Job Description

Pioneer Foods seek a suitably qualified Manager Unit I at their Pioneer Foods, Groceries, Safari Nuts in Pietermaritzburg. The successful candidate will be required to work in an environement where there is daily exposure to ground and tree nuts. In addition to the co-ordination of all the activities within the various departments i.e. production, engineering, quality control and stores,s/he will also be accountable for meeting prouduction targets strictly aligned to quality standards. The Unit manager will ensure the efficient use of manpower, equipment and materials and in so doing optimise manufacturing. The role requires strong people management experience, a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a minimum of 10 years manufacturing exprience with at least 4 years having been at management level. Experience in the frying and roasting of nuts (ground and tree nuts) will be advantageous.

SPECIFIC OUTPUTS:

• Optimising the use of raw materials and plant performance.
• Ensuring short and long term sales demand are met through efficient production scheduling and execution.
• Esuring product quality and plant safety standards are maintained.
• People management and development.
• Operations budget management and ensuring SAP routines are followed diligently.
• Managing and overseeing capital projects and driving continious improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

• 10 years Manufacturing experience
• 4 years Managerial experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Computer skills including SAP, MM, SD, MS Office, etc.
• People Management skills
• Sound understanding and application of managing working capital budgets and projects.
