    Manager On-Air Programming

    Key Performance Objectives

    Tasks

    Strategy Execution

    • Plan, execute and monitor all schedule execution related activities at both Argus and Samrand - in line with the Business Unit strategy
    • Be responsible for the initiation and implementation of new channel launches

    Operational Delivery

    • Execution of the Synergy and Micro Schedules for Programming
    • Ensure that the correct material arrives in the building in the correct format, is ingested, slugged and scheduled according to broadcast event specifications.
    • Ensure that the rights holders and events, including their sponsors are showcased on the SuperSport channels, across the entire continent, building brand awareness and excellent reputation for all.
    • Liaise with MCA Content dept, MCR, Engineers, MAM, Marketing, DMS to ensure channel launch requirements are met, including audio, territory
    • Liaise with the Acquisitions, Traffic, MCR departments according to service level agreements
    • Manage the delivery and output of the following resources: TX Producers
    • Handle placement programming ensuring the acceptance of content from relevant executive producers
    • Budget management
    • Ensure that the rights holders and events, including their sponsors are showcased on the SuperSport channels across the continent, building brand awareness and a reputation for excellence.
    • Test new channels

    Compliance and Stakeholder Management

    • Drive the process for notification and implementation of future channels from SuperSport for the business
    • Instruct and work closely with the other business units across MultiChoice with regards to new channel launches and SOP’s
    • Proactively establish and manage effective working team relationships with all support departments
    • Maintain relationships with suppliers of key input and services

    People Management

    • Manage the TX Producer team, rosters, shifts, SOPs, roles and responsibilities to support the MCR excellence rate of 99.98
    • Based on gaps identified, motivate requests to for staff development, additional resources including people, budget and equipment.
    • Explain targets and take accountability for the monitoring and achievement of performance objectives in the respective departments in terms of employee satisfaction, customer experience, cost performance, return on investments, risk, and compliance and governance requirements.
    • Implement productivity improvement measures by coaching staff on developing any new processes or on their areas for improvement
    • Achieving the agree target for Employee Engagement.

    Qualifications Essential:

    • Post Graduate qualification Media Operations field

    Experience

    • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Television with emphasis on the broadcasting industry, especially pertaining to micro scheduling, business rules and protocol. 
    • Excellent understanding of the operational requirements applied on SuperSport channels, including bouquet platforms, across both SA and MAL territories.  
    • Working knowledge of Synergy, Landmark Rights and Scheduling and related programs or systems used in the transmission process

    Event Facilitator (Production Operations)

    Key Performance Objectives

    Tasks

    Event Planning

    • To effectively plan for Events on site at predetermined venues across the country and cross border, according to technical specifications and instructions pertaining to the event.
    • To arrange logistics and travel for crew in line with the company’s travel policy.
    • To execute travel plans for Facilities and personnel in the most cost-effective manner, considering all risk factors.
    • Acquire vendors for 3rd party supply needs in line with requirements of the live event, as well as using cost effective procurement.
    • Inspect event facilities on site and equipment to ensure that they conform to SuperSport and venue compliance.
    • Ensure the vendors have deployed requested services as per the SLA.
    • To reconcile and report on the operations of the live event post the production.
    • To ensure accuracy of the reconciling of information for financial auditing.

    Communication

    • Effective communication between all stakeholders involved in the production process: i.e. Producers, Directors, Unit Managers, Stadium and vendor representation, to determine objectives and requirements for events.
    • Ensure an accurate detailed production Schedule is released and communicated on time to various stakeholders.
    • To provide a detailed production report after the production, on time to the relevant personnel and Managers.

    Financial Control

    • Timeously reconcile expenses and timesheets post Production.
    • Liaise with Finance to reconcile Production cost against budget.
    • Adhere to timeline and deadline dates from Finance to achieve targets for payroll and supplier/vendor payments.
    • Consider the financial impact of decision making and changes associated to production to determine objectives and requirements for events.
    • Ensure all suppliers align their costings to the guidelines imposed by Financial budgets.

    Quality Control

    • Monitor event activities to ensure compliance with event requirements, applicable regulations and laws and resolution of any problems that arise.
    • Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved.

    Qualification:

    • A Diploma Production Management or equivalent qualification.

    Qualification Preferred:

    • A Degree is an advantage.

    Experience

    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in similar role

    Broadcast Engineer

    Operational Delivery

    • Ensure that corrective and preventative maintenance of broadcast systems and equipment is carried out under supervisory guidance of the line Manager.
    • Ensure availability of technical support to the business.
    • Ensure that proper technical maintenance on OB units is carried out regularly.
    • Ensure that technical or operational equipments are in proper working order.
    • Ensure that feedback is provided to Engineers and Unit Supervisor regarding availability and readiness of Operational equipment’s after the maintenance and repairs.

    Compliance

    • Operate within a given budget to determine and ensure that the financial requirements can be met.
    • Perform in accordance with the business processes and policies.
    • Participate in learning and development activities to ensure adherence to the requirements of the division.

    Qualification:

    • Grade 12 matric certificate.
    • NQF Level 4 Qualification.

    Experience

    • Previous in-Service training in an Engineering or broadcast environment.
    • A minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a technician.
    • Live broadcasting knowledge.
    • Computer literate.
