    Essential skills and experience

    • Minimum of 2 to 4 years PQE.
    • Corporate commercial experience (M&A experience will be an advantageous).
    • Strong drafting and research skills.
    • Strong knowledge of the various company and business laws
    • Ability to provide solutions to business problems – analytical skills.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Liaising with clients and colleagues to provide legal services. Producing high level legal opinions that add value to clients business. Managing a range of legal assignments reporting to Managers/ Partners.
    • Expand professional network internally and externally.
    • Management of billings, debtors and assignment budgeting. Compliance with risk management procedures.

About the role The primary focus will be to provide an array of tax consulting, tax accounting and tax compliance services to a range of clients with specific focus on the mining sector.

    Essential skills and experience

    • Good understanding and knowledge of income tax laws (South African and International)
    • People management skills including coaching Required qualifications
    • Relevant professional qualification (CA/Accounting degree and or Postgraduate studies in Tax)
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in corporate tax in a consulting environment (exposure to mining clients is a prerequisite)

    • Excellent time management skills Responsibilities
    • Managing a portfolio of clients, with responsibilities which will include: o Day to day management and acting as main point of contact with clients. 
    • Addressing client requests for assistance on a timely basis, and consulting with the assignment partner where required. Researching and drafting advice on tax issues faced by our clients.
    • Tax accounting assignments as well as the audit of tax. o Tax compliance including dispute resolution.
    • Planning the assignment approach, including understanding client expectations, effectively scoping work and anticipating client demands.
    • Identifying areas of contention and discussing these with the engagement team/client.
    • Overall monitoring of progress of assignments against budget, with the aim of alerting the client of potential out of scope work and negotiating fees with clients. o Ensuring deadlines are met and quality work is delivered.
    • Identifying business issues where PwC can provide value add solutions.
    • Financial portfolio management including, WIP management, billing and cash collection.
    • Management of junior staff members, including their performance, coaching and development.
    • Compliance with risk management procedures.
      Involvement in industry specific initiatives, with responsibilities which will include: o Contributing to and/or assists in leading internal training sessions.
    • Business development work.
    • Proactively becoming involved in networking opportunities as identified by the firm / industry sector leaders. o Interaction with regulatory bodies such as SARS 
    • Contributing to mining industry related initiatives, including writing articles and commenting on proposed law amendments.
