PURPOSE
- The aim is to oversee SHEQ Co-ordination within BU, compile combine, reports, and manage all safety aspects in order to deliver compliance towards internal and external environmental requirements. To create an environment where duties can be performed safely and risks are known and managed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Policy, Targets, Objectives & Goals
- Ensure that the current policies are displayed at all areas of the operation.
- Comply with the objectives, goals and targets set by the company.
Legal Aspects/Requirements
- Ensure company practices comply with legal and other requirements falling in the risk management domain.
- Give on-going report on legislative and other amendments relevant to the risk domain and comply as required.
- Ensure submissions of applicable statutory documents.
Training
- Assist in managing training interventions to equip all employees to have the necessary skills to be competent to perform their roles with the least amount of risk possible.
Risk Assessment
- Ensure that the necessary risk assessments and action plans are compiled, maintained and reviewed.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Compile necessary planning documents to effectively execute job requirements posed by the risk management domain.
- Regularly perform risk audits as per requirements.
Reporting, Recording and/or Review
- Submit monthly reports as required. Report all incidents to the responsible individuals as per company procedure.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management.
- SAMTRAC, COMSOC 1 and 2, ISO 45001:2018 Implementation.
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 years’ experience in a mining & construction safety environment as a safety Officer or similar.
- Knowledge of the OHS act, Mine Health and Safety Act.
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRE
- Must be an expert in safety orientation.
- Must have an advanced understanding of legislation & policy orientated.
- Must have a good understanding of managing relationships.
- Must have an advanced understanding communicating effectively.

PURPOSE
- The aim of the Operations Supervisor is to ensure that tasks are carried out on site and on shift regarding Safety, Environment and Productivity. To assist the Superintendent and other line managers with the efficient and effective running of the site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Business / Functional Management
- Execute operational and technical duties in line with organisational directives.Support implementation of business initiatives as directed in their area.
Financial, Commercial and Contracts Management
- Work with materials and equipment in a cost-effective way, as per standard operating procedures and practice notes as directed by line manager.
- Ensure full compliance to material usage requirements in executing duties.
- Risk Management and Compliance, Including Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Responsibility
- Execute all duties in strict compliance to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and legislation, to ensure the company's responsibility is met.
- Comply with all reporting and information requirements as set by the Superintendent.
Stakeholder Management (Internal and External)
- Ensure professional interaction with stakeholders from operator to junior management level.
- Maintain working relationships with support functions on site and at head office, as required to deliver in their section against standards.
Operations and Project Management
- Contribute to plan / schedule generation for daily / shift work, in line with project goals.
- Responsible for operational execution of work, through delivery of own tasks and duties, as well as supervision of the work for the team on shift.
Management Operating Systems and Reporting
- Ensure all paperwork and posters are displayed on the site office wall and kept up to date.
- Ensure all reported near misses are recorded following procedure and submitted weekly.
- Technical Management
- Responsible for adherence to technical standards and work methods, for section, in accordance with organisational and client requirements, policies, procedures and legislation.
SHEQ Management
- Check sums are right on plan drawings and quantities and that all materials and work are to the specifications.
- Record the condition of plant arriving on site in a form with photographs.
Staff Management
- Highlights any deviations or non-compliance that may occur.
- Execute duties in full compliance of safety, training and health requirements.
Culture and Climate
- Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement for the duration of the project.
- Align with client culture requirements as directed by management.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- National Diploma/B Tech in Civil or Mining / Metallurgical / Industrial Engineering.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a mining / tailing’s environment, technical drawings and knowledge of tailings materials
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Solid understanding of the Mining Industry with specific emphasis on Tailings business.
- Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to Tailings business.

Description
- This position exists to provide technical assistance, repair and support to Artisan including the general maintenance boiler making and welding activities, working on steel structures, pipes and other equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
- Ensure conformity to SHEQ standards, policies and procedures.
- Ensure work is performed in a safe manner, following all safety guidelines.
- Perform general housekeeping duties.
Predictive and Preventative Maintenance
- Support the Artisan in participating and executing predictive and preventative maintenance activities.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and upkeep to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair.
- Interpreting drawings and plans.
- Collaborate with others providing helpful assistance to team and client.
- Keep detailed records of work performed including repair details and maintenance schedules.
Inspection and Reporting
- Inspect all equipment/tools and default reports in area of responsibility.
- Report all faults and problems to Artisan.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics (minimum 50%) and Physical Science (minimum 50%), or N3 with Plating and Structural Steel Drawings together with Plater’s Trade Theory.
- Mine Service Man qualification will be advantageous.
- Advanced Mine Rigging certification will be advantageous.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience within the mining industry, including exposure to the engineering environment.
- Knowledge of pipe construction and underground development.
- Experience in cutting, drilling, punching, assembling, and mechanically joining structural steelwork.
- Experience in assembling and mechanically joining sheets, plates, tubes, pipes, and steel sections.
- Experience operating cranes and lifting or moving materials and equipment using a high hub.
