    NGAP Coordinator (Five Years Contract)

    Requirements

    • A National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (sciences, finance, administration or management) coupled with four years of experience for the diploma or three years of experience for the degree.
    • A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
    • Experience in grants/programme/project management.
    • Experience in higher education will be an added advantage.
    • Knowledge of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)’s University Capacity Development Programme and the underpinning frameworks.
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • Knowledge of ITS system will be an added advantage.

    Duties

    • The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the administration of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) and other assigned SSAUF programmes to ensure adherence to the SOPs and university policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the grant-funded programme, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, programme objectives, grant guidelines and institutional policies.
    • Support and coordinate the preparation, collation, and submission of grant plans and proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and the University’s strategic objectives.
    • Maintain financial databases of all cost centres and monitor expenditure to avoid under/over expenditure and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
    • Monitor and track the performance and progress of the programmes or projects to ensure deliverables are met and are aligned with the plans and the SOP.
    • Coordinate the change management process and other grant-related administrative matters.
    • Consolidate and maintain documentation related to the programmes’ activities for reporting and audit purposes.
    • Prepare reports to support proper oversight of the assigned grants or programmes.
    • Coordinate the preparation and submission of the required reports to the Department.
    • Support the review and development of internal processes and procedures for implementing the funded programmes within the University.
    • Support the development of resources, tools and systems to streamline and improve grant administration.
    • Provide guidance and support in interpreting DHET SOPs and compliance requirements.
    • Assist the Manager in the internal and external audits of grant-funded programs and the implementation of corrective actions based on audit findings and recommendations.
    • Mitigate grant or programme risks and report or escalate to the respective Managers as required.
    • Act as a central point of contact for coordination and engagement with relevant stakeholders.
    • Handle grant-related enquiries and escalate to the respective managers and director as required.
    • Coordinate all activities, including meetings and workshops on the university programmes.
    • Facilitate the induction of Programme participants and ensure they understand the programme and relevant University policies.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for the Grants Management department.
    • Participate in committees and other university initiatives as assigned.
    • Perform other ad-hoc activities as required by Management within the framework of the role.

    Partnership Officer (B441)

    REQUREMENTS

    • Bachelor`s Degree in Business Management or equivalent qualification coupled with minimum of 4 years’ experience in an academic partnership office; demonstrated ability to work effectively with a highly diverse group of people.

    Director: Academic Planning and Quality Promotion

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and oversee academic planning in alignment with national and international regulatory bodies (DHET, CHE, SAQA, professional councils).
    • Advise and support faculties in all aspects of curriculum and programme design and development, including programme and other reviews.
    • Oversee the Implementation and management QA and quality monitoring projects at institutional level
    • Develop and implement academic policies to support programme and qualification excellence
    • Provide expert support to faculties in programme design, review, and quality assurance initiatives
    • Establish and enhance institutional structures that promote academic excellence.
    • Cultivate strategic partnerships with higher education associations, professional bodies, and international institutions.
    • Lead quality reviews and institutional-level QA projects to enhance academic integrity and performance.

    Minimum Requirements

    • PhD in a relevant field.
    • At least 10 years’ experience in academic planning, policy development, and quality assurance within higher education.
    • Deep knowledge of higher education regulatory frameworks and international academic trends.
    • Strong ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior university leadership and external bodies.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in the field of Quality Assurance will be an added advantage.

    Senior Professional Nurse

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or Advance Diploma in Nursing Sciences, Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care.
    •  He/she should have current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A dispensing certificate or license is mandatory.

    School Administrator: Management Sciences

    Requirements:

    • A relevant Honours degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
    • Four years of relevant university / tertiary education student administration experience with a high level of technical knowledge in the Student Administration field. Highly computer literate with in-depth knowledge of computer software and applicable technological systems, e.g., ITS, Oracle, Innopac, etc. Working knowledge of the higher education sector shall be an added advantage.

    Duties:

    • To provide effective and efficient student administration regarding applications, selection, admission, registration, and graduation to enhance higher student throughput rate.
    • To provide administrative support to the co-business of the faculties.
    • Responsible for admissions and registration of new and continuing students to different programs.
    • Determining whether students had fulfilled the requirements of their degrees for graduation purposes.
    • Capturing of completion of Qualification remarks
    • Take part in the arrangement of graduation ceremonies
    • Sending different correspondences to students
    • Coordination of examination matters.
    • Advise prospective students on qualifications offered in the faculties, admission requirements, and procedures.
    • Cleaning and correction of Student data for HEMIS submission
    • Handling of students’ application, selection, admission, and registration processes.
    • Promotion and fostering of compliance with University Statute; rules and regulations in the execution of Student Administrative activities.
    • Maintaining Student data for HEMIS reporting, and
    • Any delegated work by the Assistant Registrar: Student Administration.

    Senior Lecturer/Lecturer - Accounting and Auditing

    Position-specific requirements:

    SENIOR LECTURER:

    • A relevant Honours degree plus an accounting professional qualification (e.g., CA (SA), ACCA, CIMA)); or a relevant Master’s degree.
    • 5 years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or 7 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
    • Possession of 5 publications is an advantage, although not compulsory.
    • The above-mentioned professional members without relevant Masters degrees will be expected to register for the same qualification within 2 years after the appointment.

    LECTURER:

    • A relevant Honours degree.
    • 3 years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or 5 years of professional experience in the relevant field
    • Publications in peer reviewed and or non-peer reviewed journals will be a strong recommendation.

    Duties: 

    The candidates are expected to teach at least two modules from the following: 

    • Taxation and Financial Management in the Department of Accountancy at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in accordance with the requirements of syllabi by presenting lectures, tutorials and practical’s and assisting students with academic problems.
    • Ensuring that the modules taught comply with the required academic and other standards by compiling lecture notes, study guides and practical manuals for approval and that studying remains up to date.
    • Enhancing knowledge and skills in own field to benefit students and staff by collaborating on research projects, proposing/conducting own research, attending conferences/symposia, publishing/presenting papers, developing links with other academics locally and internationally and participating in the University’s community development program by preparing project proposals and leading/conducting approved projects.
    • The successful candidate will contribute to the departmental administration by assisting with registration, selection of students, and preparing and submitting budgets relevant to their field of study.

    Senior Lecturer/Lecturer - School of Law

    Requirements:

    Senior Lecturer: 

    Academic route: 

    • Doctoral degree in Law. The candidate should have a Doctor of Laws degree or PhD in Law, five years of teaching experience in a higher education institution, or seven years of relevant professional experience. The candidate should have three publications in accredited journals or accredited book chapters.

    Professional route: 

    • Candidate should have a Master of Laws degree coupled with an admission as an attorney or advocate. Candidates admitted as attorneys must attach proof of admission as an attorney, and candidates admitted as advocates must attach proof that they underwent pupillage/practical legal training for advocates, over and above proof of admission.
    • The candidate should also have ten (10) years of post-admission practice experience.  Candidates appointed through the professional route will be appointed on a five-year contract basis with the provision that the appointment will be converted to permanent upon attainment of a Doctoral degree within the five years of appointment.

    Lecturer:

    • Academic route: A Master of Laws degree and two years of teaching experience.
    • Professional route: A Master of Laws degree with five years post-admission experience. The candidate should be an admitted attorney or advocate who completed pupillage/practical legal training for advocates.

    Duties:

    • To teach undergraduate modules in any two of Jurisprudence, Legal Communication Skills, Interpretation of Statutes, Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Human Rights Law, Legal Research Methodology, Administrative Law, Public International Law, Criminal Law
    • Actively participate in school and departmental activities, including committee work
    • Senior lecturer candidates should demonstrate exemplary leadership in the Department of Public Law
    • To conduct research and supervise postgraduate students
    • To coordinate programmes, develop the curriculum, establish linkages with other academic institutions and community structures, and actively participate in community engagement initiatives.

    Requirements:

    Duties

    • The incumbent will teach functional areas of Project Management, Database Concepts, Programming (with good knowledge of most of the following: Python, Java, .NET, C#, C++), Internet and Web Design Technology (good knowledge of  Javascript, PHP, HTML, CSS), Database Systems Management (SQL & No SQL Databases, Oracle DB), Data Mining & Warehousing, Mobile and Wireless Information Systems, Business Intelligence Systems, Enterprise Database Systems, Research Methodology and other modules in the department for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
    • S/he will be responsible for curriculum development and compilation of teaching portfolios, supervision of research at the postgraduate level (Honors to PhD) and publishing in accredited journals.
    • Conducted community-based research, executed community and training projects, and assisted in academic administration.

    Professor

    • Evidence of supervision of at least four Masters/ Doctoral students to completion.

    • Evidence of current grant funding or other third-stream income from external sources and NRF rating will be an added advantage.

    Associate Professor

    • A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Victimological or Policing studies
    • At least 10 years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or 7 years professional experience in the relevant field.
    • At least 10 articles published in accredited journals, chapters in a book or a book publication.
    • Evidence of engagement in community projects which benefit both the University and the community.
    • Evidence of supervision of at least four Masters/ Doctoral students to completion.
    • NRF rating will be an added advantage.

    Senior Lecturer

    • A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Victimological or Policing studies
    • At least 5 years teaching experience at tertiary institution, or 7 years professional experience in the relevant field
    • At least 5 publications in accredited, peer reviewed journals, chapters in a book or a book publication.
    • Evidence of supervision of Master or Doctoral students to completion
    • Evidence of participation in community projects which benefits both the University and the community

    Duties:

    • The successful candidate will be expected to teach a module in criminal justice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
    • Supervise and/or co-supervise Masters and Doctoral students  
    • Produce the required publication output units
    • Actively participate in community engagement and maintain relationship with stakeholders
    • Participate in academic administration and departmental research and postgraduate committee
