    Job Purpose:

    Artisan Plumber: Water Meters (Permanent)

    Job Purpose:

    • Responsible for maintenance and repairing of water meters, bulk water lines and pump stations within the Breede Valley Municipal area. 

    Duties: 

    • Performs specific tasks and duties associated with the maintenance of water meters, bulk water lines and pump station. 
    • Repair and maintain water meters – remove faulty meter and install new meters. Test for leakages.  
    • Repair burst pipes on bulk lines and attend to plumbing duties at all water treatment works. 
    • Completes internal transactional documentation (e.g. tally sheets, log sheet, progress report, etc.) and related forms (vehicle checklist). 
    • Capture operational data on computer software using a computer.

    Job Purpose: 

    • Performs and controls the civil works operations with respect to Solid Waste, Roads, Storm Water, Water and Sewer and Buildings infrastructure, inclusive of the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting sequences of outcomes and procedures associated with key service delivery objectives, establishing resource requirements, planning and scheduling maintenance and construction programmes involving technical, statistical and managerial investigations (problem resolution), monitoring and attending to deviations in productivity and performance and attending to specific administrative and information reporting requirements and processes in order to ensure legal compliance and that technical requirements be met. 

    Duties: 

    • Identifies with the Technical Services strategy with respect to service delivery and implements and monitors the short-term plans/objectives for the Depots. Implements procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work sequences associated with the functionality. Co-ordinates tasks/activities associated with the implementation of procedures and monitoring and reporting on sequences/outcomes.
    • Project managing planned development projects (Solid Waste, Roads, Storm Water, Water and Sewer and Buildings). Provides technical support with regards to land surveying.
    • Performs and coordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality. Plans, prioritises and schedules construction and maintenance projects/programmes.
    • Liaising with external/internal bodies (ward committees, community, consultants, developers, etc.) regarding infrastructural development initiatives. Adheres to technical standards and safety legislation by complying with the OHS Act, procedures, policies and guidelines.  

    Minimum Requirements:  

    • National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent (NQF 6). 
    • Valid Code B Driver’s License. 
    • 3 years’ relevant experience. 
    • Computer literacy (MS Office, CAD & Civil Designer). 
    • Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape.

    Job Purpose: 

    • Performs supervisory tasks/ activities associated with monitoring and reporting on the progress and execution of specific arboriculture maintenance work of parks and open spaces, transportation of material/ equipment and personnel to/ from work sites. 

    Duties: 

    • Receiving instructions/ work orders from the immediate superior and establishing details of tasks (vehicle, materials and personnel). 
    • Discussing and scheduling priorities (site visits, etc) and clarifying specific requirements for allocation and execution at sites. 
    • Liaise with the public on complaints received and resolve the complaint. 
    • Inspecting safety devices, controls, lubricant levels, etc on vehicles and reports defects to the immediate superior. 
    • Setting up signage and safety signals to accommodate traffic and pedestrian flow.

    • Transporting personnel, material and equipment to/ from specific locations. 
    • Oversee that the working area is clean and safe. 
    • Driving and manoeuvring the vehicles and engaging controls to operate mechanisms (mounted cranes; cherry picker) to facilitate specific sequences (tipping, hoisting etc). 
    • Controlling the utilization of materials (sand, crusher dust, etc.) and discharging/ offloading required quantities of materials for maintenance. 
    • Ensure details of activities are accurately recorded enabling the processing of personnel, time and material allocation and utilization for specific assignments. 
    • Supervising personnel/ subordinates, leading and guiding staff. 
    • Monitor the attendance and leave of subordinates. 
    • Ensure a well-maintained designated vehicle and the accurate capturing of kilometres in accordance with the laid down Procedures, Policies and guidelines. 
    • Ensure that staff comply with Safety regulations. 

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 10 
    • Valid Code EC1 driver ’s license plus PrDP 
    • Certification of competency in the operation of truck and heavy-duty equipment (Code C53) 
    • Relevant experience (24 – 36 months)

    Duties:  

    • Driving to designated locations. 
    • Checking area for obstacles prior to engaging specific controls to set mower equipment and starting the cutting operations. 
    • Cutting overgrown grass and/ or trimming lawns, manoeuvring equipment and adjusting blade heights according to terrain to achieve optimum cuts. 
    • Watering of trees with tractor mounted water tanks. 
    • Weed control with tractor mounted with herbicide sprayer. 
    • Receiving instructions and/ or communicating with the immediate superior to establish details of tasks (vehicle, tools and materials). 
    • Regular cleaning of vehicle. 
    • Hitching/ unhitching mower equipment to the vehicle, connecting and checking the functionality of safety signal indicators. 
    • Inspecting safety devices, controls, lubricants/ fuel levels, etc on vehicles and checking the condition of cutting blades on the equipment, reporting defects, and/ or washing/ cleaning the vehicle/ equipment and attending basic removal/ replacement of defective parts/ components (tyres, etc). 
    • Checking the oil, water, tyre pressure, fuel level, etc of the designated vehicle. 
    • Reporting all defaults immediately to the immediate superior. 
    • Ensuring that the designated vehicle, equipment and implements are kept in a neat and tidy condition. 
    • Ensure a well-maintained designated vehicle and the accurate capturing of kilometres in accordance with the laid down Procedures, Policies and guidelines. 
    • Wear appropriate PPE when performing duties. 
    • Adhere to standard operating procedures and instructions when utilizing specific machinery and equipment. 
    • Adhere to instructions pertaining to chemicals and reagents used.
