successful assessment of the symptoms
    • Ensure that patients understand how to take medication and advise them of any potential side effects
    • Identify and refer to the Medical Doctor, where the symptoms are of a complex and serious nature

    Psychiatric Nurse

    RESPONSIBILITIES AMONGST OTHERS: 

    • Assess patient’s needs, abilities, or behaviour using alternative methods of diagnosis.
    • Conduct, where necessary, patient psychiatric assessments to provide context for diagnosis and proposed interventions
    • Support the medical and nursing staff as and when required in the provision of psychiatric nurse services.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals accordingly for the provision of psychiatric nurse services.
    • Offer and monitor appropriate treatment programs, including therapy, counselling or advice depending on personal situations.
    • Refer patients where necessary to either a medical doctor or Social Workers.
    • Support the EMRS/ Fire services with psychiatric nurse services where required.
    • Educate patients on preventative health measures to reduce mental health challenges, including but not limited to exercise, healthy eating, etc.
    • Support the analysis of major health risks data in Bafokeng communities to identify trends.
    • Perform several job-related administrative duties, including the writing of patient reports and analyzing data. 


    COMPETENCIES: 

    • Knowledge and understanding of nursing legislation, mental health legislation, and related legal and ethical practices and Regulations.
    • Knowledge of National Mental Health Policy Framework and Strategic Plan.
    • Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations and legislation governing healthcare practitioners.
    • Demonstration of professional ethics, maintaining standards and conduct in accordance with the SANC and its regulations.
    • Proficient knowledge of computer-based data management programmes and information systems that manage medical records.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • National Diploma / Degree in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, and must have a basic qualification in Psychiatric Nursing Science.
    • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Valid Driver’s license.

    Manager: Health Services Unit

    RESPONSIBILITIES AMONGST OTHERS:

    • Provide input into the development of the Health Services departmental strategy; develop an annual business plan related to Primary Health Care aligned to the Health Services department's strategic objectives; promote a shared vision of RBA programme; coordinate service delivery to ensure clinical services meet patient needs; certified Health Care Professionals, compliant with HPCSA requirements, provide services; manage, monitor, and assess the implementation of primary healthcare (including treatment and preventative programmes) programmes; identify opportunities to provide additional community primary health care services through mobile clinic facilities and analyse health data to identify major health trends and risks.

    Requirements

    • Professional registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or with the relevant body (where applicable)
    • A Postgraduate qualification in Health Sciences or a related field will be an added advantage.
    • At least 5 years’ in a management position (managing a team of health care professionals).

    Dietitian

    RESPONSIBILITIES AMONGST OTHERS: 

    • Nutritional management while ensuring the provision of optimum nutritional care for patients.
    • Implement and monitor nutrition indicators and produce quality reports.
    • Participate in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme according to prescribed policies, protocols and guidelines.
    • Collaborate with relevant programmes and stakeholders for nutrition activities.

    • Knowledge of the science of nutrition, social determinants and commercial determinants of health and their impact on nutrition and health outcomes.
    • Knowledge of research methodologies for data collection, analysis and presentation, use of current evidence-based nutrition for improving nutrition outcomes, policy, strategies, guideline and training manual development and review process and the principles of effective monitoring and evaluation.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • A four-year Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Dietetics or Nutrition.
    • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
    • At least five (5) years’ appropriate experience as a Dietitian.
