    Readvertisement: Coordinator: Collegial Clusters 2-Year Contract

    Main Objectives

    • To ensure the smooth coordination of the collegial cluster project in all its facets.
    • Deliver high-quality teaching and research within the program.
    • Deliver accurate reporting on the cluster coordination and maintain records of the related activities.

    The Requirement

    A relevant Teachers Qualification (NQF 7) coupled with 5 years of classroom Mathematics Education experience, which includes: - 

    • Teaching experience as a classroom mathematics teacher up to grade 10
    • Experience with the facilitation of learning to adults will be an advantage
    • Exposure to the field of Mathematics Education by working in rural communities in a teacher professional development program
    • Coordination of a professional development program
    • Previous experience writing reports
    • Previous experience setting exams and assessments, including the written evaluation thereof
    • Previous experience in conducting site visits as part of assessment
    • A record of academic writing would be an advantage
    • A valid driver’s license

    Project Administrator (Re-advertisement)

    Main Objectives

    • To provide effective and efficient financial and administrative control and reporting for the designated research group (NRF SARChI Chair) per the University’s and funders’ policies and procedures, and to produce accurate and timeous financial reports prepared per university and funders’ guidelines.
    • Additionally, to provide efficient and practical support to a large research group working in a socially sensitive research area, including several academics, researchers, post-docs, and postgraduate students.

    The Requirements

    • Grade 12 with approximately four years of relevant experience. A post-matric qualification will be advantageous. The required experience should include:
    • Previous experience which demonstrates a thorough understanding of financial management and accounting principles, with the ability to consolidate sets of accounts in the required format/s in an electronic environment
    • The ability to investigate and reconcile multiple accounts is essential
    • Previous experience in working within a computerised accounting environment and having worked with Excel at an advanced level
    • Previous experience in working with word processing (including being able to create and maintain databases), e-mail and the Internet
    • Previous experience in setting up and maintaining filing and administrative systems.
    • Previous experience in the use of social media for marketing purposes, update and maintain websites, and creating graphics.
    • Candidates who have Personal Assistance experience and/or media management would be an advantage
    • Ability to organize functions and events.

    Manager Secretariat and Governance

    Main Objectives

    • To strategically develop systems and processes in order to ensure the provision of efficient, professional and quality administrative and secretariat support services to University Committees and governance structures of the University as required. 

    The Requirements

    A B. Degree (NQF Level 7), or equivalent, plus approximately 6 years' relevant experience, where such experience includes: -

    • Excellent English language skills in writing succinct and synthesised reports and minutes
    • Previous experience in a Secretariat and Governance function, preferably within a Higher Education environment.
    • Previous experience working with committees, including scheduling and organising meetings, and a track record of doing so efficiently; preparing agendas for meetings; taking minutes of meetings; meeting deadlines with a track record of doing so.
    • Previous administrative experience within a computerised administration environment, which includes good organisational and planning skills as well as problem-solving and time-management skills.
    • Experience working with large volumes of work.
    • Track record of using technology to create efficiencies and improve service.
    • Track record of continuous improvement.
    • Ability to lead a team and previous supervision/management experience of at least three years.
    • Experience in website content management is an advantage.
    • Excellent typing skills, including typing draft minutes/notes in meetings.

    Re-Advertisement Librarian: Scholarly Communication & Postgraduate Support

    Main Objectives

    • The Librarian: Scholarly Communication will contribute to the library's overall postgraduate and researcher experience by facilitating a working relationship with the Research Office and the Postgraduate Centre. 
    • The emerging demand of the digital environment requires the library to ensure the accessibility and visibility of the institutional research output and the ethical use thereof. The incumbent will also be responsible for initiating and coordinating Open Access activities and raising awareness of scholarly communications.

    The Requirements

    A relevant B Degree (NQF level 7) and approximately 6 years’ relevant experience, where such experience includes:-

    • Having worked in a computerised academic or research library for at least 4 years.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a scholarly communication or research support environment.
    • Current exposure to computer literacy, IT applications and electronic library & information tools applied in the research environment.
    • Supervisory experience would be advantageous.

    Manager: Media Liaison/Relations

    Main Objectives

    • The Media Relations Manager is responsible for shaping, safeguarding, and enhancing the University’s reputation and public profile across local, national, and international media platforms.
    • The incumbent should be a highly strategic and proactive professional capable of operating with a significant degree of autonomy to cultivate, manage, and sustain strong relationships with a diverse range of media stakeholders, including print, digital, broadcast, and specialist outlets.
    • Working closely with Communications Officers and other units within the Division, the incumbent will coordinate the development and dissemination of high-quality institutional narratives that reflect the University’s values, achievements, and strategic priorities. This includes the effective placement of stories across appropriate media channels to maximise visibility and impact.
    • The role also encompasses effective management of media engagement, including news, editorial processes, and crisis communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and aligned messaging at all times and strategic responses to protect the University’s reputation during heightened scrutiny.

    The Requirements

    A relevant B Degree in either Journalism and Media Studies, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, plus approximately 7 years relevant experience, where such experience includes: -

    • An excellent and proven network of relationships with regional, national and international media.
    • Proven experience in the field at a newspaper, magazine or broadcaster.
    • Experience in the deployment of a crisis communications campaign.
    • Ability to commission and oversee video and audio production.
    • At least 3 years’ management experience.
    • Experience in higher education would be an added advantage.

    Readvertisement: Associate Professor in Information Systems

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research) and community engagement, and recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or university levels.
