    Starke Ayres: Junior Production Officer - Oudtshoorn

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Identifying new Growers
    • Establishing long term sustainable relationships with Growers
    • Being familiar with opposition Growers
    • Updating Growers with delivery, processing, Quality Control and payment information
    • Maintaining written correspondence with Growers
    • Reporting Grower complaints/disputes
    • Maintaining Grower details
    • Completing Contracts and Basic Seed Requests
    • Follow up on contracts and ensures a signed copy is kept on record
    • Completing Field Inspection Reports
    • Registering productions with the relevant authorities (SANSOR, Dept Agric.)
    • Completing Monthly Production Reports and Yield Estimates
    • Carrying out routine Field Inspections
    • Carrying out SANSOR and Phytosanitary Inspections
    • Inspecting, evaluating and reporting performance of Basic Seed and Plant Material.
    • Inspecting the production and surrounding area to ensure isolation.
    • Identifying and removing of off-types
    • Monitoring days-to-flower and counting male flowers on Seed Parent plants
    • Communicating problems to the Production Manager
    • Managing pollinator activity and efficiency (beehive placement and bee activity counts)
    • Requesting, handling and delivery of Basic Seed
    • Reconciling and return of Basic Seed
    • Managing planting dates
    • Manage the application of pest control and nutrient programs
    • Evaluate soil moisture levels and manage irrigation
    • Identifying problems in the Production
    • Reporting problems to Production Manager
    • Communicating recommendations to Growers
    • Drawing and dispatching samples
    • Communicating potential QC issues with the Operations Department
    • Tracking seed lot deliveries through the cleaning and QC process
    • Reporting to Growers the progress of seed lots through the cleaning and QC process

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    • Degree in Agronomy (essential)

    Experience:

    • Trainee Production Officer for 1 year (preferential)

    Starke Ayres: Shop Assistant (Receiving Clerk Duties)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintains a clean, tidy, and organized stockroom. 
    • Ensures accurate stock counts through weekly stock takes.
    • Receives and checks deliveries against invoices for discrepancies.
    • Captures invoices and submits for payment.
    • Accurately labels, prices, and codes all incoming stock.
    • Manages stock rotation using a "first in, first out" system.
    • Oversees the storage and organization of merchandise.
    • Replenishes stock on the sales floor as needed.
    • Provides friendly and helpful assistance to customers, helping them find the products they need.
    • Managing resources in a most effective way and collaborates with suppliers to negotiate specials or promotions. Monitors pricing trends and notifies staff of any price increases or adjustments. 
    • Setting and updating prices for products in accordance with company policies and pricing strategies. This includes labelling and pricing merchandise, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all items.
    • Conducts regular spot checks on stock to identify pricing discrepancies and reports them to management.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    • National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) (Essential).

    Experience:

    • 2 to 4 years
    • Experience in administrative duties.
