    Accountant

    Required Qualifications

    • The individual must have a BCom degree, which includes a major in Accounting and Finance as a subject.

    Job Description

    • The Accountant will report to the Financial Manager and work closely with the rest of the team in the Finance Department.  The role will include a focus on the loan portfolios for various companies within the Spartan Group and additional aspects as noted below

    The candidate will be expected to, but not limited to:

    The candidate’s role will be drawn from the following outputs (the final job specification will be tailored to the chosen candidate’s experience and aptitude):

    • Ensuring the accuracy of loan drawdown repayment calculations, including calculations of interest on arrears, early, settlements, and detailed amortisations.
    • Balance sheet reconciliations related to customer accounts 
    • Generate invoices and credit notes
    • Customer (borrowers) payment allocations and loan reconciliations
    • Sending invoices with statements and payment reminder emails to customers
    • Preparation and loading of debit orders
    • Management and resolution of unpaid obligations 
    • Resolving customer queries 
    • Work with Spartan’s internal Legal Team on defaulting customers
    • Ad Hoc assignments
    • Performing accounting functions including:
    • Journals
    • VAT Calculations and Reconciliations
    • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
    • Balancing Intercompany loan accounts
    • Cash Flow Management
    • Checking/preparing bank reconciliations daily
    • Loading banking transactions
    • Audit Assistance – Prepare audit packs and liaise with auditors
    • ad hoc tasks

    Minimum requirements

    • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting as a major and Finance as a subject) or equivalent tertiary qualification
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting/bookkeeping  role

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Experience with loans, leases and amortisations, NPV or a sound conceptual understanding of loan and leasing calculations, amortisations and NPV
    • Experience on Microsoft 365, Xero, Microsoft Teams, and Standard Bank Business online an advantage
    • Excel – Above-average
    • Analytical mind, organized, precise and meticulous

    Community & Content Marketer

    Purpose of the Role

    • Our heritage and position in the SME funding landscape has made Spartan a leader, from overseeing the way in which we approach and engage our customer and showcasing our funding products and services, to positioning Spartan as national thought leader in the landscape.
    • Spartan has a larger CRM database of SMEs that have engaged with us at various stages [either enquiries for funding or declined or below target market or are old/current/potential clients or referral partners]. This base is also growing annually.
    • Spartan has a specific strategy & philosophy in mind for this existing and growing database.
    • However, in simple terms [and for purpose of this Job Description] – it is to add value to this SME database to ultimately help grow these SMEs & Entrepreneurs and also impact Spartan’s own growth.
    • The ideal person must have the capacity to understand a strategy and, importantly, to create, execute & adapt plans to achieve the overall goals.
    • This role is best suited to a marketing specialist who understands the power of technical empathy and nurturing engagement within an SME ecosystem/community to accelerate funding opportunities for those SMEs.
    • We’re more effective as a team that works closely together and engages with its customers and stakeholders, face-to-face - consequently we are entirely office based [i.e. no work-from-home mode].

    Job Description

    As an Community & Content Marketer, you will be joining Spartan to roll out plans in a deliberate manner and innovate within our ecosystem/community. You will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of ecosystem/community initiatives. The ideal candidate will be expected to, but not be limited to:

    • Co-formulation & ideation and documentation of community/ecosystem initiatives and content
    • Drive collaboration initiatives within the community/ecosystem
    • Creation and nurturing of an engaged ecosystem & community of SMEs using Spartan’s CRM database of previous inbound enquiries
    • Cultivate an ecosystem/community where SMEs & Entrepreneurs can connect, share, and benefit from impactful content, tools, support services – and Spartan’s financing
    • Focus on understanding the community's psychographics, tailoring content and strategizing for growth via conversions
    • Create the customer segmentation, value proposition, marketing mix and content assets to convert the SMEs & Entrepreneurs within the ecosystem/community into new Spartan customers
    • Engage with the available systems & platforms for optimal results
    • Have experience in lead generation & conversion, as well as experience in using CRM systems to manage and track leads
    • Ensure a highly effective, consistent and data-driven success tracking
    • Have experience in data analysis and the ability to use data to inform and improve lead generation and conversion strategies
    • Develop and implement lead generation campaigns, tracking and analyzing lead data, and continuously improving lead generation and conversion strategies from within Spartan’s ecosystem, including CRM database of previous inbound enquiries
    • Meet Key Performance Indicators, including the main goal of converting a percentage of the CRM database of previous inbound enquiries into qualified leads per month that ultimately results into a quantified number of new clients per month
