    Lecturer: Tourism & Integrated Communication

    Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

    • Academic leadership – Teach and assess at undergraduate/postgraduate levels; Develop curriculum in applicable field of specialisation, influence the development, maintenance and control in field of specialisation.
    • Research – Undertake post-graduate research in field of specialisation, provide accredited research outputs and undertake post-graduate supervision and examination
    • Industry relationship building – Liaise with industry including consultation work/collaborative research and plan
    • Community engagement – Participate in community flagship programme/projects.
    • Administration – Conduct student and academic administration and reporting duties in line with responsibility
    • Internal process – Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line-manager.

    Qualifications and experience;

    • A completed Masters in relevant field of specialisation, Hospitality or Food Service Management.
    • Minimum of six (6) years teaching, learning, or at least six (6) years industrial or practice experience.
    • Relevant research experience will be a recommendation.

    Intellectual Property Manager

    Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

    • Lead efforts to generate and manage a robust IP portfolio.
    • rovide strategic guidance to researchers on IP identification, protection, and management.
    • Manage IP assessments and coordinate patent filing, trademark registration, and other relevant IP activities.
    • Align IP efforts with the university's innovation strategy, supporting research focused on IP generation and commercialization.
    • Ensure adherence to IP laws and institutional policies, managing IP-related contracts (licenses, agreements) and documentation.
    • Serve as the primary contact for external IP agents and attorneys, maintaining accurate IP records.
    • Collaborate closely with researchers to identify and protect potential IP arising from research activities.
    • Provide training and workshops on IP awareness, protection strategies, and commercialization pathways.
    • Act as a liaison between researchers, TTO, and external stakeholders to facilitate IP-related projects.
    • Engage with external stakeholders, fostering collaboration with industry partners and internal departments to promote innovation and commercialization.

    Qualifications and experience:

    • LLB, or BCom Law Hons, or
    • BSc/BEng with PGDip in IP Law or Technology Management.
    • Advanced Certification in Intellectual Property Management.
    • Minimum of 3 years in Intellectual Property Management, Technology Transfer, or Research Commercialization.

    Senior Lecturer-Chemistry: Organic

    Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

    • Compile work schemes in collaboration with colleagues
    • Research and utilize new and emerging approaches and technology in teaching
    • Professionally prepare teaching media and handouts to supplement or substitute prescribed textbooks.
    • Research and select suitable reference material to supplement textbooks
    • Facilitate an effective teaching situation in which the learning experience can take place successfully.
    • Upgrade course content/ develop new courses and/or modules in order to keep up with the latest requirements of the discipline
    • Manage student and peer evaluations of teaching performance and application of appropriate assessment methods
    • Participate in external examining and invitations to teach externally and contribute to curriculum development
    • Contribute to community engagement initiatives and Integrate interventions into curriculum and research engagements
    • Report on own involvement in professional, industry and/or community activities
    • Participate in curriculum review and the development of new courses/modules to ensure alignment with sector/discipline norms and requirements
    • Revise and submit programmes for accreditation by relevant accreditation bodies
    • Identify students at risk timeously, develop intervention strategies, provide counselling to students and monitor student progress
    • Contribute to Quality Assurance through committee meetings and submission of relevant documents
    • Monitor the impact of QA recommendations within the faculty/department and implement appropriate interventions

    • Set annual objectives pertaining to academic programmes and participate in the review of teaching, research, community engagement and academic administration objectives

    • Keep abreast of developments within own field of study and its implications for teaching and learning, community engagement, research, etc. whilst keeping abreast of developments in professional conduct at VUT
    • Register as a member of professional bodies to keep abreast of all developments (where appropriate) and engage in current professional development activities
    • Prepare development plan for promotion to the next level, within stipulated time frame
    • Attend conferences, seminars and workshops and present research study papers at conferences
    • Acts as a study leader, conduct appropriate research, publish research results, keep abreast of professional literature and obtain research grants

    Qualification and Experience:

    • Doctoral degree (or NQF level 10 equivalent) in Inorganic Chemistry is recommended
    • At least 3 years work experience in key areas of teaching and learning theory and practice in a higher education context
    • Computational Chemistry will be an advantage.
    • Experience in an academic environment in professional development is recommended
    • In-depth understanding of learning, teaching and assessment practices
    • Contribution in research and publication record in the last 3 years
    • Sound record of student supervision in the last 3 years

    • Capability to raise research grants is preferred.

    • Contribution in research and publication record in the last 3 years
    • Sound record of student supervision in the last 3 years
