    Regulatory Reporting Manager (Senior)

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Head of Capital & Commercial Management, the Head of Regulatory Reporting is responsible for leading all regulatory reporting activities to the Prudential Authority (PA) and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), in accordance with the Banks Act and related regulations.
    • This role leads strategic regulatory initiatives and ensures full compliance with Basel frameworks. It involves close collaboration with risk owners to provide regulatory expertise and guidance, enabling informed strategic decisions within the applicable regulatory frameworks. Building and maintaining strong relationships with the Prudential Authority and other industry stakeholders is essential for success in this role.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the preparation and submission of statutory returns in terms of the Banks Act.
    • Ensure accuracy and alignment of regulatory reports with financial statements and PA directives.
    • Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, circulars, directives, and guidance notes.
    • Develop, enhance, and implement policies and procedures for regulatory reporting.
    • Collaborate with IT and Data teams to ensure automated, seamless reporting processes and robust data lineage.
    • Create and review monthly regulatory information packs, including variance and graph analysis, BA returns, and BA 099.
    • Lead ad hoc regulatory projects driven by changes in the regulatory environment or business operations.
    • Foster strong relationships with the PA, external auditors, and internal stakeholders including IT, Credit, Treasury, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit.
    • Represent Discovery Bank at BASA meetings and stay informed of industry developments.
    • Provide internal training and support to executive management and relevant teams

    Qualifications and Experience

    • CA (SA) or equivalent accounting/finance degree.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking, with a focus on regulatory reporting.
    • Strong IT acumen, including knowledge of reporting systems, data transformation, data lineage, and advanced Excel skills.
    • Experience with SAP and regulatory reporting software is advantageous.
    • In-depth understanding of Basel frameworks and South African banking regulations.

    Data Analyst Specialist

    Job Purpose

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing audits inside Discovery and providing feedback on the outcome. The successful candidate must have adrive, sense of urgency and work flexibility.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Responsible for a set of audits from planning to reporting, with a key involvement in reviewing work from direct reports or of individuals below a manager’s level.
    • Review of Letter of Engagement, Audit Planning Memorandum (APM), CAATs Manual for allocated audits.
    • Responsible for risk-based audit planning in respect of assigned Discovery companies, business units or enterprise-wide entities.
    • Determine resourcing requirements to achieve the audit plan and motivate changes in resource capacity to the CAE, when necessary.
    • Responsible for the implementation of the Internal Audit plan with regards to assigned companies / areas.
    • Required to respond to queries from all stakeholders within assigned areas.
    • Assisting with the Strategic Direction of GIA:

    New initiatives.

    • Positioning the role of GIA with Business.
    • Facilitating information sharing between staffin the division and with other divisions within GIA.
    • Assist with effective and efficient management and control of the day-to-day affairs of GIA.
    • Scheduling and planning of audits, assignment of staffand review resource requirements.
    • Defining the purpose, scope, and audit approach of each audit for assigned areas of audit coverage.
    • Monitoring the quality of work performed by the audit team and taking corrective action (where applicable).
    • Provide training and supervision ensuring audit objectives and practical coverage.
    • Monitor progress of audits against plan.
    • Track progress /changes in business risks and align audit plan.
    • Request feedback from management and escalate cases when necessary.
    • Required to deliver quality audit files (Pentana or other).
    • Follow up on outstanding audit issues and management actions.
    • Escalate where management has taken insufficient action in terms of the GIA Escalation Procedure.
    • Preparation, submission, and presentation of follow-up progress reports at risk and/or audit committees.
    • Day-to-day management of the assigned audit staffmembers and / or consultants / contractors.
    • Responsible for administrative responsibilities which include training, leave management, performance management, budget compilation, labour relations andsuccession planning.
    • Determine personal development plans and training needs, as well as implementing career path plans.
    • Manage staffproductivity by means of timesheets and cost recovery from auditees.
    • Manage and coach direct reports.
    • Review feedback from management on performance of auditors.
    • Completion of mini appraisals.
    • Issuing of engagement letters
    • Review of draft observations and forwarding these to business for comment
    • Review final draft report, obtain sign offby Business and forward to CAE for final distribution.
    • Assisting with the preparation and submission of Risk and Audit committee reports / packs.
    • Attending Audit and Risk Committee meetings, as and when required.
    • Assist in periodic reporting on the status and results of the annual audit plan and the sufficiency of department resources.
    • Ad-hoc reporting

    Education; Knowledge and Experience

    • B Degree or equivalent (and relevant) qualification.
    • Honours / Masters (with Computer Science / Computer Auditing / Information Systems / Auditing / Data Science as majors)
    • CISA / CIA (one or more of the afore mentioned are advisable)
    • SQL (or data analytics equivalent) certification
    • Experience using CAATS tools such as SQL or Alteryx.
    • Experience building within SSRS and SSIS.
    • Experience in data auditing/process auditing through data analytics.
    • Management/Review of work of medium teams (4 to 5 members).

    The following would be an advantage:Internal Controls.

    • Experience in conducting financial, operational or IT audits (IT General Controls or Application Controls).
    • Experience working with PL/SQL language.
    • Financial Services experience.
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a managerial position

    Test Manager (Senior)

    Key Purpose

    • The Senior Test Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of software delivery by leading the testing strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of testing processes across all projects. Success in this role means maintaining strong system integrity through effective automation, rigorous regression testing, and efficient resource coordination. The individual will drive consistency and excellence in testing standards while mentoring the team to enhance capability and performance. This role is central to Discovery’s ability to deliver reliable, high-quality features that meet business expectations

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive testing methodologies, strategies, and policies to ensure consistent quality across Digital Channels.

    • Analyse test results, identify critical issues, and make final release decisions in collaboration with senior stakeholders such as Product Owners and Development Managers.
    • Conduct readiness assessments and provide go/no-go recommendations based on test metrics, defect trends, and system performance.
    • Define, measure, and report on key testing metrics to executive leadership, providing insights into quality trends and improvement opportunities.
    • Present testing progress, risk assessments, and improvement initiatives in senior management and cross-functional project meetings.
    • Mentor and coach testing staff, developing their technical and analytical skills while ensuring they understand the broader business context.
    • Identify areas for process optimization and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance testing efficiency and product quality.
    • Liaise with external vendors and tool providers to evaluate testing solutions and ensure compatibility with organizational standards.
    • Communicate test outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing strategic release decisions.
    • Oversee the Disaster Recovery testing processes, ensure accurate execution and documentation of results, and provide assurance of system resilience and business continuity readiness

    Job Purpose

    • Implement an overall risk management process for a portfolio of Distribution Channels within the Discovery Group in accordance with a defined risk governance structure. The risk specialist will report to the Risk Manager.

    The successful individual will be required to perform on, but not limited to the following key outputs:

    • Facilitate the identification, quantification, management and monitoring of the business unit’s risks across all risk classes.
    • Facilitate risk and control assessments to help the business unit identify risks and assess the effectiveness of their controls.
    • Work very closely with the Risk team to deliver on risk management requirements
    • Map out the business units’ processes and associated controls, identifying any control and process weaknesses.
    • Monitor and assess compliance with risk policies and procedures as required
    • Perform risk investigations as directed by the line manager
    • Identify relationships and dependencies between risks.
    • Interact with the business units to identify practical solutions to mitigate risk and address control and process weaknesses.
    • Effectively challenge the business units risk assessments.
    • Monitor and report on risk incidents and perform investigations where required.

    Tax Specialist

    About Group Tax

    The Group Tax Department is responsible for the Tax Strategy of Discovery. This encompasses the following functions:

    • Responsible for tax planning, compliance, reporting throughout the group
    • Provides technical advice to business to ensure compliance with existing and new legislation
    • Responsible for tax calculations, tax return submissions,  tax accounting and reporting
    • Engaging with and managing relationships with SARS

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    • Preparation/review of various tax reporting requirements for the Corporate and International Tax Function.
    • Assist in the preparation/review of various section 9D CFC controlled foreign company calculations
    • Assist in researching and advising business of corporate tax implications for various business transactions
    • Keep up to date with relevant Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act guidelines
    • Provide training on technical corporate tax matters to business units as required.
    • Preparation of the Income tax and deferred tax computations of various subsidiaries in the Gorup to assist with interim and year end reporting requirements
    • Preparation of tax returns for various subsidiaries within the Group.
    • Liasing directly with auditors (internal and external)
    • Liase directly with external legal advisors on technical matters as appropriate.
    • Preparation of various reports and internal memorandums
    • Any other ad-hoc items to support the Group Tax Function as necessary.  This may include tasks related to other taxes as well including for example international tax aspects, VAT and other indirect taxes.

    Technical Skills and Knowledge

    • Detailed knowledge, understanding and application of South African tax legislation, including international tax related concepts.
