    Junior Blaster - Bronkhorstspruit

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Valid blasting certificate
    • Grade 12
    • Driver’s license code 10
    • Be able to acquire medical certificate of fitness
    • Knowledge of opencast mining
    • Computer literacy (Excel and Word)
    • Reading and writing in English

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Responsibilities; similar to that of blaster
    • Comply with appointments including regulations and Mine Health and Safety Act.
    • Complete checklist.
    • Pump water in the section.
    • Offload explosives with blaster.
    • Perform calculations.
    • Charge up face.
    • Act as a guard during blasting
    • Good housekeeping.
    • Participate in mine safety programme.
    • Ordering of explosives.
    • Ensuring the safety of the blasting bench.

    Blasting Assistant - Delmas

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Staking of holes to be drilled according to the blaster’s specifications.
    • Measuring holes in the presence of the blaster.
    • Assist the blaster in priming.
    • Assisting the blaster in preparation of primers and suspension of the pre-split.
    • Stemming holes in conjunction with blaster.
    • Report any defects on checklists to blaster.
    • Assist the blaster by spooling out cables.
    • Take any lawful and reasonable instructions from the Supervisor or Foreman.
    • Guarding against inadvertent entry to location where the blaster is taking place.
    • Connecting up of blasting rounds or circuits.
    • Offloading explosives and accessories into bench storage boxes
    • Removing all breakable mine property from the vicinity of the blasting site (Block clean up)

    Description

    The purpose of this role is to optimise safety and risk control systems, as well as ensure legal compliance at the mine.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Grade 12
    • Computer literacy-MS Office

    • Good report writing skills
    • Knowledge of the Opencast Mining, and Engineering works
