    Manager Integrated Planning and Operating Model

    Job Description:

    In fulfilling the Manager Integrated Planning and Operating Model role, you will manage the implementation and sustainability of the Anglo American Operating Model at the Operations.

    • Responsible to drive value in the delivery of key business optimisation initiatives within the business unit as per the business plan and provide assistance to site business optimisation project teams in the delivery of both tactical and operational site improvement initiatives.

    • Ensure effective continuous improvement to the Operating Model.

    • Collaborate with HODs and their teams on improvement opportunities in their respective departments.

    • Use the BSP Model to validate improvement opportunities

    • Influence and guide HOD teams to work according to operating model principles through facilitation of strategy sessions to develop their service strategies in line with OM principles.

    • Quarterly reporting of progress against the OMS and confidence levels of achieving business expectations

    • Facilitation of the scenario review session to support the mine to reach business expectations

    • Supports the development and implementation of the Operations Management Standards (OMS) for business optimisation.

    • Identifies and analyses potential process enhancements that enable material business optimisation opportunities and establishment of projects to deliver these improvements using standard methodologies.

    • Shares best operational practices and carries out internal and external benchmarking of the various business unit (BU) business optimisation processes.

    • Undertakes accurate reporting of asset optimisation benefits and ensures compliance of project documentation with the relevant requirements.

    • Reviews current projects to ensure alignment with a standard process improvement framework and standard methodology.

    • Facilitates business optimisation workshops to achieve optimum output by maximising contribution and buy in from individual team members.

    • Undertakes analysis on KVD / KPI performance, reporting on existing gaps.

    • Undertakes statistical analysis tools and techniques in the evaluation of optimisation opportunities

    This role is part of the HOD team at a Band 5 level reporting to theGeneral Manager 

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant degree within Engineering/Mining/Metallurgy (Metallurgical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering )

    Experience

    • 5-7 years mining industry experience

    • Solid experience in leading  business improvement programmes and project management

    Knowledge and skills

    • Strong knowledge of mining production processes

    • Sound knowledge of the mining value chain and enabling processes

    • Business and financial analytical skills

    • Sound knowledge of business improvement/optimisation and best practice benchmarking

    • Strong project management skills

    • Experience in the use of improvement tools

    Section Ventilation Officer C5 (Fix Term Contract)

    Job Description:

    The 4 focus areas for this role will be to:

    Ensure that legal requirements, group standards and policies are adhered to.

    • Ensuring adherence to legal compliance through monitoring and reporting including that policies, programmes, standards, codes of practice and procedures are maintained in accordance with legal and Group requirements.

    • Ensuring that all the Statutory Plans are in place and up to date (Ventilation plans and mine rescue plans).

    Maintain Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene strategies and systems.

    • Measure compliance to Section 11 and 12 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Occupational Health Risk Assessment and Monitoring); including Environmental Engineering and Occupational Hygiene Regulations of the Mine Health and Safety Act pertaining to monitoring and reporting at Business Area level.

    • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Emergency preparedness programmes and set daily, weekly and monthly ventilation and occupational hygiene targets and assist in short term ventilation and occupational hygiene planning (6-12 months).

    Conduct risk assessments and participate in audits.

    • Maintain an effective risk assessment programme, participate in audits and follow up of risk assessments and audits findings, and the implementation of recommendations made.

    • Conducts daily ventilation and occupational hygiene inspections and records findings.

    Report findings and recommend appropriate interventions and management of resources and assets.

    • Advises on changes to plans, schedules, procedures and standards to minimize the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.

    • Provide valid statistics for ventilation and occupational hygiene are available for a specific workplace or section of the business area. 

    • Maintaining the condition of ventilation and occupational hygiene equipment and instruments and monitoring quality of equipment and materials supplied. 

    This role is in the Mineral Resource Management department at a C5 level reporting to the Shaft Ventilation Engineer. 

    Qualifications:

    • Elementary certificate in Mine Environmental Control "or". 

    • Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.

    • Registered with the Mine Ventilation Society on Intermediate level.

    Preferred additional requirements:  

    • Certificate in Environmental Health.

    • Certificate in Occupational Hygiene.

    • Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessment.

    • Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Legislation.

    Preferred additional experience:  

    • 5 years practical experience in the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Field within a Mining and / or Refining environment. 

    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office. 

    • Valid Drivers License.

    Ventilation Officer C4 (Fix Term Contract)

    • Determine the need for, and assist in the development of ventilation and occupational hygiene procedures and standards including short term ventilation and occupational hygiene planning (6-12 months).

    • Advises on changes to plans and schedules to minimise the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.

    • Conduct risk assessments, participate in audits and interpret and act on ventilation and occupational hygiene-related legislation.

    • Maintain Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene strategies and systems.

    This role is in the MRM Department at a C4 level reporting to the Section Ventilation Engineer. 

    Qualifications:

    The following will be required:  

    • Diploma in Environmental Health will be highly advantageous. 

    • Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control is required. 

    • Certificate in Environmental Health will be advantageous. 

    • Certificate in Occupational Hygiene will be advantageous. 

    • Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessment will be advantageous. 

    • Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Legislation will be advantageous. 

    • Associated member – Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa.

    Experience & technical skills required:  

    • Practical experience of at least 2 years in the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Field within a conventional or mechanised mining operation. 

    • Computer literate in MS Office, SAP, and other specialised technical programs will be advantageous.
