 MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Act pro-actively taking the lead on delegated projects and be the point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders with the project team, including with liaison with clients;
• The PM is not required to act as technical decision maker, but is required to involve the technical experts or functional owners on decision making where required;
• Ensure that the project outcomes and requirements are adequately defined and that the needs of the users and all other stakeholders are fully and properly understood and accounted for. This includes a detailed analysis of contractual requirements, to ensure all obligations are met in project outcomes;
• Review and understand client standards and requirements, and ensure the project deliverables are delivered in compliance with these;
• Ensure that Operations and Infrastructure Departments have the necessary processes in place to assume operational responsibility at go-live, based on the Teraco processes, client requirements and the technology;
• Establish good working relationships with suppliers;
• Work with the suppliers/subcontractors to establish integrated project plans and ensure the suppliers/sub-contractors meet the agreed project quality and project timelines
• Identify/document project risks and work with internal and external stakeholders in mitigating the project risks;
• Conduct project feedback meetings with clients, and formulary document decisions and agreed actions.
• Compile project documentation, include Microsoft Project Plan, Risk Register, Project Minutes/ Action plans/ Email trails;
• Retain a document repository for the project, based on the project scope and risk;
• Establish and communicate the overall budget and timescales for projects;
• Ensure service orders and purchase orders are raised and distributed appropriately;
• Ensure purchase orders are placed with suppliers within required timeframes;
• Ensure quality, information security, environmental, safety and energy management objectives and design considerations are implemented in all projects, and that scope and testing is compliant to the design standards and the management system objectives.
• Ensure projects are managed efficiently and are executed in accordance with Teraco’s operational project life cycle model.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Technical qualification (BTech,BSc. Electrical/Mechanical Engineer)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management in infrastructure projects (not IT or software dev projects)
• Data Centre Certified Profession / Practitioner would be advantageous
• At least 1-2 years’ experience in data centre operations advantageous, but not essential
• Fair understanding related to most of the following but not limited to:
• Environmental monitoring
• Generator deployment
• UPS systems
• LV/MV Installations
• Fire systems
• HVAC/Cooling systems
• Biometric and CCTV Security Solutions / Electronics
• Networking and switching projects
• Experience in Integrated System Test
• Microsoft Project experience
• Driver’s licence and own vehicle (note, the PM will be required to drive between the various sites, as required)

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Energy: 

• Energy Monitoring and Reporting: Create significant value for Teraco through monitoring and reconciliation of Teraco’s municipal energy consumption / costs, renewable energy wheeling programmes (Teraco Solar and 3rd party Independent Power Producers), renewable energy and diesel consumption to ensure accurate forecasting and timely reporting thereof to Finance team and enable proactive responses / interventions where required.
• Independent Power Producer programme: implement performance monitoring and management reporting of Teraco’s IPP programme against initial budgets, IPP minimum supply obligations and IPP targeted commercial operation dates. 
• Engage with applicable Municipalities to ensure energy consumption is accurately recorded on council bills. Drive practical implementation of wheeling agreements to ensure wheeled energy credits (Teraco utility scale solar and IPP generated) are accurately recorded on council bills.
• RECs: drive practical implementation of REC programme to ensure accurate allocation / retirement of RECs and reporting thereof to applicable Teraco clients
• Teraco utility scale projects: implement performance monitoring and management reporting of Teraco’s utility scale solar programme against initial budgets and energy production performance estimates. 
• Teraco rooftop solar projects: implement performance monitoring and management reporting of Teraco’s rooftop programme against initial budgets and energy production performance estimates.
• Budgeting: Work with Head of Sustainability and selected partners to prepare project cost and economic returns analysis based on conceptual / initial designs, cost inputs and plant performance estimates. Work with the Head of Sustainability and finance team to get budgets approved and to track implementation. Report monthly to Head of Sustainability and senior management on actual costs incurred / performance against budgets / predicated performance and updated forecasts.

Sustainability:

• Drive Teraco’s Sustainability Strategy: Create value for Teraco by driving implementation of Teraco’s sustainability strategy.
• Sustainability Reporting: Monitor and report on Teraco’s progress in meeting its sustainability targets as aligned to international best practice, respond to shareholder and client sustainability reporting requests, and coordinate response to sustainability ratings platform.
• ISO 140001 & 50001: ensure alignment of ISO 14001 & 50001 policy and objectives with Teraco’s sustainability strategy and reporting.
• Presentations and Communication: Prepare power point presentations and reports for presentation to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders (as required)

• Preferably 2-3 years’ experience in energy utilities / renewable energy related field
