    Mining Operator UG, B3, KRL099/25GS

    The role:

    • A mining operator at a coal mine plays a crucial role in supporting the overall mining operations and ensuring the efficient extraction of coal. Working under the supervision of experienced miners and engineers, the mining assistant carries out various tasks to contribute to the smooth functioning of the mine.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Operate small or large Mining Machinery
    • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping standards in Mining area.
    • Working at heights & in confined spaces
    • Perform any other duties in and around your area of work as per operational requirement
    • Identifying faults without supervision

    Requirements:

    • Grade 10 (Mathematics or Math Literacy, English)

    Internal Candidate:

    • As per multiskilling license requirement / agreement

    External Candidate:

    • Minimum 2 years working experience in a coal mining environment and as per multiskilling license requirement / agreement
    • Must be willing & able to be trained on various mining machinery
    • High regard for safety regulations, policies, and standards with an excellent safety record
    • Have a sound knowledge of safety systems and standards
    • Have the ability to read, write and communicate in English
    • Must be prepared to do a practical driving assessment and be deemed competent
    • Must be willing to undergo a behavioural assessment
    • Be able to cope with pressure in a production environment
    • Be prepared to work overtime & shifts as required
    • Must not be afraid to work at heights or of large machinery
    • Must be able to work in a team
    • Must have a valid K53 driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Engineering Operator, B3, KRL093/25GS

    The role:

    • Assist the engineering artisan in performing his/her duties and operate TMM/s or equipment necessary as required by work performed by the engineering section to which he/she is assigned.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Working safely in accordance with the Mine Standards and Procedures and the Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations
    • Comply to the Zivikele Rules
    • Comply with Seriti’s Standards and Procedures
    • Operation of mobile machinery and mine LDV’s

    • Material handling and working at heights & in confined spaces
    • Patrolling Conveyors and reporting defects to the supervisors
    • Inspection on samplers for proper operation

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 with Math (not Math Literacy) and Science or National Certificate with N2 Math and Science
    • Equipment Specific Licenses
    • Technical Ability Assessment
    • High regard for safety regulations, policies, and standards with an excellent safety record
    • Have sound knowledge of safety systems and standard
    • To be an active safety role model
    • The ability to read, write and communicate in English
    • Willing and able to work overtime, shifts, standbys, and call outs when required

    Faceboss UG, C4, NDC084/25GS

    The role:

    • The role is responsible to ensure the health and safety of the team, ensure adherence to all policies and procedures while safely extracting coal to meet production targets.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Ensure that Codes of Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and Legal Requirements are communicated and adhered to in area of responsibility
    • Execute and achieve agreed operational planning and production targets for area of responsibility
    • Plan, lead, organise and control section of responsibility
    • Supervise, coordinate and motivate the mining team in the area of responsibility
    • The role is Mine Health and Safety Act. appointed in terms of: Section 7 (4) of the MH&SA you are appointed to carry out certain functions of the manager and Minerals Act Regulation 2.9. 2 in force in terms of Schedule 4.4 of the Mine Health and Safety Act 1996 (Act No. 26 of 1996) (“MH&SA”), you are appointed, as a Face Boss, to assist the Manger in enforcing observation of regulations

    Requirements:

    • Grade 11, Mathematics or Math Literacy, English
    • DMRE Blasting Certificate
    • Minimum 2 years appointed as a Miner
    • Solid knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, including keeping up to date with any changes to the Act
    • Knowledge of safety, health and environmental within the coal mining industry
    • Sound knowledge of core value chain and operational codes of practices and procedures
    • In-depth knowledge relating to underground mining operations as described in the operations manual for continuous miner operations
    • Knowledge of mine planning principles and processes
    • Good knowledge of equipment capabilities and operating principles. (Basic operating skills)
    • Basic understanding of engineering principles and practices
    • Valid driver’s license – Code 10 (for personnel transporters - buses)
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    • Safety Courses S2 ORMP

    VOHE Observer, B7, KRL085/25GS

    The role:

    • The role is responsible to conduct and interpret VOHE related measurements and make safety decisions that are guided by the VOHE standards.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Responsible for conducting general VOHE related surveys in the Underground and Surface workings
    • Section Ventilation Surveys
    • Air distribution Survey
    • Noise and Illuminations surveys – underground, plants & opencast
    • Abandoned areas
    • Sealed area surveys
    • Mechanical miner dust suppression surveys
    • Refuge Bay Surveys
    • Routine Ventilation trouble shooting and problem solving
    • Ensure adherence to legal and corporate standards through monitoring and reporting
    • Conduct daily VOHE inspections and record findings through providing information and advice on VOHE matters related to a specific area or section
    • Assist the VOHE Officer with conducting risk assessments and participating in audits

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 Maths (Not Literacy) and Science or N3 Math and Science
    • Practical Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (MEC)
    • Minimum 6 months’ experience in VOHE and stone dust sampling competency
    • Good communication skills
    • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control

    The role:

    • To direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in performing a variety of production operations aimed at achieving planned production targets. Ensure the effective use of available resources in a safe and sustainable manner.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Responsible for drilling and blasting activities at the mine
    • Ensures the effective management of employees to achieve all Safety, Health, Environmental, Planning and Production targets
    • Legal responsibility for all activities under his/her control with regards to safety
    • Communicates all relevant legal and operational policies, procedures, standards and guidelines and ensures that these are implemented and followed
    • Ensure that operational planning and production targets are achieved
    • Develops and maintains constructive working relationships with peers, subordinates and contractors
    • Meeting production targets with strict adherence to maintenance and production schedules

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 Mathematics or Math Literacy, English, NQF Level 4 Further Education and Training Certificate in Mining Operations with DMRE Opencast Blasting certificate or Mining Engineering (BSc Eng, B Tech or Advanced Diploma, B Eng., National Diploma in Coal Mining / Engineering)
    • Minimum of 4 years appointed as a mining foreman in a production environment
    • Sound knowledge of Safety Systems, Regulations and Standards with high regard for safety and good safety record
    • Good managerial, supervisory, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
    • In-depth knowledge of mining methods, mining, and environmental legislation
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite & SAP
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Experience in Drill and Blast activities
    • Acting experience as a Mine Overseer
    • MOC/Mining Intern Programme completed
    • Coaching and mentoring training
