    Business Development Manager

    We’re seeking a proactive Business Development Manager who will be pivotal in driving growth and expansion within both existing and new group accounts. This growth will be achieved by identifying new business opportunities for basket growth, activating new units within existing group accounts, or successfully onboarding new group accounts.
    A comprehensive understanding of CIRO's business models and capabilities, along with customer needs and competitors' abilities and pricing, will enable the Business Development Manager to create competitive and compelling proposals to drive this growth.

    Key Outputs:

    Sales and revenue growth

    • Identify basket growth opportunities within the current customer base and develop an implementation plan, considering the 4 Ps of marketing and any other commercial
    • Identify units, stores, restaurants, or hotels within existing group account customers not purchasing CIRO Coffee and Tea and create proposals to secure new business.
    • Research, understand the customers national footprint and identify new hotel business opportunities and formulate compelling and competitive business proposals.
    • Actively, target big competitor’s customer base with focus on hospitality and
    • Actively oversee the implementation of new group business rollouts, activations and sales
    • Ensure effective handover of newly activated business to Regional Sales Managers after the initial period.
    • Contribute to the monthly product sales forecasting
    • Effectively manage the equipment pipeline and ensure accurate minimum offtakes are used when determining equipment return on investment proposals.
    • Report on monthly and quarterly sales growth for new customer’s on boarded with a comparison over time to track growth on New Business pipeline to include – number of acquired accounts, pipeline value, new market penetration, lead conversion rate with timelines and percentage of proposals submitted,
    • Basket growth for alternative hot beverage items in order to penetrate other coffee shops not selling our alternative hot beverage lines.

    Market research and analytics

    • The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities by researching leads, evaluating existing coffee solutions at potential customers, understanding customer needs and current contractual commitments, and establishing relationships with potential customers.
    • Identify and explore new market segments within South African market with primary focus on coffee and tea growth.
    • Market Analysis and research to stay updated with food service, coffee and beverage
    • Contacting potential customers to establish a business relationship and to evaluate the profitability and viability of new business opportunities.
    • Build credible business network and relationship management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing group account customers to ensure repeat business and long-term partnerships.
    • Manage key accounts and ensure customer satisfaction through regular communication and support
    • Attend Hotel General Management beverage forums and events to create networks and to keep CIRO relevant.

    Team collaboration and support

    • Conduct regular meetings with regional teams and KAM’s and ensure they are well informed on new business opportunities, lead generators.
    • Project management of new business and ensure successful implementation with all functional teams in CIRO.
    • Develop strong working relationships with internal customers, touch points being Technical, Accounts Receivable, Call Centre, Marketing, and the Coffee Capability team (Squad and Training).

    Required Experience:

    • 7 – 10 years Foodservice experience
    • 7 – 10 years Key Account / Customer Management
    • 7 – 10 years in HORECA market

    Required Qualification:

    • Business Related Degree or similar
    • Hospitality / Catering / Food / Beverage type Qualification would be advantageous

    Required knowledge: 

    • Excellent Beverage Solutions Experience and understanding
    • Budget Management and Forecasting
    • Strong Specialty Coffee Knowledge in the Out of Home market
    • Strong all-round Solutions knowledge and Customer service touchpoints
    • Sales systems and procedures
    • Knowledge of principles of Supply Chain (Planning, Procurement, Warehousing, Distribution, Transport and Technical Centre Operations

    Trainer

    We are seeking a passionate and skilled Ciro Trainer to join our team in Cape Town. This role is pivotal in delivering top-tier barista training and supporting our mission to cultivate exceptional coffee professionals.

    Key Outputs:

    Conduct Barista training across all modules for both internal and external customers

    • Using knowledge and skill of coffee to effectively train customers and internal staff
    • Knowledge off all courses offered by Ciro and how to affectively train them
    • Ensure training plan for internal staff as per HO directive is carried out
    • Suggest updates and/or changes to training material
    • Ensure training is done both onsite and classroom
    • Management of training budgets as per guidelines set out by HO

    Event planning and execution

    • Liaise with sales team on event requirements weekly
    • Plan and manage all event stock
    • Ensure events are invoiced and managed

    Effectively conduct assessments on trainees

    • Timeously assessing all trainees once training is completed
    • Effective and fair assessments of all trainees in line with Ciro training guidelines
    • Proper follow up and feedback on all assessments done

    Work closely with the sales consultants for CIRO’s customers – specific needs in training and events

    • Weekly meetings with sales team on feedback and planning of customer training
    • Know and understand the needs of customers and how to train on the required products effectively
    • Make suggestions on possible menu development and ideas
    • Plan and manage events and customer tastings

    Manage and maintain training centre and equipment

    • Daily cleaning and maintenance on all equipment
    • Weekly count of all equipment, crockery and stock
    • Order and manage stock requirements for training and events
    • Timeous reporting of any breakdowns or issues within the training centre
    • Daily cleaning and maintaining of training centre
    • Effectively manage BUP training program for completion in the given timelines

    Driving Training Income

    • Ensuring invoices for training are issued and paid, driving growth and meeting training budget requirements

    Experience:                                                                    

    • 3-5 years as a senior barista leading and developing new team members
    • Coffee diploma or relevant SCA courses

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma / Qualification in coffee or training

    Additional Requirements:

    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Extensive knowledgeable of coffee, coffee menus and products
    • Ability to maintain various coffee equipment
    • Manage the Barista Upliftment Programme
    • Dynamic presentation skills
    • Understands the origin of coffee, preparation from espresso machines, FABS and alternative brewing methods
    • Able to demonstrate the different products and offering to customers as well creation of new drinks
    • Maintain and manage all training equipment through delegation, training and leadership.

    National Sales Manager

    As National Sales Manager, you’ll join Ciro’s executive leadership team to steer Regional Sales, Call Centre, and Operations divisions toward ambitious growth goals. You’ll set the strategy, manage performance, and champion initiatives that deliver profitable national and regional sales.

    Key outputs:

    • Team Management: Lead and manage the Regional Sales, Call Centre, and Operations teams, ensuring alignment with company objectives and strategies.
    • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture commercially astute relationships with suppliers, service providers, and customers, both current and future.
    • Sales Growth: Drive and support the sales and call centre teams to achieve profitable sales growth nationally and regionally by meeting and exceeding sales targets.
    • Strategy Development: Collaborate with Key Account managers to develop, lead, and implement commercial and growth strategies for the respective regions.
    • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day sales functions, including targets, budgets, forecasting, promotions, and customer management.

    • Ecommerce Strategy Activation: Develop strategies and or loyalty and promotional programs to encourage more customer engagements and transactions on the CIRO Orders ecommerce platform.
    • Collaboration: Foster a collaborative working relationship between regional sales and call centre teams through SOPs, upskilling, and training.
    • Sales Performance Tracking: Create KPI trackers to measure regional and call centre performance and implement corrective plans where gaps are identified.
    • Market Analysis: Analyze sales information and competitor activity to make necessary changes and
    • Talent Management: Focus on succession planning, talent management, and development of a competent National Sales team with expertise in coffee knowledge and CIRO equipment solutions.
    • Market Exploration: Investigate new markets, innovation trends, product ranges, and service offerings by attending trade shows and customer events.
    • Competitor Intelligence: Utilize sales teams and their networks to gather competitor
    • Technical NSV: Deliver and improve technical NSV across the customer base by region and ensure the achievement of Budgets for Equipment sales, rentals and maintenance.
    • Cost Management: Ensure sound management and control of variable and fixed sales costs nationally and by region.
    • Key Account Activations: Implement and activate Group customer plans and or new group rollouts developed by various Key Account manager.
    • Social Responsibility: Drive social responsibility and internal sustainability programs and initiatives (Fairtrade, Organic, Relationship Coffee).
    • Strategic Planning: Participate in the development of strategic growth and defense plans and ensure successful execution.
    • BBBEE Compliance: Ensure the appropriate staffing and procurement plans is in place to maintain a level 2 rating.
    • Skill Development: Ensure regional teams maintain and grow their Coffee Specialist skills and knowledge base.
    • Ciro Executive Team: participate in all meeting and strategic discussions involving this team.
    • This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to drive growth and ensure operational effectiveness.

    Required experience:

    • 10 years' experience in a management role
    • 10 years' experience within the Food Services Channel
    • Minimum 5 years’ customer service management
    • Minimum 5 years’ coffee industry and a solid foundation
    • Minimum 5 years dealing with Union

    Knowledge:

    • Microsoft Office and SAP system
    • Technical & Industry Knowledge – coffee industry, sales operations, technical support, training and supply chain processes.
    • Sound mathematical abilities
    • Technical knowledge (equipment, automatic machines, vending machines and traditional espresso)
    • Data analytics and reports - advanced proficiency in Customer Reporting Management (CRM) / Ciro App, platforms, Microsoft Excel, and business intelligence/reporting tools

    Skills:

    • Minimum of 10 Years Sales Experience, Food Service and or Coffee/Beverages
    • Experience within the Out of Home Channel
