    Junior Technical Product Owner - Sandton

    Job Description

    • Our client is looking for a dynamic, energetic, innovative, strategic, and self-motivated individual to work
    • from their Johannesburg Office. The candidate must have a solid work ethic, be able to work under deadline, engage and collaborate with team members/management and be able to follow directions and respect department / corporate policies.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the senior Product Owner in developing components of the product roadmap.
    • Engage with in-house business leaders and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into a technical agenda for development & deployment to production.
    • Define product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities.
    • Work with internal and external contacts to analyze needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals.
    • Assess, and prioritise the product backlog.

    • Hand over and high-level support of deployed functionality to business.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Accounting / Finance / Information Technology Science/Engineering/ Mathematics/related field or equivalent experience
    • Great interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong competency in business process design and analysis
    • Ability to see and present "the big picture" and offer solutions for improvement
    • Practical experience in the design/re-engineering of business processes
    • Proven (technology) project management experience
    • Scrum/Agile training (and practical experience) advantageous
    • Familiarity with modern cloud technology, SaaS products and low code platforms advantageous
    • Working knowledge of IT systems fundamentals e.g., databases, integration patterns

    Office Of The Chief Commercial Officer

    ROLE OVERVIEW:

    • The Office of the Chief Commercial Officer (OOCCO) is a strategic supporting role to the Chief Commercial and Product Officer.  As the right hand to the CCO, the OOCCO runs with key projects and initiatives to help drive strategic direction, runs detailed analyses to provide deep insight to business performance and key issues, helps in managing key teams, driving growth and ensuring operational excellence in the team.
    • This role blends data science, commercial analytics, strategic problem solving, and operational leadership, ensuring that the CCO’s office operates with precision and that critical initiatives land successfully.
    • The OOCCO will work across business development, operations, product development, client success, technology, and strategic projects — gaining end to end exposure to how a global financial services business is run.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

    Strategic Support

    • Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve company goals.

    • Build and maintain advanced Excel financial models, scenario analyses, and commercial projections.

    • Apply data science aligned thinking — statistical reasoning, data investigation, and trend analysis — to advise on product performance, client behaviour and revenue levels.

    Operational Management

    • Assists in monitoring day-to-day items and progress against objectives as well as project management, process improvement and reporting to enhance efficiency and productivity.

    Project Management

    • Lead critical cross functional initiatives from inception to delivery, ensuring alignment across Product, Operations, Tech, Business Development, and Client Success.
    • Create strong project structures, timelines, and governance frameworks to ensure accountability and impact.

    QUALIFICATION:

    • CA(SA) or similar.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 1 year post article’s experience, ideally in a highly analytical or commercially oriented environment.

    COMPENTENCIES AND SKILLS:

    • Expert level Excel: complex modelling, advanced formulas, sensitivity analyses; macros/VBA advantageous.
    • Power BI expertise: DAX, power queries, data cleaning, dashboard automation, and data storytelling. 
    • High proficiency in working with large datasets, analysing trends, identifying anomalies, and producing structured insights.
    • Strong financial and commercial acumen — ability to analyse margins, pricing, revenue drivers, and client performance.
    • Project management capability, with the ability to structure, plan, and execute multi stakeholder initiatives.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills across diverse teams.

    Head Of Key Account Relationships

    Role Overview:

    • The Head of Key Account Relationships is a senior, client-facing manager responsible for overseeing our client's most strategic enterprise-level relationships across the asset manager and asset owner landscape.
    • This role requires a sophisticated relationship builder with deep financial services acumen, a thorough understanding of institutional investment environments, and the ability to engage confidently with executives, boards, and operational leaders at major global institutions.
    • You will serve as the strategic partner and primary point of escalation for key accounts driving retention, uncovering potential issues early, identifying expansion opportunities, and strengthening their commercial relevance within each client ecosystem.

    Requirements

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Relationship Leadership

    • Serve as the executive relationship lead for the company's largest and most complex institutional clients, ensuring exceptional service, trust, and long-term strategic alignment.
    • Build and maintain deep relationships with senior stakeholders including COOs, CFOs, Heads of Tax, Operations Directors, and investment governance teams.
    • Develop tailored relationship strategies per account, including account mapping and multi-stakeholder engagement plans.

    Enterprise Account Growth & Product Insight

    • Identify opportunities for account expansion, cross-sell, and deeper penetration across client entities, funds, regions, and legal structures.
    • Partner with the CCO and Product leadership to bring client insights into product strategy, innovation, and service model enhancements.

    Client Advocacy & Strategic Problem Solving

    • Act as the trusted advisor to clients on their reclaim strategy, regulatory changes, and operational efficiencies related to withholding tax recovery.
    • Navigate complex client structures, resolving high-priority issues and removing obstacles that affect service delivery or client satisfaction.

    Cross-Functional Teamwork

    • Work closely with Client Service, Operations, Product, and Legal teams to ensure seamless execution across the entire reclaim lifecycle.
    • Provide executive-level updates to company leadership on account health, risks, and growth trends.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Education:

    • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred.
    • Strong understanding of institutional investment environments including asset managers, pension funds, insurers, and sovereign funds.

    Experience:

    • 5+ years in financial services, asset management, asset servicing, consulting, or similar institutional B2B environments.
    • Proven success managing enterprise-level client relationships, ideally with global or multi-stakeholder accounts.
    • Strong commercial acumen with experience in strategic account planning, contract negotiation, or revenue growth.

    • Executive-level relationship management capability credible, articulate, and influential.
    • Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
