    Senior Finance Business Partner - Cape Town

    Key Responsibilities

    Performance Management / Building Standard Operating System:

    • Responsible for driving an effective performance management environment in the function enabling the leadership team timely identifying and correcting derailed performance for critical areas.
    • Ensure the Maersk Operating system for performance management is active and highly practiced within the business teams
    • Objectively assess the RCA tools, evaluate & implement needed process & checks framework
    • Driving KPI deployment and target setting in close cooperation with other functional managers and FBPs
    • Ensures the use of “one set of numbers” and improves the content of the performance dashboard part of the Visual Management System in close cooperation with the functional managers.
    • Perform senior management reporting for various readers and prepares for monthly performance reviews with the Centre Operations leadership team.
    • Encourages a problem-solving culture, equipping LOC with tools, standard data and training to solve challenges and opportunities effectively and strive for continuous improvements
    • Produce relevant management reports, Gap analysis and co-create improvement plans with the assigned execution teams
    • Driving usage of BI analytics to provide direction/decision support and assess trade-off between cost savings, efficient operations (SR + Utilization) and customer satisfaction (SVD);
    • Co-driving KPI deployment and target setting in close coordination with head of Ocean Fulfilment and Head of Finance, ;
    • Driving performance management for the relevant services in the geography balancing outcome KPI’s;
    • Timely identifying and correcting derailed performance for critical areas through action oriented framework;

    Cost Controlling / Cost Conscious Mindset

    • Understand the consolidated financial, operational drivers and the business development and take a role in challenging the figures.
    • Strong understanding of the cost drivers with the operations and takes ownership, driving initiatives on cost mitigation
    • Independent analysis to provide data and drive business decisions across multiple stakeholders and management levels.
    • Challenge business case assumptions and ensure that a benefit realisation check is in place for all major business cases.
    • Responsible for coordinating all cost saving programmes (e.g. SMARTOPS and Game Plan) and drives the follow up on these and ensure benefit realisation in the monthly report.
    • Through analysis provide insights resulting in cost saving initiatives driven together with the other functions.
    • Actively participate in the Operations finance community to learn & share best practices as needed
    • Optimizing variable cost, ensuring cost recovery process is strengthened collaborating with Market FIN counter parts;
    • Driving appropriate use of financial models for decision making process (network, port, etc.);
    • Accountable for delivering and following up of Ocean financials (Budget, Monthly and FY process)

    • Collaborate with business teams to build solutions enhancing value offering for the right segment of customers
    • Able to challenge & influence business decisions constructively with a customer centric mindset
    • Balance the right mix decisioning between customer centricity & cost consciousness

    • Driving smooth financial interaction between Ocean fulfilment team, Areas, Market & CD TbM teams and relevant Center functions;
    • Actively participating in the relevant FBP community to learn & share best-practices as needed;
    • Lobbying behind the scenes to build support for ideas and solicits the involvement of others to build ownership and buy-in;
    • Analysing the wider business and political implications when making decisions, including the effectiveness of the outcome;
    • Influencing decisions through presenting the right set of financials;
    • Can be a substitute for leaders to drive business review meetings.

    We're looking for

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent, with CA(SA) or CIMA.
    • Minimum 5-7 years of related industry experience, preferably with costing and procurement expertise.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills combined with ability to condense detailed subject matter into clear and effective communications
    • Ability to influence and drive change across multiple functional units
    • Results oriented, drives issues to closure
    • Possesses strong business knowledge
    • Adaptable and able to keep the bigger picture in focus while navigating through a complex issue
    • Ability to work both independently, as well as and as part of a cross-departmental team where innovative solutions are required.

    Inland First Mile Agent - Cape Town

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Liaising and preparing transport plans with suppliers.
    • Allocation of work via TMS and drive process efficiency ensuring that we focus on customer outcomes.
    • Get understanding of the customers business when proposing viable solutions.
    • Maintaining On-Time Delivery as per customer requirement (internal / external customers).
    • Identify recurring service failures and process gaps in intermodal delivery and initiate steps to address root cause
    • Optimize experience by challenging business rules/ limitations where possible
    • Evaluation of cases/issues and capture of voice of customer to ensure instant resolution takes place.
    • Attend/setup telecoms to address customer concerns, regularly overview of accounts / corridors.
    • Actively engage with customer experience and intermodal vendors for workable solutions and timely resolution.
    • Own and manage the finance process and administration for all work  executed
    • Coordinate the delivery of FCL containers to DC’s in the area.

    Solution Design Engineer - Cape Town

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Develop solutions in line with Made by Maersk strategy and customer needs:

    • Basic supply chain analytics projects
    • Analysis and compatibility against business processes to execute required solution and solution changes
    • Analyse end-to-end supply chain of clients for potential cost saving opportunities
    • Identify and analyse potential configuration gaps using various MbM technology platforms/application.
    • Interpret and analyse gathered customer requirements and translate into a solution proposal; develop and maintain solution concepts
    • Configure solution building blocks - maximise use of existing solutions already successfully operated
    • Quantify the solution resource and implementation requirements e.g. FTE’s, costs, EDI development, facilities, capabilities, equipment/services
    • Work with Product/IT to develop alternative solutions in case of capability gaps where applicable
    • Clearly outline solutions in appropriate formats for presentation to customers and handover to the implementation team
    • Management of dashboards to show profit levels, HC expenditures and other meaningful metrics across customers, verticals and geographies. Financial and operational benchmarking

    Review and support customer solutions and implementations:

    • Act as custodian of sustainable operational quality and efficiency
    • Project manage the solution design process to ensure on-time delivery
    • Channel requests for re-engineering, re-development of solution building blocks to product managers.
    • Regular review of cost to serve vs pricing and tie it with P&L
    • Maintain the repository of the global pricing database and update with relevant changes

    Accountable for:

    • Analytics of current supply chain model of the customer
    • Solution quality, its implementation and execution
    • Visibility on operating cost drivers and execution of the initiatives
    • Review and respond to queries on solutions if any sought by the Opportunity Management Evaluation Board (OMEB)

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    Someone with:

    • Tertiary education in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
    • Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in transportation with experience in solution designing and supply chain.
    • Experience in the analysis, design or operations of international supply chains
    • Project management experience preferable
    • Direct experience in one or more core industry verticals
    • Analytical with proficiency in translating complex requirements into tangible solutions
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
    • In-depth understanding of end-to-end International logistics concepts
    • Strong financial acumen
    • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Be able to work independently, and willing to travel upon business requirements
