    ATW Officer

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to ensure alignment and compliance to the Authority to Work process for the mine.  

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have Grade 12 with Mathematics and/or Science or N3 Technical Certificate together with a valid Trade Test certificate or mining/processing qualification;
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Artisan, a Miner or a Specialist in a mining/processing environment is essential;
    • Valid Driver’s License is essential;
    • Previous supervisory experience and 1SAP knowledge is advantageous;
    • Knowledge and experience of Wessels Mine, surface and underground mining operation, will be advantageous.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • To accept plant/equipment handover from plant owners and to ensure that the risk management processes have been followed before approving work to commence;
    • This includes verification that permit conditions have been met, personnel are adequately trained and equipped, and the plant conditions allow for work to proceed safely in line with our well designed work principles;
    • Accept the plant after work is completed and to hand back to production;
    • Manage interaction (clashes) between work groups and issues Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) permits;
    • Update the area hazard boards to reflect worksite risks;
    • Audit the Authority to Work process to verify compliance;
    • Perform physical audits during work execution to identify potential hazards and substandard practices.

    Supervisor Maintenance

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have N3 Technical Certificate and a recognized Trade Test together with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in maintenance of which at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity;
    • Valid Driver’s License is essential;
    • SAP knowledge will be advantageous.
    • DMS and Sinter Plant knowledge will be advantageous.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Maintain health, safety and housekeeping within the internal environment;
    • Conduct investigations into workplace incidents;
    • Participate in the planning, development, Implementation and review of Equipment Strategies;
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of hydraulics, crushers, pumps, screens, conveyors and various plant equipment;
    • Sets goals for maintenance improvement through establishing KPI’s;
    • Optimizes and manages condition monitoring activities and processes;
    • Conducts critical spares analysis;
    • Monitors and quantifies reliability cost savings and equipment life cycle costs;
    • Manage all contractor related maintenance activities.

    Miner

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to mine and extract ore according to Mining legislation and regulations.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 with Mathematics (external candidates) / Grade 10 (Internal candidates) with 3 years’ experience in a hard rock mining environment;
    • Underground blasting certificate for Metalliferous Mines is essential;
    • Knowledge of SAP and MS Office will be an added advantage.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Taking charge of the underground blasting operations within the designated area;
    • Ensure the delivery of quality product to the plant;
    • Achieve the daily production targets;
    • Be familiar with the Production process activities, trends and brief operators accordingly at the start of each shift;
    • Collect explosives and accessories, lock up and transport to the face;
    • Transport explosives and accessories by means of a Self-Propelled mobile machine;
    • Handle explosives in the mining environment;
    • Lock up extra or unused explosives and accessories;
    • Monitor and control Blasting accessories stock levels;
    • Organize and control general road maintenance activities.

    Specialist Mine Planning

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The role is responsible for all the mining engineering activities under the area of responsibility. The Specialist will be responsible for short-term mine scheduling of all production tasks related to Mamatwan, to deliver the business plan.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining Engineering or Mine Surveying with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Opencast Mining, planning, scheduling and design.

    • Surface Mine Blasting ticket is advantageous;

    • In depth knowledge in Deswik, MicroStation, or other scheduling software is essential;

    • In depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations and definitions is essential;

    • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite and SAP is essential.

     

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Responsible for producing short-term mine plans in the Mamatwan Pit;

    • Develops short term production plans, models, schedules and forecasts in conjunctions with internal customers;

    • Perform quarterly forecast to accommodate any major changes to the plan;

    • Monitor performance against plans and execution of Short Term Mine Plans;

    • Compile Mine plan compliance reports;

    •  Weekly site visits are required with the Specialist Mine Design to ensure alignment in terms of the deployment strategy and to identify future design requirements;

    • Provide recommendations for improvement and monitor any actions required to get back on plan. (Risks & Opportunities with an Action Plan);

    • Contribute to project initiation, scope definition and scope change control;

    • Contribute to delivering departmental Business Improvement EBIT/benefits target via the BI Project Pipeline.

    Graduate Global Business Services FTC

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to ensure the timely and accurate processing and execution of the Global Business Services (GBS) scope of services, while contributing to continuous improvement within the team.

     REQUIREMENTS:

    • /BTECH/National Diploma (e.g. Supply Chain, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration);

    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.

    • Ensure alignment with and compliance to internal controls including South32 Charter and Code of Business Conduct, agreements, systems, standards and procedures;

    • Monitor allocated scope of work to ensure that data is regularly and reliably captured for reporting purposes;

    • Drive initiatives to improve the overall performance of the sub-function by optimising the utilisation of existing processes, practices and system in collaboration with the team;

    • Produce, maintain and analyse relevant reports on an operational and management level while ensuring that local operating procedures as well

    •  as Key Performance Indicators where required are also maintained;

    • Transactional Processing as well as Query management and resolution as outlined in the Service Level Agreements;

    • Develop supportive relationships with team members, and demonstrate and promote operational discipline when executing day-to- day activities;

    • Assist with timely distribution of process work and redefining of priorities where required;

    • Identify and Recommend improvement initiatives in existing processes, practices and systems;

    • Create and maintain local operating procedure documentation.

    Tax Practitioner

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of the role is to perform and assist the Africa Tax region with VAT process.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 together with a national advance certificate with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in bookkeeping and 2 years working experience with the VAT Refund Administrator (“VRA”);

    • In depth knowledge and understanding of the VRA processes is essential;

    • Monthly audit of the original invoices and supporting exports documentations to be submitted to the VRA to

    • ensure the documents complies with all the SARS requirements;

    • Ability to keep up to date with any legislation changes that have an impact on the VRA processes;

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Specialist Security (Technology)

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role will be to plan, lead, organize and coordinate the necessary security technology programs and projects as well as the adherence to the required Security Standards.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 and a 3-year tertiary qualification (NQF5) related to Technology or IT Management or Equivalent qualification together with 5 Years substantiated experience in the technology/IT field whereof at least 1 year is in managerial role;

    • Valid Code E/EB driving license is essential:

    • In-depth knowledge of the application of technology and projects;

    • Exposure in security in the relevant discipline is advantageous;

    • Software development experience is essential;

     

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure that all security systems on site is in a working order and report any system failure on site immediate (e.g. Alarm systems, CCTV, Xtime, Milestone). Implement immediate follow up and corrective action.

    • Responsible and accountable for maintaining, communicating and achieving all surveillance related reports. Ensure security networks, infrastructure, software development, operational technology, cloud

    • and maintenance is kept up to date. Maintain the integrity of the security systems.

    • Work in close relationship with the Security A&I and advise on new technology and application in the security field. Lead the execution small internal security technology initiatives (projects).

    • Update and communicate the security technology roadmap.

    • Review relevant procedures, - documents and forms as required and on time;

    • Security Systems: Ensure that all security systems on site is in a working order and report any system failure on site immediate (e.g. Alarm systems, CCTV, Xtime);

    • Contractor Management (Technical): Ensure compliance of the on-site Security Service Provider with the SLA and report any non-conformances.
