Learner Management/Moodle Administrator

The LMS/Moodle Administrator role is an experienced level positions responsible for configuring, maintaining, and overseeing the learning management system (LMS) application and environment. The LMS/Moodle Administrator has primary responsibility for optimizing LMS/Moodle application performance, documenting the operations and support processes and procedures related to the LMS/Moodle application and server environment errors, and communicating with the campus community.
The LMS/Moodle Administrator will be expected to collaborate with IT, Faculty, and Institutional support to adhere to and maintain policies, processes and procedures related to maintenance, update, upgrade, integration and development of the LMS application and environment. The LMS/Moodle administrator will be expected to work with other IT areas and third-party services to maintain a secure, highly available and fault tolerant LMS/Moodle environment.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related degree
• 3 or more years’ experience with administration, development, and customization of a CMS or LMS in an enterprise environment
• Demonstrated experience with different Moodle hosting solutions and knowledge of relevant security requirements
• Demonstrated experience with data management and query building
• Demonstrated experience in web development including HTML, PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, and CSS
• Experience in a higher education setting will be an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Configure, administer, maintain, update, and document the Moodle LMS environment
• Supervise the security, performance, and fault-tolerance of the Moodle LMS environment
• Partner with campus administrators to support integration of other related applications
• Participate in the initiation and completion of projects involving the Moodle LMS environment
• Consult with instructional designers, faculty, and other users of the LMS environment to support the integration and development of features and customizations for the Moodle LMS application
• Oversee relationships with related vendors and host providers, enforcing SLA and support expectations
   

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

Educational requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree or preferable an Honours degree is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Academic Management in a tertiary environment is required.
• Computer literacy is essential especially in MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Liaise with Head Office and maintain academic and institutional compliance as prescribed in national legislation.
• Ensure that all the necessary systems, policies and procedures are in place and maintained to ensure that learning programs are conceptualised, developed and introduced in the higher education band. Oversee and facilitate all prescribed committee meetings as reflected in the Quality Assurance Manual.
• Register and comply with the relevant regulatory body instructions insofar as legislative requirements are concerned.
• Maintain all the academic processes, procedures and systems specified to ensure legislative accreditation is maintained.
• Develop external relationships with industry stakeholders to promote programs.
• Manage product development and oversee departmental budgets.
• Manage and oversee the activities of the different College Faculties.
• Manage examiner, moderator and marker database to ensure academic integrity and excellence.
• Manage all assessment processes and facilities.
• Assist the General Manager to ensure the financial viability of the College.
• Oversee and ensure successful examinations and assessments in the various programs offered by the applicable brand.
• Facilitate staff development and training.
• Provide academic leadership.
• Promote and facilitate research and development.
