    Peer Educator

    To conduct out-reach activities in the PWID community by providing current accurate health information, mobilisation of PWID’s to access health services, and linkage to care services.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 10 or an equivalent 
    • Peer educators should be ex or current people who have used or injected drugs as they are a ‘peer’ and have therefore experienced the context, and challenges faced by PWID/PWUD
    • Minimum 1 years’ work experience in the PWID Community or experience as a peer educator
    • Service delivery and client focused skills and/or experience
    • Able to provide HTS services and or drive the team to conduct outreach services.
    • Able to read and write legibly in English

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Distribution of harm reduction packs and safer sex commodities
    • Safely collecting used injecting equipment from sharps bins, outreach areas and community
    • Provide accurate health information to PWID/PWUD on harm reduction and safe injecting practices, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, TB, SRH and human rights
    • Link and or refer PWID/PWUD living with HIV or TB for treatment to the mobile nurse/ drop in centre or nearest health facility
    • Ensure HIV negative PWID/PWUD are regularly tested and are encouraged to uptake PrEP as HIV prevention method.
    • Promote psychological support, referral to social services and follow-up
    • Recruit PWID/PWUD for Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) and complete eligibility criteria
    • Identify women who inject drugs and provide dignity packs

    Data Capturer

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum of a Matric Certificate/Grade 12
    • Computer literate in MW Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Minimum 2 years of data capturing experience
    • Experience in data capturing
    • Experience in HIV/AIDS prevention and care and support programming an advantage
    • Experience capturing data on online programmes
    • Fluent in English and isiXhosa

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Check data captured against source documents, and investigate and flag any concerns with data source documents
    • Ensure that all paper based forms are scanned and backed up electronically
    • Ensure that all paper based forms are locked in suitable, safe and accessible storage area
    • Work closely with programme team on continuous data quality and development to ensure effective programme implementation and high quality data collection
    • Contribute to the development of reports and presentations for external engagements
    • Assist with administrative tasks including printing, filing, additional data checks, etc.

    Junior Management Accountant

    Minimum Requirements    

    • BComm (Finance) degree or equivalent
    • 3 years related experience in financial reporting and financial management
    • Knowledge of financial accounting systems
    • Proficiency in Microsoft packages
    • Clear credit and criminal record

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Prepare project specific and organisational budgets/financial reports as and when needed
    • Prepare monthly project specific financial reports in the required templates
    • Facilitates accurate forecasting for projects by working with the financial management team and relevant programme staff
    • Ensuring that organisational policies are considered in all budgeting processes
    • Ensures that budgets, reports, forecasts or presentations are prepared in the required templates and are quality controlled
    • Maintains and builds productive relationships with external stakeholders (funders, government, auditors etc.)
    • Assists the financial management team in:
    • Finalising month end processes (preparing/reviewing of batches, month end journals)
    • Preparing for and executing efficient and compliant audit processes.
    • Monitor and review the validity, accuracy and completeness of the financial accounts

    Psychosocial Counsellor

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12
    • One-year certificate in Counselling from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Two (2) years’ experience and/or training in working with people who use drugs
    • Must be registered with HPCSA
    • Valid code 08 driver’s license
    • Fluent in English and another South African language

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Performs and coordinates comprehensive psychological assessments and counselling of clients at the drop in centre (DIC)
    • Educates clients on Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT), prepares clients for MAT, and supports clients who are accessing/re-accessing MAT
    • Assists with the identification of advocacy issues
    • Educates clients and their families around harm reduction, substance use, dependence and treatment and maintenance modalities
    • Follows up on referrals from the fieldwork team and management team, with regards to psychosocial needs arising in the course of illness or substance use disorders to carry out interventions and provide feedback
    • Reports monthly to line manager on all work related activities
