    Product Owner | Retail IT

    Job Summary

    • We are looking for an individual to lead the Fund and Product Administration technology domain and team as Product Owner. This is a unique opportunity to shape and evolve one of the key technology capabilities that underpin our retail investment platform and critical business processes. Leading a full-stack team, you will oversee the delivery of internal applications and APIs that enable seamless integration across our technology ecosystem.
    • Working in partnership with the Technical Lead, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the product vision, prioritising the backlog, driving delivery outcomes, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective team processes, supporting the production environment, and maintaining appropriate project governance.
    • The ideal candidate will have experience in product ownership, senior business and system analysis, or a related role, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and technology teams. Experience within fund administration, financial product administration, or collective investment scheme administration systems would be highly advantageous. The role requires you to build domain knowledge quickly, think strategically, and is motivated to shape the future of this foundational part of our investment technology landscape.

    Job Responsibilities
    Lead a cross-functional development team: 

    • Responsible for supporting our fund administration, fund pricing and product rule systems and ensuring that it meets the changing needs of the business.
    • Provide direct line management and guidance to business analysts. 
    • Play a general leadership role within the broader IT department.

    Product vision & strategy: 

    • Own and articulate the product vision, aligning with business objectives and user needs. 
    • Define and maintain a clear product roadmap balancing support, technical enablement, and feature delivery.

    Stakeholder engagement: 

    • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, end-users, and technical teams to gather, refine, and prioritize requirements. 
    • Act as the primary liaison between business units and the IT team, ensuring transparency and alignment.

    Backlog & delivery management: 

    • Maintain a well-refined product backlog, ensuring stories are clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for development. 
    • Lead sprint planning and review sessions, ensuring timely delivery of enhancements, fixes, and upgrades. 
    • Work with other Product Owners to ensure the coordinated delivery of strategic business initiatives and other related functionality. 

    Continuous improvement: 

    • Monitor platform performance and user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement. 
    • Promote a culture of innovation, agility, quality, and continuous learning within the team.

    Technical oversight: 

    • Collaborate with the Tech Lead and developers to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions and manage business delivery along with technical debt.

    Support & enablement: 

    • Guide the team in delivering first-line support, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests. 
    • Support business analysts and support analysts by reviewing specifications, advising on solution design, and validating deliverables.

    Governance & documentation: 

    • Ensure all requirements, decisions, and changes are well-documented and traceable.

    Skills and Experience required

    • Product Owner or Senior Business analyst with direct line management experience
    • A collaborative and results-oriented approach, with a passion for exceeding expectations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous eye for detail.
    • The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise communication for stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
    • Creative solution design and ability to apply first principles thinking 
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Planning, organizational and time management skills 
    • Mature EQ and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders 
    • Relevant Financial Services industry experience would be advantageous
    • Using data to drive decision making

    Payroll Administrator | Group Finance | Business Services

    About the role

    • This opportunity is a 9-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day payroll administration support, including preparing employment contracts, processing staff contract changes, capturing and processing payroll information, and responding to employee and manager queries. Working as part of an experienced payroll team, the Payroll Administrator will play an important role in supporting accurate, timely and compliant payroll delivery.

    Key Responsibilities
    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key responsibilities:

    Daily Payroll Administration

    • Assist with mailbox management to meet service expectations in line with agreed response times.
    • Prepare employment contracts, usually twice weekly.Monthly Payroll Processing
    • Support end-to-end monthly payroll processing for approximately 1,400 employees, including new hires, terminations, overtime, commission and benefits.
    • Prepare reports based on business needs and information requests.

    Quarterly and Annual Payroll Support

    • Assist the team with regulatory submissions, including IRP5, COID, STATS SA and UIF.
    • Prepare financial year-end reports for external auditors.

    General Team Support

    • Support the team with projects such as payroll process improvements.
    • Provide general assistance to the team as required.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A BCom, BTech, or relevant certificate/diploma in Payroll, Accounting, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in payroll processing and administration.
    • Knowledge of HR and payroll processes, payroll tax and relevant payroll legislation.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation.

    Technical Skills

    • Experience using Outlook, Word and intermediate to advanced Excel.
    • Experience with SAGE People and Business Central is advantageous but not essential.
    • Experience with SARS e@syFile and eFiling.

    Test Analyst II | Retail IT | Core (Flex)

    • Participate in defining the testing approach for each sprint:

    • Contribute meaningfully to team ceremonies and quality discussions.

    Competencies

    • Good knowledge of investment administration systems and processes, including investor accounts, investments, withdrawals, switches, fees, standing instructions, holdings and balances
    • Strong Oracle SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation and defect investigation
    • Experience testing batch processes and End-of-Day workflows
    • Experience testing user interfaces and end-to-end business processes
    • Experience testing SOAP and REST web services
    • The ability to investigate problems across applications, services, databases and connected systems
    • Experience testing changes delivered by an outsourced development team
    • Strong test planning, defect management, test evidence and release reporting skills

    Strongly advantageous

    The following experience would be beneficial:

    • Experience with Flexcube or a similar investment administration system
    • Testing Oracle stored procedures and scheduled jobs
    • Designing reconciliation queries and reusable validation scripts
    • Testing events, message queues and asynchronous processing
    • Test automation and CI pipelines
    • WireMock or similar service-mocking tools
    • Working with Scala, Go, Jest or Docker-based applications
