    Electronics Technologist

    Job Description:
    Purpose:

    • The Electronics Technologist is responsible for managing and maintaining the electronic instrumentation at  the three TS campuses with the responsibility and accountability of ensuring the continuous improvement and effectiveness of the Engineering Department’s Maintenance system. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Specialized laboratory equipment (e.g. Fusion, Density, Carbon Sulphur, XRF, XRD instruments).
    • Connection of instruments, computers, balances, etc. to Starlims and other programmes.
    • Ensure spares availability.
    • Effective and efficient management of the maintenance system and asset management system which includes the assignment of job requisitions, receiving and checking of completed work and inputs data on the intranet to sign off requisitions.
    • Compilation of reports to Section Manager Site Services.
    • Design and construction. 
    • Calibration and record keeping. 
    • Safety inductions.
    • Risk assessments. 

    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma in Electronic Engineering. 
    • Completed some courses in the maintaining lab instrumentation (ICP, LECO, HPLC, X-Ray), etc.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Management of engineering maintenance system.
    • Maintenance of laboratory equipment.
    • Computer literacy, including familiarity with inter alia SAP and Starlims.
    • Knowledge of maintaining laboratory instrumentation to facilitate with planned maintenance and fault finding.
    • Knowledge of SHE policies and procedures to facilitate with development of operating and maintenance procedures.

    Safety Officer Surface

    Job Description:
    You will take on a range of different maintenance tasks within the SHE Department

    Your responsibilities will include: 

    • Facilitate incident investigations
    • Carry out statutory inspections (30, 25, 90 days)
    • Compile safety reports
    • Check compliance to safety/ SHE systems
    • Check and assist in corrective action management 
    • This role is in the SHE Department at a D1 Level reporting to the Safety Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Tertiary degree or diploma in Technical, Safety, Health, Environment or Risk Management
    • COMSOC I & II / SAMTRAC or equivalent
    • Safety management systems ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 would be an advantage.

    • Knowledge of SHE Incident investigation (Loss Causation / ICAM / RCAT / SCAT / AICAT/ LFI) experience

    • Risk Assessment Techniques experience: (BOW-TIE, WRAC / SWIFT, HAZOP, FMECA, AFRAD)

    SHE Administrator Reporting

    Job Description:
    As a SHE Administrator Reporting you will be responsible for ensuring operational Safety, Health, Hygiene and Environmental Reporting

    • Provide support to the SHE IM systems and manage SHE data to ensure consistent reporting from the transactional systems into the various group reports
    • Manage SHE documents, control records review and confirm data integrity on the systems prior to reporting periods

    Shaft Ventilation Engineer

    Job Description:

    • The Shaft Ventilation Engineer is responsible for providing the Operational Area Management with the specialist Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene services and expertise, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment and minimize pure risk and litigation and adverse publicity. 

       
    Major Outputs: 

    • Ensure that legal requirements, group standards and policies are adhered to through monitoring and reporting
    • Design, implement and manage total effective Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene strategies and systems

    • Competent as 5.1(1), 9.2(2), 16.1(1) (MHSA) and chapter 12.1 (MHSA) as Occupational Hygiene Practitioner 
    • Extensive computer literacy in MS Office, SAP
