    Lead Electrical Engineer

    MED Power Plant Solutions is the department accountable for value engineering, contractual risk management, execution & product management on grid connection & plant control solutions in Vestas power plants along the full project value chain (Development, Sales, Construction and Service stages) in Mediterranean Region, including South European, African, Middle Eastern countries.

    Responsibilities

    Grid Connection Codes scouting & interpretations and  communication with System Operators in Southern & Eastern Africa's countries with special focus on South Africa

    • Input Grid related market requirements to Vestas R&D ensuring future compliance and effectiveness of Plant offerings

    Coordinate technical support to Sales Dept. during contract negotiation and bid definition in relation to electrical and grid requirements (both plant grid performances & electrical models) in order to comply with the applicable standards and technical specifications of the customer

    • Participation in team selling approach and building value in each individual project and different customer profiles
    • Technical review of the customers' tender documentation and related risk mitigation on project specific basis
    • Define business case optimization and value engineering initiatives for Grid Plant offerings
    • Contractual Annexes preparation

    Coordinate technical support to the Project Manager during the construction phase in relation to project specific electrical and grid solutions implementation

    • Define the technical implementation of the plant control system allowing the grid compliance of the plants
    • Define Plant Grid Compliance Tests

    Technical meetings with customers, contractors, grid operators & utilities

    Qualificatios

    • M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems
    • 7+ years of relevant work experience from System Operators (like ESKOM or RETEC) or wind industry
    • Knowledge about grid connection code requirements
    • Knowledge about HV, MV equipment and Substation design
    • Knowledge about power system stability, control and analysis
    • Knowledge about Power Quality assessment
    • Knowledge about electrical simulation SW like PSS-E, Power Factory will be valuable. 
    • Knowledge about Energy Market in South Africa.
    • English language, both written and spoken.

    • Good technical skills with emphasis in problem solving.

    Bid Specialist - South Africa

    Bid Management is, within Construction Department, responsible to ensure effective construction bids in alignment with customers' expectations/tenders specifications.

    Reporting to the Regional Bid Manager, the Bid Specialist is an integral part of the Bid Management team that will work in collaboration with Construction team and Vestas functions to ensure alignment between the bids/tenders, the clients' expectations and Vestas targets for all projects/contracts performed in South Africa and in the overall region.

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out Construction bid response and take lead on construction scope in contract negotiation;
    • Assess construction scope and prepare tactical plan through internal project management in Operations with relevant functional areas for proposal engage with customers to optimize construction proposal and provide clarification;
    • Budgeting and planning projects in collaboration with Construction sub departments (Project Management, Planning, Installation, BOP) and with other Vestas functions (Sales, Procurement, Transport, Technology...) ensuring industry standard cost alignment within the project strategy and business constraints;
    • Ensure approved construction budget (OPEC) and project programme to be included with proposal;
    • Maintain overview of major construction risks during sales phase. Implement lessons learned from previous projects;
    • Reporting, analysis and evaluation of post & precalc results to optimize cost and profitability of Vestas projects; 
    • Contract Execution Package (CEP) approval in collaboration with Sales Management and supporting the Regional Head of Construction within the CEP approval process; 
    • Support business improvement initiatives to ensure high quality & value added solutions
    • Development, participation in the development of new construction processes: boosting plans, platform creation etc...in order to find adequate opportunities for Vestas and Vestas' customers.

    Qualifications

    • Technical degree in Engineering, construction, logistics or similar
    • Relevant Project Management related certification (PMP or other similar).
    • Minimum 3 to 5 year experience in Project Management in the energy sector, renewables preferred.
    • Commercial understanding and experience in working with bids and negotiations 
    • Fluent in English and second European language will be ranked (French, Portuguese, Spanish).
    • MS Excel, DDBB, Power BI computer skills

    Senior Project Manager- South Africa

    The Construction Department oversees all wind farm projects from start to completion. The team takes responsibility for a wind farm once a contract has been signed and remains responsible until the final tests are completed. Working closely with the sales, legal, logistics, procurement and finance departments, the construction team must keep the project on budget, on schedule and to ensure our optimal safety and quality standards are met.

    Responsibilities 

    • Reporting to the Head of Construction the main responsibilities are:
    • Full project life cycle ownership

    • Coordinate the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings

     Qualifications

    • Experience in installation and EPC contracts. International experience will be a considered as an asset.

    Site Supervisor Waainek Wind Farm (ZA)

    The position will be based in Waainek Wind Farm (Waainek Wind Farm is located 6 km South West of Grahamstown, along the Highlands Road in the Makana Municipality) within the EC region. The Wind farm consists of 8 X V112 3.0755MW turbines, installed capacity of 24.6MW.

    Responsibilities:

    • Delivery of services on an operational level with respect to process adherence, service quality, safety standards and performance ensured​
    • Assigned staff is supervised/led/coordinated and a positive and effective working relationship is established / maintained​
    • People skills development, competencies and training actions are managed including safety related (Safety walks / talks)​
    • Compliance with Vestas standards across the dedicated site and processes, procedures and / or tools implemented continuously​
    • Ensures obeying regional laws and regulations ​
    • Resource availability given to perform dedicated work orders
    • Daily management of dedicated staff and resolve issues with external service provider, customers and internal stakeholders​

    Qualifications:

    • Post-Matric Engineering qualification (National higher Diploma, National Diploma, Trade Test, BTech or equivalent as a minimum),
    • Minimum 3 years Wind industry work experience

    Competencies:

    • Ability to work independently,
    • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written  English;  additional local language skills are an advantage,
    • Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office software and SAP ERP. 
    • Willingness to travel
