    Operator : Process (Copeland)

    As an Operator : Process (Copeland), you will be responsible to:

    • Takes and hand over shift
    • Takes samples /analyzes and reports on sample results
    • Completes Isolation permits safely as and when requested
    • Prepares the Sodium Sulphite, Evaporators, Reactor and Outside Plants for start up or shut down as per requirements
    • Conducts regular plant inspections to ensure all equipment is in a safe working condition
    • Safely Starts the Sodium Sulphite, Evaporators, Reactor and Outside Plants to prepare in spec Cooking liquor for the NSSC digester
    • Safely Shuts down the Sodium Sulphite, Evaporators, Reactor and Outside Plants, when instructed by the Foremen or in emergency conditions and report any deviations to the Foremen
    • Monitors, Control plants and production parameters and reports on any plant or quality defects e.g. (equipment defects or high and low GPL’s)
    • Monitor and report on low Flows and Levels. (cooking liquor, WRL, sumps)
    • Monitor and make process adjustment from interpreting  trends on DCS
    • Monitors the offloading of Molten Sulphur into the molten sulphur tank
    • Monitors the offloading of Soda Ash into the Soda Ash Silo’s
    • Starts and Stops the Sulphur Burner and the Waste Heat Boiler as and when required
    • Starts and Stops the Centrifuge, Flash dryer and Screw conveyors as when required
    • Safely operates the Flash dryer and bulk bagging machine to produce powdered sodium sulphite
    • Assist with clearing sulphite and sulphur blockages in lines, pumps, tanks etc
    • Monitoring sump levels in order to prevent effluent spillages
    • Follow all reasonable instruction given by Foreman
    • Completes plant checklist and create SAP notifications for all defects
    • Reports on all defects and equipment malfunctions to Pulp Foreman and Eng. Personnel
    • Regularly Inspects equipment for preventative maintenances purposes
    • Ensures the recovery of SLS returned product
    • Comply with all relevant SHEQ requirements of the job
    • Identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards
    • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times
    • Generate spill reports if and when required
    • Closely monitors the Sodium sulphite plant for SO2 gas release. On instruction from the foreman, must activate the SO2 siren and ensure people have been evacuated from the Sodium Sulphite Plant
    • Plant operated efficiently according to set standards

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric and/or N3 Pulp and Paper (4 subjects) and/or NQF Level 4 Qualification
    • Minimum 2 years’ Plant Operations Experience
    • Computer Literacy (SAP & MS Office)

    Forester - Mooiplaas

    As a Forester, you will be responsible for:

    • Prepare land & re-establish according to Planning’s recommendations for re-establishment (planting & coppice regeneration) to achieve Temporary Unplanted targets within budget constraints.
    • Manage the re-establishment to achieve maximum stocking within silvicultural standards.
    • Inspect operations regularly (at least weekly) to identify risks & ensure the timeous action (blanking & pest control, coppice management).
    • Ensure all operations comply with service level agreement.
    • Protect crops from weed competition, pests and diseases by regular field inspections & the timing of operations to achieve maximum yields within cost constraints.
    • Develop a pre-harvest plan and conduct a risk assessment per compartment in order to mitigate potential risks.
    • Conduct interim inspections to monitor and ensure adherence to safety and Mill quality specifications.
    • Ensure daily production targets are managed effectively and comply with legislative and company policies & procedures.
    • Identify and ensure road & depot/sidings maintenance plans are communicated and implemented effectively.
    • Use Fire Risk Management System (FRMS) to identify risks, record & implement fire control procedures.
    • Implement the Annual Plan of Operations for both commercial and open areas, and ensure operations comply with standards and service level agreements.
    • Ensure that company assets such as buildings, villages and company houses are maintained & managed effectively according to set standards within budget constraints.
    • Ensure that the vehicle fleet is maintained & managed according to the lease agreement, Sappi guidelines & budget. Ensure that relations with communities, other internal and external stakeholders are effectively maintained and managed in order to ensure company image is upheld, risks mitigated and relationships enhanced.
    • Ensure that a professional relationship with the contractor is maintained and that quality, delivery and compliance standards as set out in the job instruction system and service level agreement are adhered to.
    • Ensure that contractor shifts are balanced to match the annual plan of operations, the contract is viable, and risks mitigated accordingly.

    What are we looking for?

    • National Diploma in Forestry, Agriculture, Horticulture
    • Up to one-year of relevant experience.
    • Valid code 08 driver’s License

    Payroll Administrator - Umhlanga

    As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible to:

    • Perform payroll administrative tasks related to workflows, leave quotas, benefit management, allowances, and other salary related actions
    • Maintain clerical and administrative processes and systems in payroll
    • Identify payroll related errors and propose corrective action
    • Maintain sound payroll governance and ensure standard operating procedures are in place and up to date

    Superintendent : Mechanical (Recovery) - Umkomaas

    As a Superintendent: Mechanical (Recovery), you will be responsible for:

    • Assess equipment, material, and labour required to complete large and/or complex maintenance tasks
    • Ensure maintenance activities meet set standards and resolve defined issues while reducing wasted resources
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and maintain services and/or programs
    • Coordinate the services and activities of outside contractors to ensure work is completed in a safe, effective, and timely manner and meets Mill’s standards and objectives

    • NQF4 qualification with a relevant Trade Test Certificate

    Senior Environmental Technician

    As a Senior Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for:

    Environmental Management System, Policies, and Procedures

    • Monitor adherence to the environmental management system.
    • Implement and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 accredited systems.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety and Environmental requirements.

    Reporting

    • Compile and present environmental reports for management review.

    • Investigate incidents (root cause analysis) and ensure closure.
    • Maintain the environmental risk profile of the mill.
    • Conduct risk assessments and provide input for incident investigations.
    • Capture deviations and provide solutions.

    Operational

    • Assist with environmental management during shutdowns and projects.
    • Act as Environmental Specialist when required.
    • Analyze data and samples for projects aimed at reducing waste, water/effluent, air emissions, and energy.

    What are we looking for:

    • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Environmental Management or Chemical Engineering.
    • 3- 5 years of experience in Environmental Management and compliance implementation within manufacturing industry.
    • Experience in Environmental Legislation and Licencing processes.

    Process Engineer - Mill Stanger

    As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    • Processing development and optimisation.
    • Managing projects from inception to implementation including commissioning of new equipment.
    • Updating, publish and communicate process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, functional design specifications and mass and energy balances.
    • Updating product specifications for the area and communicate to plant personnel.
    • Reviewing start-up and shut down procedures, best operating practices, and training manuals.
    • High level trouble shooting.
    • Root cause failure analysising and close outs.
    • Developing high level process designs. 
    • Carrying out and participate in feasibility studies.

    What are we looking for?

    • BSc Chemical Engineering Degree.
    • At least 5 years’ experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing / heavy industry environment.
    • Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry would be an advantage.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer is an added advantage.
    • SAP experience preferred.

    Operator: Crane Vari-Roll

    As Operator : Crane Vari-Roll, you will be responsible for:

    • Loading and unloading VR winder with jumbos and spools using overhead crane
    • Collecting and removing all loose broke from winder to pulper.
    • Operating the Sledge Conveyor – Paper Machine to Vari Roll
    • Assisting with production shut down and start up at Paper Machine as well as Winder
    • Operating the Trim Vac Pulper and the Fin Pulper when required
    • Assisting at Wet Strength Plant and weighing parent reels on request from Supervisor
    • Acting as Vari Roll Winder Assistant and Tally Clerk when required
    • Carrying out reasonable tasks and instructions given by Supervisor
    • Understanding & complying with all SHEQ requirements of the job and carrying out BBS Observations

    What are we looking for?

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • N1 or NCV Level 2 Pulp and Paper
    • 2 – 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment (Pulp and Paper preferred)
    • Crane license
    • Crane driving experience with moving of jumbo reels

    Assistant: Warehouse

    As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for:

    • Preparing wrapping material and wraps reels to standard specifications
    • Labelling reels and ensures correct tonnages are processed
    • Ensuring plugs, bungs and side discs are used as required
    • Reporting any shortage of wrapping material and accessories to Tally Clerk
    • Carrying out duties of Tally Clerk during his/her absence
    • Assisting on Winder when required
