VAT Compliance Manager at PwC

• Work on PwC’s national and global VAT compliance clients
• Complete client VAT returns accurately, within budget and on time
• Manage a portfolio of clients
• Manage a team of approximately 5 employees
• Register and de-register clients for VAT with SARS
• Correspond with SARS on various client matters
• Change of client details with SARS
• Update client eFiling details
• Reconcile client SARS VAT statement of accounts
• Manage WIP and debtors and budgeting of assignment
• Assist with proposals to win new client work
• Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients
• Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen
• Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges
• Assist in the management and delivering of large projects
• Train, coach, and supervise staff
• Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
• Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

Essential skills and experience

• Excellent knowledge of SARS VAT compliance regulations, procedures and policies
• Supervisory experience
• Good understanding and knowledge of VAT tax laws
• Good business acumen
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Computer literate – advanced MS Excel skills
• Previous experience with Google G-Suite will be advantageous

Minimum years experience required

• At least 3-5 years solid verifiable experience with VAT compliance

Required qualifications:

• BCom (Accounting 3, Auditing 3, Tax 3)
• BCom Honours will be advantageous
• Higher diploma in Tax with be advantageous
