    Operations Manager

    • The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, ensuring that all processes related to the storage and supply of explosives are executed efficiently and safely. The role involves planning, resource management and the coordination of operational logistics to meet customer demands while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. 

    What You Will Be Responsible For:

    • To perform and report on annual business planning thus ensuring efficient and effective management of finances, employees and assists in such a manner as to accomplish the objectives of the organisation.
    • To compile and execute business strategy thus ensuring new business for BME.
    • To effectively manage the operational service delivery value chain through a whole series of activities to create and build value at every step-in accordance with the organisational vision.
    • To effectively manage stock to obtain and preserve a suitable assortment of goods while also keeping track of all orders, shipping and handling, and other related costs.
    • To ensure that all the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act, OHS Act, and statutory requirements within the department/remit thus ensuring effective management of SHERQ and adherence to stipulated disciplines for continuous improvement of occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality that impact on any organisation.
    • To manage all aspects of human capital through the HR value chain and in accordance to legislation.
    • To ensure efficient and effective management of finances in such a manner as to accomplish the strategic objectives of the organisation.
    • To effectively manage the maintenance of equipment, vehicles and assets thus ensuring adherence to processes and procedures.
    • To identify, implement and manage employee development and skills transfer through various on boarding and training initiatives.
    • To define, development and implement policies, procedures and processes to ensure process excellence and continual process improvement.
    • Analyse the market trends to forecast demand and adjust operations accordingly
    • Work closely with Senior Management to align operations with company objectives and customer needs.
    • Ensure that all operations comply with the relevant safety regulations and company policies.
    • Lead safety initiatives and foster a culture of safety.
    • Oversee regular safety audits, risk assessments and incident investigations ensuring that company policies are followed, and corrective actions are implemented.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to increase efficiency, reduce cost and enhance service delivery. Implement best practices
    • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of company assets to ensure they meet the operational needs.
    • Manage and develop team, providing leadership, guidance and performance management.
    • Maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring that their needs are met and that BME`s service levels exceed expectations
    • Address customer concerns and feedback, working to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure alignment between operations and customer requirements
    • Manage the operations budget, ensuring cost effective use of resources while maintaining high levels of service.
    • Monitor financial performance and implement measures to achieve financial targets.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, safety, and financial metrics to senior management

    What You Will Bring:

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma (Mining or Mechanical or Explosives Engineering
    • Ms Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email)
    • Blasting Certificate MQA
    • Advanced Blasting course

    Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience in fleet administration activities
    • Hands-on experience on transaction systems, Preferably D365,
    • Experience on D365, SharePoint and 3rd part tracking systems would
    • Ms office (Word, Excel, E-mail)

    Weighbridge Operator

    • The purpose of this role is to effectively operate weighbridges at BME's production plants.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

    • Accurate weighted and routing of trucks
    • Conduct vehicle pre-load and post-load inspections
    • Direct traffic coming onto the production site
    • Operate the weighbridge
    • Record all vehicles entering/leaving the site
    • Record weights by vehicle, completing appropriate documentation and collect driver signatures, etc. for accounting purposes and update information on the weigh bridge operating system accordingly.
    • Accurate weighing of trucks entering and leaving site
    • Accurate records of incoming and outgoing merchandise and stock
    • Record on the system transactions associated with loading and unloading items from transfer, and supplier and delivery trucks
    • To liaise with relevant stakeholders, and communicate exceptions and issues accordingly
    • Transferring and receiving, unloading and loading trucks, and fulfilling purchase orders
    • Enabled Weighbridge environment and operation
    • Maintain the weighbridge and general area of the weighbridge including the office in a clean, tidy and hazard free condition.
    • Attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
    • Compliant weighbridge environment and operations
    • Issue regulatory compliance documentation (i.e. Hazchem placards, Tremcards, etc).

    Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Certificate/Diploma in Administration (Advantageous)

    Experience

    Minimum

    • 1 year demonstrated experience as a Weighbridge operator/Administrator

    Diesel Mechanic Artisan

    •  The primary duties of a Diesel Mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.

    What You Will Be Responsible For:

    • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
    • Ensure correct measurement of products are used to avoid production waste

    Inventory handling

    Superintendent

    • The Superintendent is responsible to ensure the smooth running of the bagging facility by the effective planning and usage of resources as well as overseeing the overall safety. This position is responsible to co-ordinate and oversee all aspects related to bagging processes, resources per shift, and safe operation of the employees on shift. All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

    Safety:

    • Investigate all incidents (safety & environment)
    • Perform process safety audits
    • Tracking and liaising with stakeholders on mitigating actions from investigations
    • Closing external and internal findings
    • Update task based risk assessments
    • Update baseline risk assessments
    • PTO
    • Coach new employees on plant
    • OHSA 8.2(i) appointment

    • Manage leading and lagging indicators with team leaders

    Plant Efficiency:

    • Perform stock control (monitoring and planning)
    • Reconcile usage variances against the BOMs

    • Liase with supply planning dept about the production demand (plan, sequence, expectations)
    • Escalate delays with supply chain (customers)
    • Perform standby function

    Promote employee engagement:

    • Lead task forces to assist in implementing world class baseline practices (TW, VM, 5S ext)
    • Leading and managing change in the plant

    Ensure production viewpoint considered within short and long term maintenance strategy:

    Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Matric (Maths and Science)
    • B. Tech (Chemical engineering) or B.Sc Engineering (Chemical)
    • Lean six Sigma – Black Belt will be an advantage

    Experience

    • 5 - 10 years' experience in similar role in a Manufacturing environment
