    Desk Controller

    Job Purpose    

    • Responsible for the operation of the main MCC Desk, effectively communicate on the radio and telephone with maintenance staff and flight crews to satisfy customer flight schedules as and when required, coordinate maintenance activities for aircraft on the Line.

    Principal Accountabilities    

    • Communicate information to flight crew (excluding airworthiness information), technical personnel, other departments and/or customer airlines i.e.
    • Parking bays, aircraft ETA, fuel figures, aircraft movement information, ETOPS checks, MEL deferments, ground support equipment etc.
    • Compile an aircraft schedule, update and make available to all applicable personnel
    • Monitor all changes to the aircraft schedule and communicate the information to all applicable personnel.
    • Arrange for aircraft spares and ground handling equipment as required
    • Ensure that aircraft movement between SAA Technical and ramp area is tracked and recorded as applicable
    • Update aircraft maintenance information on web based programs for Foreign Operators
    • Ensure all IT facilities in the section required for aircraft maintenance and schedules are operative and have required programs installed
    • Monitor all items of stationery and advise Manager accordingly
    • Perform all reasonable requests from the Manager

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Qualified aircraft technician with 2 years post apprenticeship experience in aircraft maintenance or an appointed production controller, planner or aviation storeman with 5 years’ experience plus a good understanding of Line Maintenance activities

    Knowledge and Skills

    Admin Officer

    Job Purpose    

    • Provide an accurate and efficient administrative service to the Manager and his / her Department. Perform telephonist, typing, filing and distribution of reports, letters, memos, meetings, organograms and electronic correspondence duties on behalf of the Manager. Provision and distribution of correspondence to relevant personnel.

    Principal Accountabilities    

    • Coordinate and obtain the cost approval for component repair.
    • Compiling of Department signing sheets and dispatching to HR – including leave, sick, acting, overtime and Admin 6.
    • Retrieve and capture the annual budget information and motivations thereof.
    • Load, update and verification of Labour Reporting.
    • Extract and generate documentation for management book and revised when required.
    • Control updating of personnel files of all staff in the Department.
    • Retrieve information and provide accurate Financial Reports for all the relevant cost centers. Investigate, liaise and resolve with Manager and Financial Department to ensure correct cost allocation.
    • Reception of visitors (internal and external) and provision of refreshments at own discretion or on request of the Manager.

    • Request, control and collect printing from external printing suppliers.
    • Compile and coordinate training schedules, listing and the relevant reports.
    • Coordinate all fax and printer/photocopier maintenance and activities.
    • Obtain reports and distribute telephone, cell phone accounts.
    • Coordinate medical examinations for the staff in the Department.
    • Compile, provide and distribution of all OHAS activities.
    • Organize dairies and control Boardroom.
    • Liaise and administer time sheets for contract workers.
    • Administrative functions for all staff permits.

    • One year Administrative experience or a Secretarial Diploma or equivalent.

    Senior Licensed Technician - (Avionics) - Durban

    Job Purpose    

    • Perform servicing, inspections, certify and release as authorized repairs, overhaul, maintenance, testing, trouble shooting and modification to aircraft components on time in accordance with all regulatory authority requirements  

    Principal Accountabilities    

    • Service, inspect, certify and release as authorized repairs, overhauls, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and modification to aircraft components in accordance with regulatory authority requirements.  
    • Operate support and specialized test equipment and ensure correct and serviceable tooling is obtained and utilized to perform overhaul/maintenance of components as per approved documentation and make recommendations for special tooling. 
    • Inspection of parts/components as per applicable regulatory authority requirements and institute corrective actions as required. 
    • Perform incoming inspections, preliminary inspections and create work packs, CM work scopes for components and parts. 
    • Assist in archiving completed work packs, be able to locate and retrieve work packs from archives. 
    • Plan and process parts and moving spares between workshops when required. 
    • Comply with Work Instruction Manual. 
    • Perform all reasonable tasks requested by the Production Leader 
    • Feedback to Production Leader on technical discrepancies and daily progress activities to ensure that productivity and safety standards are maintained. 
    • Optimize and improve utilization of equipment and time. 
    • Ensure that all tasks performed are signed and stamped and all relevant documentation is completed and compliant. 
    • Attend meetings/training/workshops as requested i.e. production meetings, safety meetings, green area meetings etc. 
    • Provide technical assistance in other areas. 
    • Ensure a safe working environment for staff in the work areas 
    • Assist in the returning of tooling equipment to stores and clean work area on completion of shift. 
    • Control calibrated tooling and equipment within work area and store to prevent tooling equipment reaching expiry dates. 
    • Control shelf-life material within workshop store and workshop 
    • Be able to GT/3 parts and materials as required. 
    • Be able to pick slip tooling and material, issuing and returning tools with AMOS and collecting spares from stores. 
    • Provide guidance and on the job training to certified and uncertified personnel 
    • Monitor standards of contract work outsourced to Vendors 
    • Carry out dual inspections 
    • Retrieve overhaul manual information and authorizing of spares required

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent 
    • Passed an Aviation Apprenticeship and Trade test.
    • Must hold current AME license
    • Hold Full Shop Certification  - essential
    • Have 4 years or more maintenance experience – excluding apprenticeship training, of which 12 months must be in a workshop environment

    Senior Aeronautical Technician - (Mechanic) - Durban

    Job Purpose    

    • The Aviation Technician will perform maintenance inclusive of servicing, self-inspecting, repairs, overhaul, testing, basic trouble shooting and modifications to aircraft engines, airframes and components in accordance with task cards, check sheets and work instructions, complying with SAAT. Manufacturers and regulatory authority requirements to SAA and customer aircraft.

    Principal Accountabilities    

    • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks which require self-inspection, servicing, rectify anomalies found, overhaul, testing and basic trouble shooting in accordance with relevant documents as required by Regulatory Authorities.
    •  Perform all relevant documentation pertaining to each task is signed and stamped for i.e., Company Policy and Regulatory Requirements.
    •  Operate support equipment and ensure correct and serviceable tooling is obtained and utilized to achieve maintenance task request as stipulated by aircraft manuals.
    •  Prepare the work area and aircraft/ engine as per Manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safe working environment for all staff, aircraft, engines and equipment.
    • Perform all reasonable requests by the Team Leader and comply with the Work Instruction
    •  Communicate with Senior License Technician and Team Leader with regard to any technical problems to ensure that productivity and safety standards are maintained as per laid down
    •  Assist Senior License Technician / Team Leader with retrieving of aircraft manual information and requesting spares.
    •  Return all tooling and equipment to stores and clean the work area on completion of shift.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Passed an Aviation Apprenticeship and Trade Test in the Aircraft Mechanic Trade
    • Must have 2 years line maintenance experience
    • Advantageous to hold certification in any of the following aircraft types (B737-300/400/500; B737-NG; A319/320; A330; A340; B744; B777) - provide copy of Admin28
    • Must be PC Literate (i.e. AMOS MS Office)
    • Valid Driver’s license Code B

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Attend meetings/training/workshops as requested i.e. production meetings, safety, green area meetings etc.
    • Prepare the work area as per manufacturers requirements and policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment.
    • Return all tooling equipment to stores and clean work area on completion of task
    • Issue and return of tooling/test benches in AMOS
    • Moving of serviceable spares to main stores after workshop finalization
    • Creation of repair documentation after components received in the work area
    • Filling of repair documentation and work pack in the archives after components were released into service and retrieve work pack
    • Order their own spares, collect them from main stores and create GT/3 spares list for their components allocated to them
    • Clean and prepare their components for processing
    • Moving spares to repair cycle or between workshops

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Completed an Aviation Apprenticeship and passed Trade Test (Trade applicable to position above) and have 2 years’ experience in a hangar or a workshop environment
    • Must hold current AME license (copy must submitted) 
    • Approvals under EASA list of Certifying staff will be advantageous
    • Advantageous to hold certification in any of the following aircraft types (B737-300/400/500; B737-NG; A319/320; A330; A340; B744; B777) Provide copy of Admin28
    • Must be PC literate (AMOS and MS Office)
    • Valid driver’s license Code B

    Admin Officer - (CAMO)

    Job Purpose    

    • To capture data, update technical documentation, perform general office administration and provide administrative and an overall admin support function to the  Manager as well as all the other employees in the department.

    Principal Accountabilities    
    Perform general office administration functions to support the Senior Manager in daily running of the office: -

    • Stationery requisition
    • Staff administration functions
    • Travel arrangements for Manager and staff as and when necessary
    • Monitor all training requirements for the department. This includes scheduling training and making sure that there is no training that has lapsed
    • Perform taking of minutes and produce the required statistical graphs and reports
    • Investigate and arrange for the rectification of budget discrepancies weekly
    • Organise and co-ordinate staff administration and travel arrangements as required by the  Manager.
