    Salesforce Solutions Architect

    Description

    The role:

    Summary:

    The Salesforce Solutions Architect is responsible for the technical design and implementation of Valenture Institute’s Salesforce-based solutions, including its CRM and Student Information Systems. The Salesforce Solutions Architect supports the Salesforce Product Architect in a technical capacity and utilises their deep knowledge and experience of the Salesforce stack to ensure implementations follow sound engineering principles and best practises.

    Responsibilities:

    • Liaise with the Product Management team to refine business requirements and processes as they relate to our Salesforce implementations.

    • Perform Salesforce technical solution design spanning data models, flows, triggers, integrations and custom objects.

    • Oversee Salesforce implementations, environments and deployment processes to ensure they comply with best practises in terms of scale, security and performance.

    • Manage technical debt wisely balancing business priorities and deadlines with sound engineering principles.

    • Perform technical implementation including configuration, administration, writing code, performing code reviews, writing tests and other implementation-related activities.

    • Work with Software Quality Manager and Salesforce Product Architect to perform SIT, regression testing and coordinate UAT (with Product Managers) to validate that deliverables meet technical and business expectations.

    • Work with DevOps Manager and Salesforce Product Architect to plan and execute production deployments providing business impact context. Perform post-deployment validation and regression testing as necessary.

    • Custodian of Salesforce technical solution documentation.

    • Triage and resolve escalated Salesforce related queries, bugs and issues of a technical nature.

    Requirements

    • BSc Computer Science, Engineering or BSc/BComm Information Systems

    • Salesforce Certified Application Architect and/or System Architect certifications

    • 4+ years of Salesforce solution design and implementation experience

    • Involvement in at least 5 sophisticated Salesforce implementations

    • Project lead on at least 2 Salesforce implementations

    • 4+ years experience using programmatic and declarative tools to achieve business requirements

    • 2+ years Salesforce Lightning experience

    • Exceptional communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

    • Highly organised

    Advantageous:

    • Salesforce Education or Nonprofit Cloud experience is a major advantage

    Summary:

    The Head of Data leads a team of data professionals to build efficient data pipelines and infrastructure, develop robust data models, and deliver descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics, data visualisations and insights that drive informed business decisions and help identify risks and opportunities.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Data team leadership including team structure, recruitment, mentorship, performance management and professional development.

    • Oversee the design, implementation and management of our data architecture, infrastructure and information strategy.

    • Oversee the quality of the work being produced across the data science workflow, including data engineering, data exploration, statistical analysis, and advanced analytics.

    • Support the DS&T Engineering team with design, planning and implementation of solutions that involve key data infrastructure. Identify dependencies on other teams and work with the DS&T project management to plan and track.

    • Participate in Product Steering Team sessions to provide input on requirements, decisions and solutions that impact our data architecture or information strategy.

    • Data team budget forecasting, optimisation, management and reporting against agreed KPIs.

    • Key vendor selection, contract negotiation and SLA management.

    • Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure that the work of the data team is aligned with business strategy and delivers accurate, relevant and up-to-date information to enable them to make informed decisions, mitigate risks, optimise resources and identify new opportunities. Work with stakeholders to understand problems and how the data science best practice, Data and Analytics team members as well as Data stack can adapt to better serve their needs.

    • Identify and triage data-related risks and hygiene issues.

    • Work with Valenture Institute’s legal, risk and governance teams to design and implement data management procedures, policies and practises to ensure compliance with relevant legislation including POPIA, PAIA and GDPR.

    • Implement appropriate security measures and perform routine and proactive security audits and tests and ensure compliance with appropriate standards and practises. Assist in the response to and resolution of data incidents should they occur.

    • Maintain up-to-date data science best practice, encompassing data engineering workflow, data modelling workflow, project management for data science, and advanced analytics implementation.

    • Advise senior management and members of the data science team on how to maximise value from data resources and assets (e.g. delivery of actionable insights, ROI from advanced analytics projects, and the number of reusable data pipelines and data assets delivered).

    • Be an advocate for a data-driven culture in the Data team and across the business.

    • Investigate and implement appropriate data tools, frameworks and methodologies within the Data team.

    • Provide technical support and mentorship to members of the Data team and assist senior management to identify resource gaps and training needs.

    • Produce and execute a roadmap for good data hygiene with measurable outputs and checkpoints that provide clear visibility on progress.

    • Produce and maintain documentation to communicate the data infrastructure, processes, gaps, tooling, standards, risks, sources, architecture and other relevant information relating to Valenture Institute’s data management.

    Requirements

    • Qualified with either a relevant software background (e.g. BSc Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems) combined with extensive data science experience; or a data science background (e.g. Actuarial Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Statistics) with extensive software experience

    • 5+ years data science experience with a proven track record of delivering high-value data outputs that have meaningfully impacted business performance

    • 5+ years data engineering experience

    • 3+ team leadership experience

    • Solid predictive modelling, mathematical and statistical skills

    • Proficient with technologies such as DBT, Snowflake, Looker, Fivetran, Airbyte, AWS

    • Strong SQL skills

    • Programming experience with a relevant language such as Python

    • Exceptional communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

    • High EQ

    We are looking for the ultimate communicator who is able to guide young students in making a decision to study an online high school program at Valenture Institute! In collaboration with their parents, you will be called upon to have meaningful and impactful conversations. Using your impeccable communication skills, you will be required to guide, motivate and enrol students into one of Valeture’s accredited programs. Your ability to connect with young high school students and their parents will be essential.

    Your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

    • Proactively engage with prospects via telephone, email, skype and webinars

    • Share your insights from chatting to students and parents to assist in building a robust admissions process

    • Use your strong communication skills to build rapport and create authentic connections with students around the globe

    • Facilitate the administration process of enrolled students from lead to enrolled student

    • Be required to continuously develop and improve your ability to perform your current role

    • Contribute toward building a student journey process

    • Effectively navigate a tech stack to ensure a quality experience for students

    • Be expected to work evening shifts when required (13h00 until 22h00)

    • Be expected to meet and exceed your daily metrics and targets

    • Attend roadshows (or similar events) educating students and parents

    • Maintain and strive to exceed minimum conversion rates and consistent productivity

    Requirements

    • Minimum Bachelor's degree.
