    Scrum Master - Northern Suburbs

    We have a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned Scrum Master who will be responsible for the facilitation of workflows within one or two software development teams to ensure that they deliver on their respective commitments and responsibilities in order to meet project deadlines. This position calls for a high-energy, self-driven, structured, and analytical individual with robust people and project management skills. The ideal candidate must be able to perform in a dynamic, diverse, fast-paced, continually evolving, and results-driven environment.

    Requirements

    Primarily the areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to:

    • Apply agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage and deliver solutions.
    • Coach and provide guidance to the team on how to effectively apply Agile methodologies.
    • Manage operational activities by determining and managing key tasks, issues, and action items within the development team.
    • Oversee the delivery of change through Agile scrum processes.
    • Provide support to the product owners and software development teams to achieve customer satisfaction.

    To excel in our environment, you would require the following:

    • Relevant IT Degree
    • Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology (B.Sc. Information Science - Bachelor’s Degree)
    • Certification Scrum Master (CSM)
    • 5 years’+ experience in project development experience specifically in a scrum environment or working in an Agile Framework/method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban)
    • 5 years Scrum Master and Project Management experience in a software development environment (Software Development Lifecycle)
    • Experienced in using a task management tool for Scrum and Kanban boards.
    • Must be able to demonstrate the delivery of successful business projects within Scrum teams, through various stakeholder engagement interventions.

    Senior Database Administrator - Northern Suburbs

    The purpose of the Database Administrator (DBA) is to be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and repair of databases, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, assist in planning for future expansion requirements, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the database. The focus of the role will primarily be on OLTP, including performance management and secondly assisting with design and development as well as the coordinating and communicating of deployments to production.

    Key Performance Areas:

    Database Administration

    • Coordinates the effective management of all Southern View Finance database environments (Production, Dev, UAT, Pre-prod, staging etc.)
    • Facilitates best possible system performance from the perspective of the applications and reports using the databases.
    • Ensures the Security of data is always maintained.
    • Services any data movement requests securely, accurately, and timeously
    • Provides support and advice to development team for new and existing SQL code.
    • Conducts daily routine tasks including Health Checks.
    • Provides an effective database security management support.
    • Ensures that backups are done and restored daily.
    • Sets up new database environments, configure in adherence with applications.
    • Database partitioning and archiving implementation.
    • Sets up and maintain SQL mirroring, replication, and log shipping.

    Capacity Planning & Availability Measures

    • Produce monthly reports.
    • Make recommendations to align hardware with reporting stats.

    SQL Monitoring and Performance Optimisation

    • Monitors SQL Server and ensures monitoring tools are in alignment with business KPA’s.
    • Identifies poorly performing SQL code (stored procedures, function etc).
    • Suggest code improvements on an adhoc basis, problematic code will be investigated and improved.

    Deployment planning, execution and roll back plan

    • Accurate and timeous implementation and communication of deployment schedule
    • Implements deploys and rollbacks, impact and interdependencies considered.
    • Maintain change control methodology, amend operating procedures as deployment life cycle changes.
    • Enforce and verify SQL code policy is implemented on production.

    Business Continuity Planning

    • Assists with Disaster Recovery planning and deployments.
    • Assists with maintenance of Disaster Recovery environment (database restores, mirroring, application configuration, testing)

    Operational Incidents

    • Takes care of existing operational incidents timeously and correctly.
    • Provides an efficient 3rd line support and assists with database related queries.
    • Documents and accurately updates SOP and escalating processes.
    • Adheres to company policies and operating procedures.
    • Adheres to Response SLAs.
    • Ensures that Incident management is adhered to in accordance with (ITIL).

    Mentoring

    • Positive engagement in team activities and actively contribute ideas to improve team dynamics performance.
    • Stakeholder management (internal and external).
    • Assist in development of others, e.g. mentoring and knowledge share
    • Quality control of other’s work.

    Senior IT Quality Test Analyst - Northern Suburbs

    We are looking for an exceptional Senior IT Quality Test Analyst who enjoys working in an energetic & stimulating working environment to be a key team member in one of our innovative teams. The person will assist with test planning, test execution and test closure activities.  The Senior IT Quality Test Analyst will also assist with capacity planning and mentorship functions within the team and is also responsible for the maintenance of the regression test pack.

    Key Performance Areas

    Test Planning

    • Produce project test plans by:
      • Identifying the objectives of testing and the specification of test activities in order to meet the project objectives
      • Integrating and coordinating the testing activities into the software life cycle activities
      • Defining the amount, level of detail and templates for the test documentation
      • Setting the level of detail for test procedures in order to provide enough information to support reproducible test preparation and execution
      • Determine the activities required to successfully meet the objectives of the project
      • Making decisions about what to test, what roles will perform the test activities, how the test activities should be done, and how the test results will be evaluated
    • Scheduling test case analysis and design
    • Scheduling test execution
    • Monitor testing activities throughout the project
    • Creation of the relevant test project in the applicable test management tool, together with applicable sub structure
    • Assist automation team with automated regression initiatives (for e.g., assisting with the application and business landscape)
    • Include non-functional test planning within scope of testing

    Test Analysis and Design

    • Reviewing the test basis (such as requirements, design, interface specifications)
    • Evaluating testability of the test basis and test objects
    • Identifying and prioritising test conditions based on analysis of test items, the specification, behaviour and structure of the software
    • Designing and prioritizing high level test cases
    • Identifying necessary test data to support the test conditions and test cases
    • Designing the test environment set-up and identifying any required infrastructure and tools
    • Creating bi-directional traceability between test basis and test cases
    • Be able to derive non-functional testing requirements from the applicable test basis

    Test Implementation and Execution

    • Finalising, implementing and prioritising test cases (including the identification of test data)
    • Developing and prioritising test procedures, creating test
    • Creating test suites from the test procedures for efficient test execution
    • Verifying that the test environment has been set up correctly
    • Executing test procedures according to the planned sequence (functional testing)
    • Logging the outcome of test execution and recording the test results
    • Comparing actual results with expected results
    • Reporting discrepancies as defects and analysing them in order to establish their cause (e.g., a defect in the code, in specified test data, in the test document, or a mistake in the way the test was executed)
    • Repeating test activities as a result of action taken for each discrepancy, for example, re-execution of a test that previously failed in order to confirm a fix (confirmation testing)
    • Execution of a corrected test and/or execution of tests in order to ensure that defects have not been introduced in unchanged areas of the software or that defect fixing did not uncover other defects (regression testing)
    • Ensuring the project in the applicable test management tool is up to date and reflects the correct test execution status
    • Assist automation test team with performing non-functional testing

    Evaluating Exit Criteria

    • Assess the test execution against the defined objectives for each level of testing to determine if enough testing has been done
    • Check if defects raised have been resolved, confirmation tested, or are outstanding
    • Preparation of test coverage and clearance reports. (functional and non-functional)
    • Preparation of defect status report

    Test Closure

    • Finalising and archiving test results for later reuse
    • Analysing lessons learned to determine changes needed for future releases and projects
    • Using the information gathered to improve test maturity
    • Maintenance of the regression test suite post signoff
    • Assisting with post deployment (to production) sanity testing

    Qualification

    • 3-year tertiary qualification in a relevant financial/IT related field of study
    • ISTQB Foundation Certification in Software Testing
    • ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst Certification in Software Testing (advantageous)

    Experience

    • 3-year tertiary qualification in a relevant financial/IT related field of study
    • ISTQB Foundation Certification in Software Testing
    • ISTQB Advanced

    Functional Competencies

    • Proven track record of testing complex user interfaces
    • Thorough experience and understanding of structured test methods and processes
    • Knowledge of test types (System Integration Testing, Regression Testing, and User Acceptance Testing)
