What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with developers and data engineers to design data models, select technologies, and enhance stability and observability with SRE & Cloud Engineering teams.
• Design and implement high-availability database features, including replication and disaster recovery methodologies.
• Develop optimised database schemas, SQL queries, and stored procedures that follow best practices for high performance and scalability.
• Conduct compliance testing and ensure pre-production and production databases are tuned for peak performance and minimal downtime.
• Resolve issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative techniques.
• Test and deploy new database versions and patches to maintain optimal performance and security.
• Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and upskilling sessions, promoting best practices and supporting continuous learning.
• Integrate database management into CI/CD pipelines and oversee traditional DBA tasks like backups, maintenance, and disaster recovery while ensuring regulatory compliance.

What you need:

• 5+ years of experience in operating highly transactional environments.
• Open to working with various database technologies, both relational (e.g., MySQL with RDS, MS SQL Server) and NoSQL.
• Proficient in AWS data services (EC2, RDS, S3) and skilled in database performance tuning, query optimisation, and execution plan analysis.
• Knowledgeable in database encryption and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Unix/Linux Shell) and managing databases on Unix platforms.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies, version control systems like Git, and systems change management.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical judgement skills; able to collaborate effectively with internal and external colleagues.
• Customer-focused, able to understand and address the needs of development stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented and systematic, with planning foresight; experience with database migration and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

What you will be doing:

• Drive the launch of a scalable SaaS solution for the Telecom sector, bringing an innovative Proof of Concept (POC) to market in a customer-focused, compliance-ready product.
• Take ownership of building a secure, scalable SaaS data platform in a regulated environment, ensuring our client meets SOC and ISO 27001 standards.
• Set the architectural foundation, bring the initial product to life, and shape the future of the team as our client grows.
• Partner closely with the co-founder on hands-on development, selecting the right tech stack, and making impactful architectural choices.
• Lead development with a focus on quality, establishing best practices for testing and integrating CI/CD pipelines to keep us agile.
• Balance immediate needs with future growth, making thoughtful technical trade-offs to keep the platform on the cutting edge of data technology.

What you need:

• 5+ years in data platform development, with a track record of building and deploying scalable SaaS applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills across various tech challenges.
• Proven experience delivering high-quality software in agile team settings.
• Hands-on experience in ETL, data modelling, and pipeline development, with skills in database design across multiple technologies.
• Background in leading high-performance tech teams to deliver robust, quality software.
• Understanding of Python and/or C#/.NET for data pipelines and API development.

What would be nice:

• Experience in the telecoms industry would be beneficial
• Experience with PowerBI, Superset, or similar for data presentation.

What you will be doing:

• Work autonomously and collaboratively with the Head of Technology to manage and run the technical operations of the business.
• Oversee the administration and maintenance of company databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
• Assist in the development and optimization of database structures, queries, and stored procedures.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Write scripts (Python) to automate tasks and improve system operations.
• Leverage APIs to increase the speed, reliability and efficiency of software delivery pipelines.
• Manage and maintain Google Workspace accounts, including user provisioning, security settings, and troubleshooting.
• Manage and maintain code repositories, ensuring version control and collaborative development.
• Support the administration and configuration of the Qlik SaaS platform.
• Oversee the management and maintenance of company websites and domain configurations, ensuring uptime, security, and performance.
• Provide high-level technical support.

Demonstrated experience in any of the following will fast track your application:

• 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar position.
• Experience with SQL and other relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes would be a benefit.
• Understanding of scripting (Python ideally) or a willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture, hosting and maintenance - Google is preferred.
• Experience with relevant APIs and version control systems such as Git.
• An ability to learn new programming languages and technologies.
• Attention to detail, systematic, and timely.
• Openness to seek out support and dependability in the face of challenging circumstances.
