    Sewing Machine Operator

    Job Description

    • Employee will be responsible for sewing torn wool packs and stitching new faces onto old bags so they can be re-used for production in the wool and mohair store.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education & Experience

    • Grade 10 or (Grade 12 will be advantageous).
    • Previous experience as a sewing machine operator or in a similar production/manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
    • Experience working and knowledge of the warehouse or wool/mohair environment will be beneficial.
    • Understanding of the health and safety requirements within the sewing department.
    • Willingness to be able to work overtime when required

    Physical Requirements

    • Able to lift and handle wool packs where required.
    • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Basic knowledge of sewing machine operation and maintenance.
    • Good attention to detail to identify defects and repair requirements.
    • Time management and ability to meet production targets
    • Good hand–eye coordination.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Basic problem-solving skills in a production environment
    • Reliability and punctuality.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Inspect and assess damaged wool packs
    • Repair holes and tears in wool packs
    • Stitch new faces onto reusable bags
    • Ensure stitching meets required quality standards
    • Discard non-reusable wool packs
    • Achieve daily production targets
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
    • Comply with Health & Safety requirements

    Lesotho Relations Officer

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lesotho Relations Officer to manage and strengthen relationships with wool growers, cooperatives, government stakeholders, and international buyers.
    • The successful candidate will play a key role in improving wool quality, supporting market access, and enhancing farmer engagement across the Lesotho wool value chain.
    • This role serves as the key link between rural farming communities and the organisation, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and service delivery.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree : Agribusiness, Communications, Marketing and  Business management, or any related field will be beneficial
    • Relevant experience in stakeholder relations, agribusiness, or rural development (wool environment advantageous)
    • Strong understanding of rural farming systems in Lesotho
    • Be able to communicate in English, Afrikaans and Sotho (written and spoken)
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)

    Working Conditions:

    • Frequent travel to rural areas and maybe later based in Maseru
    • Field-based work in remote communities
    • Flexible working hours aligned to agricultural cycles
    • Occasional regional and international travel

    Competencies:

    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to work independently in rural environments
    • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
    • Strong organisational and coordination skills
    • Understanding of wool value chains and agricultural markets

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build and maintain relationships with wool growers, cooperatives, and stakeholders
    • Support wool market development and buyer engagement (local & international)
    • Coordinate wool logistics, grading, and service delivery processes
    • Facilitate farmer training and development programmes
    • Monitor stakeholder needs and provide regular reporting
    • Represent the organisation at industry events and forums
