    Supervisor Electrical

    Job Description:

    As our Supervisor Electrical Day your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    Safety, Health, and Environment

    • Prioritise safety and health in all team interactions and lead by example to achieve zero harm and prevent fatalities.
    • Lead by example, fostering a safety-first culture.

    • Provide accurate inputs to the forecasting process.
    • Present area-related and global targets to the team.
    • Participate in the review and development of the Service Strategies and monitor the measures to verify their delivery.

    Maintenance Planning:

    • Ensure that an electrical maintenance plan exists for every piece of equipment and that maintenance is done according to standards or the prescribed maintenance policy.
    • Comply with all requirements set out by AAOM and E&M best practice guidelines related to Planning.

    Maintenance Scheduling:

    • Implement and manage maintenance schedules while knowing production targets to ensure minimal interruption.
    • Preventive maintenance is carried out according to schedule, equipment failure is minimal, and availability is maintained within the set targets.
    • Comply with all work requirements set out by the AAOM and E&M best practice guidelines relating to Maintenance Scheduling).

    Maintenance Execution:

    • Comply with all execution requirements set out by the AAOM and E&M best practice guidelines, ensuring adherence to standards and procedures.
    • Participate in at least four planned weekly task observations as part of in-field quality assurance verification to uphold operational excellence.
    • Manage the electrical maintenance or repair of equipment, machines, vehicles, processes, and tools to ensure maximum availability and consistently meet required quality standards.
    • Identify improvement opportunities, implement feasible solutions, and maintain newly established performance standards for continuous enhancement.
    • Proactively provide advice to prevent potential problems and address components causing excessive downtime with permanent solutions.
    • Report on completed electrical maintenance requirements and trends, maintaining a comprehensive overview.
    • Ensure authorised staff maintain all electrical maintenance, upholding safety and procedural protocols.
    • Provide technical knowledge and guidance to team members for daily problem-solving and skill development.
    • Contribute input on Equipment and Components PMECA for strategic planning and improvement initiatives.
    • Execute activities to meet the plan and collaborate with Maintenance and Supply Chain to define the SLA requirements.
    • Comply with the Asset Management policy and system requirements for effective asset handling and optimisation.
    • Utilise provided systems to monitor and manage expenditures efficiently.
    • Execute inspection strategy and coordinate activities related to asset integrity in the designated area, ensuring compliance with established standards.

    Engineering & Maintenance Measures and Control:

    • Execute daily data validation and reconciliation requirements, diligently closing out work orders and capturing accurately coded and reported data within an appropriate timeframe.
    • Participate in the Continuous Improvement plans and engage in RCAs to manage Defect Elimination.

    Tools, Facilities, Workshops:

    • Execute housekeeping as required and conduct workplace inspections to ensure electrical maintenance is performed as planned and to standard.

    Contractor Management:

    • Comply with contractor management standards and procedures and monitor contractor performance based on defined KPIs.

    Sustainability and Social:

    • Execute the delivery of the sustainability activities relevant to the discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time.
    • Deliver a Sustainable Mining Plan execution relevant to the discipline.
    • Comply with environmental and social requirements as relevant to the discipline.
    • Utilise environmental and social risk mitigation techniques relevant to the discipline specified in the asset risk management approach.

    People and Teams:

    • Lead by example and support a purpose-driven, high-performance culture based on company values, inclusion, and diversity principles.
    • Foster team member development through coaching while maintaining the right skills mix within the team through developing and executing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all team members.

    Compliance:

    • Ensure that all local compliance requirements are met as a baseline for site performance.
    • Follow all relevant Anglo American compliance standards related to Engineering and ensure team compliance.
    • Abide by all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures while acting at the next higher level when required.

    This role is in the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) department on a band 7.8 (C4) level reporting to the General Engineering Supervisor DSO.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 Certificate/N3 Technical
    • Higher National Vocational Certificate (Electrical Engineering field) on NQF5
    • Trade Certificate (Electrical Engineering discipline)
    • MV/HV Switching Authorisation Certificate

    Planner

    Job Description:

    As our Planner your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    Safety, Health, and Environment

    Performance and Delivery

    Operational Planning

    • Translate the Asset strategy developed by Reliability Engineers into Effective Maintenance Plans with sufficient task details (tasks, sequencing of activities, resource requirements, overall job time definition).
    • Continuously improve maintenance plans by validating and ensuring accuracy (BOMs, components, part numbers).
    • Develop maintenance plans in SAP for all new assets before coming to the site.

    Work Management

    Routine Work Planning (PM03/PM15):

    • Verify that all tactical work orders meet the required standard before releasing and issuing them. This includes ensuring that work centres, functional locations, descriptions, PRTs, resources, task durations, operational networking, dates, conditions, constraints, and all necessary safety instructions are accurate.
    • Maintain all tactical work (PM03/PM15) executed outside the original scheduled date as urgent work following the mine standard. The WM Planner is responsible for ensuring that tactical PM03 orders are closed out daily in the SAP system after the execution and return of the job cards.
    • Coordinate all change requirements for tactical PM03 work orders with the Reliability department. If changes are needed, the WM planner must communicate them to the accountable department using the correct change management process to make the necessary modifications.

    Ad-hoc Work Generation (PM01 Orders):

    • Capture any ad hoc notifications in the system per work management standards when required.
    • Check SAP Transaction IW28 daily to identify notifications with the Approved (APD), Open (OPN), or Cancelled (NCD) status.
    • Notify the accountable FLM to approve or cancel notifications in open status for more than 24 hours.
    • Convert all open notifications with APD status to a PM Order to continue planning daily tasks.
    • Inform the FLM if the notification is not approved or cancelled according to standard, i.e., the required date, task description, functional location, impact, and upper-cost limit.
    • Click the “Create” button next to the Order field to create the PM Order once satisfied and choose a PM Order Type.
    • Communicate any notifications with OPN status longer than 24 hours to the FLM daily for immediate attention. If no response is received, escalate the issue.
    • Notify the CC daily of any open notifications with NCD status created by the CC Clerks for feedback to the Originator and closure.
    • Communicate any open notifications with NCD status created by WMP daily, along with the cancellation details, and close them to the originator.

    Daily Planning Routine:

    • Daily review of the Task Status Report to aid in prioritising work planning and tracking upcoming work.
    • Update work centre capacity for the weeks ahead.
    • Create or complete the required planning job cards.
    • Attend and actively participate in all management routines, such as daily feedback and weekly schedule draft reviews.
    • Identify and promptly escalate all critical issues that may threaten the successful planning of work orders for completion by their required date.

    Specification of work/task (Daily):

    • Plan approved work orders, including routine and ad hoc work (Within your area of responsibility) for resource provision and execution before the required date as defined by the business.
    • Specify and sequence tasks to be executed, including any precision to be incorporated.
    • Ensure that hazards, controls, and permit requirements are structured according to guidelines.
    • Ensure that instructions and procedures are followed according to guidelines.
    • Ensure that all work orders meet the work management planning process requirements.

    Resource Specification (Daily):

    • Plan all labour and materials needed for the work to standard and ensure timely execution.
    • Ensure that tools, services, equipment, and contract resources are planned to standard and delivered on time.
    • Adjust task durations as per the plan and adhere to them.
    • Initiate resources and orders on time for all approved tasks.
    • Facilitate the Work Management process by planning all required resources for approved work on the work order.

    Cost detail:

    • Escalate promptly if the cost of planned work exceeds the upper-cost limit initially established by the FLM to obtain approval for completing the Work order planning.
    • Specify the correct cost centres for the work to be executed.

    Specify scheduling details:

    • Ensure task sequencing according to the prescribed plan.
    • Ensure adherence and execution of tasks as per the latest and earliest start dates.
    • Complete timely release of work orders.
    • Plan for thorough Job tracking and reference for history requirements.

    Analyse and improve planning:

    • Analyse current planning trends and recommend and obtain approval for amendments to the template where improvements are specified.

    Work Order Closure (Daily):

    • Ensure received work orders are confirmed/ partially confirmed and completed correctly in SAP in time according to business requirements.
    • Ensure all returned work orders and all other applicable documentation are filed and stored as per business requirements.

    Managerial Routines (Weekly):

    • Assist and participate in weekly Schedule draft and formal review meetings.
    • Ensure proper documentation of all necessary information.
    • Attend the daily notifications review and approval meeting with the Reliability Engineer and Supervisor.
    • Attend the daily supervisor and artisan caucus meeting.

    Issue Work packages (weekly):

    • Issue work packages and execution schedules for the following week.

    Maintenance Strategy:

    • Ensure the maintenance strategy and associated master data are correct and applicable to the requirements.
    • Ensure the B670 and B302 process is followed accordingly.

    Maintenance Schedule:

    • Ensure the proper transfer and migration of data related to the maintenance schedule is correct and applicable to the specified requirements

    This role is in the Engineering (ENG) department on a band 7.8 level reporting to the Planning Advisor Trucks & Shovels.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
    • NQF5 Higher National Qualification, e.g., N4
    • NQF6 – relevant National Diploma (Preferred)
    • Trade Certificate in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Heavy Earthmoving Mechanic (HEM), Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Electrician, Auto Electrician, Fitter or Millwright.
    • Pragma - Maintenance Planner Certificate (Preferred)
    • SA Drivers Licence

    Technical Knowledge

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a mining operational environment.

    Principal, Mechanical Engineering Design and Analysis

    Job Description:

    • We are seeking a Principal, Mechanical Engineering Design and Analysis to be the Subject Matter Expert in the Mechanical Engineering discipline - defining, implementing and supporting the application of best-practice, and providing specialist technical support and detailed analysis in all matters relating to Mechanical Engineering across Anglo American.

    • Actively engage and collaborate with industry and OEMs to keep abreast of best practices, and to build relationships and ensure a high technical standard of equipment delivery, field support and service delivery.

    • Closely collaborate with Supply Chain on the specifications for equipment, quality management and strategic planning with suppliers.
    • Conduct site and supplier visits to understand local conditions, planning procedures, quality, etc.
    • Mentorship of young mechanical engineers

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors/Honours degree or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
    • Professional Engineer with ECSA (SA), CREA (Brazil), CIP (Peru), IENG (UK) or CIC (Chile)

    Desirable:

    • A postgraduate Engineering qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent).

    Technical skills / knowledge requirements:

    • Demonstrated focus on safety in mechanical design, operations and maintenance
    • Technical Knowledge Demonstrated knowledge of operational complexities experienced as an engineer in an industrial, mining and processing operation
    • Good understanding of national and international standards
    • Demonstrated experience in all matters relating to the Mechanical Engineering discipline in the mining industry, to include:
    • heavy industry and mining equipment – crushers, screens, mills, thickeners, conveyor systems, HME, and all related mechanical equipment/infrastructure
    • advanced engineering analysis – FEA, DEM, dynamic simulations, digital engineering, etc.
