• Current registration with the HPCSA as an independent Medical Practitioner and proof of current annual registration are compulsory. Appropriate clinical experience as a Medical Officer is required.
• Previous experience or demonstrated exposure in a Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging Department will be an added advantage. Previous Registrar training or Registrar-level exposure in Radiology will be an added advantage.
• Completion of relevant Radiology primary examinations will also be an added advantage. The candidate should have an interest in Diagnostic Radiology and demonstrate sound clinical knowledge, appropriate clinical judgement, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Knowledge of radiation safety, patient safety, clinical governance and applicable healthcare legislation and policies will be advantageous. Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, is required.
• Familiarity with digital radiology systems, including PACS/RIS, where applicable, will be an added advantage. Inherent requirement of the post: Participation in the hospital's after-hours call system is compulsory, including participation in Commuted Overtime in accordance with applicable policies and prescripts

Duties :

• Provide Medical Officer services within the Radiology Department under appropriate specialist supervision and in accordance with the incumbent's level of competence and scope of practice. Assess patients referred for diagnostic imaging, review relevant clinical information and investigations, and contribute to determining the most appropriate imaging examination in consultation with referring clinicians and supervising specialists.
• Participate in the interpretation and reporting of diagnostic imaging examinations within the Medical Officer's demonstrated level of competence and under appropriate specialist oversight. This may include plain radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and other imaging modalities available within the institution.
• Perform and/or assist with appropriate radiological procedures within the incumbent's level of training, competence and scope of practice. Ensure appropriate patient preparation, informed consent where required, and safe clinical management before, during and after procedures.
• Participate in the provision of emergency and after-hours radiology services, including the assessment and prioritisation of urgent imaging requests and appropriate escalation of complex or critical findings.
• Promote the safe, appropriate and cost-effective utilisation of diagnostic imaging services. Liaise with referring clinicians regarding imaging indications, appropriate investigations and significant or urgent radiological findings. Work collaboratively with Radiologists, Radiographers, Nurses, clinicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred radiology services.
• Participate in departmental clinical governance and quality-improvement activities, including clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, adverse-event and near-miss reviews, radiation safety activities and implementation of corrective measures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable radiation protection requirements, departmental protocols, standard operating procedures, patient safety standards, infection prevention and control measures and relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical and radiological records and ensure that reports, requests and other relevant documentation are completed accurately and timeously.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings and contribute radiological input to patient management where appropriate. Participate in departmental teaching, academic activities, continuing professional development, clinical audits and research. Maintain and progressively develop knowledge and competencies in Diagnostic Radiology through supervised clinical exposure and self-directed learning.
• Contribute to effective patient flow and turnaround times within the Radiology Department and assist in identifying and addressing operational challenges affecting imaging services. Participate in the responsible utilisation and safeguarding of radiological equipment and other departmental resources and promptly report equipment, patient safety or service-delivery risks through the appropriate channels.
• Participate in the departmental after-hours service and Commuted Overtime roster as determined by operational requirements. Perform other reasonable clinical, administrative, academic and governance duties delegated by the Head of Radiology, Clinical Manager or Hospital Management

Requirements :

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent. Basic Diploma/Degree that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
• A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• At least six (06) years of the period referred above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience in Child Nursing Specialty after obtaining a one (01) year post-basic qualification in relevant specialty.
• Diploma or Degree in Health Service Management/ Nursing Administration or Management. At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience at Nursing management level.
• Proof of current year SANC registration. Demonstrate computer literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to compile presentations and draft professional reports.

Duties :

• Delegate, supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate Specialized Child nursing care aligned to Nursing guidelines, practices, policies and procedures.
• Monitor implementation of priority programs, EMTCT, MBFI, IMCI, EPI, etc. Adhere to Principles of Infection Prevention and Control. Be flexible and be able to prioritize, respond and advocate for best Paediatric clinical outcomes. Monitor and ensure proper allocation and utilization of human, financial and physical resources. Establish and maintain constructive working relationship with clinical and non-clinical staff that will allow consistent flow of patient care by a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensure compliance with Health and safety standards and IHRM (Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance) and OHSC (Office of Health Standard Compliance) including safe standards for emergency readiness, disaster management and prevention/ management of patient safety incidents. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and development of self and subordinates through ongoing training and research. Provide support to staff regarding clinical and non-clinical matters and engage in problem solving/ conflict management.
• Ensure effective Data governance. Guide and supervise implementation of Operational plans as guided by GDOH Annual Performance plan. Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required by operational needs. Knowledge of PFMA and Supply Chain Management Regulations and other regulatory framework
