    Supervisor

    Description

    We are hiring!

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Supervisor to supervise and ensure that quality plants are produced and despatched according to customer requirements.

     As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

    • To lead and supervise team members including the performance management of staff.
    • Facilitate employee relations, timekeeping and disciplinary matters.
    • Prevent any unsafe behaviour through supervision and awareness.
    • Control stock levels of fertilizer and oversee that plants are watered correctly.
    • Check for pests on all crops and apply appropriate control measures in time.
    • Ensure weeds are controlled timeously before impacting plant growth.
    • Send PQI details and ensure approval is obtained before despatch. 
    • Maintain standards through correct selection and sorting of seedlings.
    • Input PQI data into the Sappi PQI Database. 
    • Weekly report back on despatch and growing sections including safety. 

    What are we looking for?

    • Grade 12 and /or NQF level 4 certificate as a Supervisor
    • At least two year’s experience in a Nursery / Forestry / Manufacturing environment
    • Previous Supervisory experience is essential
    • Basic computer skills is essential

    Broke Handler

    Description

    We are hiring!

    • We’re on the lookout for Broke Handler to assist the Dry End Operator in running the day-to-day operations of the Dry End of the Paper Machine and remove broke from the paper section and put it into the pulper so that pulp levels are maintained to an optimum rate on a continuous basis.

    As Broke Handler, you will be responsible for:

    • Maintaining a high standard of safety and housekeeping
    • Assisting the Dry End Operator with reel changeovers
    • Assisting with tail feed from the press section
    • Collecting and removing broke from within the section and puts into the pulper
    • Relieving in positions trained for within the paper section
    • Carrying out any other duties / tasks as requested by the supervisor from time to time
    • Identifying and taking corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards
    • Adhering to environmental policy and procedures including: reducing waste and preventing spills

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
    • Full N1 Pulp & Paper or equivalent
    • 1 years’ experience in a Pulp and Paper manufacturing environment
    • Crane licence is preferred

    Materials Manager

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Materials Manager to manage the engineering stores cost-effectively to ensure the availability and reliability of spares in line with mill objectives.

    As a Materials Manager, you will be responsible for: 

    • Manage the maintenance, repair, and operating supplies, service requirements, and store resources
    • Review, develop, and implement all relevant procedures, policies, and work instructions, monitoring and ensuring compliance
    • Review the resource requirements and responsibilities continuously to maximise the efficiency of the team
    • Develop, implement, and maintain the engineering spares stock maintenance according to the required standards
    • Determine, manage, and report on the material management operational fixed cost budget
    • Identify and dispose of redundant materials as per the mill's policies and procedures
    • Implement an effective rotable material and equipment management system
    • Monitor the issuing and receiving of spares as well as repairs of rotable material and equipment
    • Manage the stores' facilities, structures, and assets, ensuring continuous operations are completed safely and comply with legal requirements
    • Monitor and control the completion and receipt of quality control documentation for all rotable material and equipment as per mill procedures

    What are we looking for?

    • NQF level 6 qualification in a related or Engineering field
    • A trade test in an Engineering discipline 
    • 10 years of relevant engineering experience within heavy industry, with working knowledge of SAP (MM)
    • Proven supervisory experience will be considered advantageous

    Temp Reliever (Energy)

    • We’re on the lookout for Temp Reliever (Energy) to assist production in reducing overtime by providing leave/training relief.

    As a Temp Reliever (Energy) you will be responsible for:

    • Take and hand over shift, ensuring smooth operational continuity.
    • Operate process equipment in line with best operating practices and safety standards.
    • Complete section-specific interventions and initiatives as planned.
    • Relieve operators and perform all prescribed duties for designated positions.
    • Assist the Foreman and operating staff during breakdowns and supervision when required.
    • Record and report all incidents, breakdowns, and equipment faults accurately.
    • Participate in shift activities, housekeeping, SHEQ compliance, and BBS observations.
    • Support employee development by sharing knowledge and enabling skills transfer within the section.

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric (Grade 12) with maths & Physics or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
    • A National Diploma in Pulp and Paper or Chemical Engineering will be advantageous.  
    • Minimum of 3 month’s relevant experience as a Process Trainee/ Production Intern within a production or pulp and paper environment.

    Process Technician

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Process Technician to monitor day to day production process.

    As a Process Technician, you will be responsible for: 

    • Maintain process standards documentation based on the direction received from Process Engineers. Support teams in the plan to understand the process requirements and the impacts of their actions
    • Ensure that the start-up, shut-down, Best Operating Practices, and operating manuals are up to date for the plant or section. Support Foremen and Shift Superintendents with their process of continuously upskilling their teams by providing documents for toolbox talks and other team briefings
    • Review high-level designs produced by Process Engineers and provide input on the practicality of the designs and add insight into the reality of the day-to-day production environment. Gather input from Production staff if required. Contribute to detailed designs on request from Process Engineers
    • Conduct basic root cause analysis by participating in multi-disciplinary teams. Review recurring alarms, conduct basic investigations, and develop recommendations for Controllers and Superintendents to implement
    • Highlight day-to-day existing controls that are not working as intended as part of process engineering activities on request
    • Monitor day-to-day adherence to environmental standards for the section and resolve basic issues with the Production teams. Escalate all significant issues to the Process Engineer
    • Obtain an understanding of the new processes in order to participate in the simulations or live testing. Provide feedback to Process Engineers based on the parameters they require
    • Participate in commissioning (cold, hot, and live) based on tasks assigned by the Process Engineer. Obtain a complete understanding of the new process as a super user

    What are we looking for?

    • BTech Chemical Engineering / BEng Tech Chemical Engineering/ National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Processing
    • 3-5 years of process experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience with SAP, BrainCube, and PI data systems would be advantageous
