Job Description:
- The Centre for Academic Planning and Quality Promotion forms part of the Division for Teaching Excellence (DTE). The Centre promotes the strategic alignment of academic planning with the UJ mission and national requirements regarding programmes and qualifications. The Centre provides support for the planning of new programmes and is responsible for facilitating the internal and external quality assurance process for programmes and quality reviews.
- The Centre supports the management and review of existing programmes in line with institutional and national policy. The successful candidate will contribute to the fulfilment of the Centre’s responsibilities and ensure that its business is conducted efficiently and in line with legislative and policy requirements. The Centre is seeking a qualified and experienced professional who will demonstrate capacity in terms of its operational requirements and deliver appropriate support to academic and administrative staff, and relevant University structures, on quality assurance activities both internally and externally. The incumbent will advise and render support to faculties in all aspects of programme development and/or review and work closely with academic staff. The incumbent will be required to provide advice on meeting the internal and external regulatory requirements to offer new programmes.
Responsibilities:
As a Facilitator in the Centre for Academic Planning and Quality Promotion the incumbent will be required to:
- Assist with applications to the regulatory bodies for PQM clearance, accreditation and registration.
- Maintain records of correspondence with regulatory and other relevant bodies.
- Maintain programme tracking on the management information system – internal and external processes.
- Assist with systems development and contribute to the revision and updating of the Centre’s manuals, guidelines, and programme- or process-related documents.
- Assist faculties during the development process of new programmes (whole and short learning programmes) and participate in programme review processes as needed.
- Facilitate staff development sessions as required.
- Administer the activities of the Programme Working Group.
- Collaborate with Central Academic Administration and other staff on programme- and Centre-related matters.
- Participate in engagements with higher education institutions and regulatory bodies.
- Participate in policy development and review.
- Conduct data analysis and preparation of reports for governance and management structures.
- Assist with quarterly and annual reporting.

- Perform any other duties delegated by the line manager/Director as required for the Centre.
Minimum requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Education, Management, Social Sciences or a cognate field.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in working in higher education.
- Knowledge and understanding of the university context and university systems.
- Working knowledge of the internal and external environments of higher education, with specific reference to quality assurance and the processes undertaken within universities to support academic programme development towards final approval.
- Knowledge of working with regulatory body requirements as they pertain to programmes and the requirements for registration of qualifications on the NQF (DHET, CHE, SAQA).

Job Description:
- The HEMIS (Higher Education Management Information) Office is a service and support office within Central Academic Administration, under the Registrar’s portfolio. The purpose of the position is to ensure effective and efficient coordination across all departments to maintain a high level of data quality and to manage the HEMIS data submissions to DHET for subsidy purposes. The position has one staff member reporting to it. UJ is looking to appoint a HEMIS Officer in the Department to lead and manage the abovementioned business processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all tasks related to the planning and coordination of the HEMIS data audits for the University.
