    Commercial Project Manager (Power Generation / Petrochemical / Contracts / Engineer / Project Manager / FIDIC / NEC)

    Job Description:

    To manage multifaceted projects and streamlining processes, reducing costs, improving profits and driving value to customers. To manage projects in a diverse range of industries such as Power Generation, Petrochemical, Mineral Processing and Heavy Engineering. To work closely with Engineering and Commercial departments to communicate and address all projects specific requirements.
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Receive tenders and proposals and assess feasibility of project in relation to technical, financial and organization resources of the Company
    • Set-up and coordination of the Project Team and contract documentation
    • Maintain on-site relations with the client to ensure continuity and repeat orders on a negotiated basis. Discuss further proposals with the client and possible future projects and partnerships where feasible
    • Conduct, develop and implement plans of action to meet client’s needs.  Exploring the client relationship and developing a partnership as to meet client’s needs but keep Company out of risk and in a profitable position
    • Set up contractual documents for approval in accordance with procedures and authority of responsibility. Establish guidelines for the handling of variations by setting up procedures and producing contractual documents for any variations
    • Ensure detailed reports are produced as per the Company requirements with emphasis on factual and timely information for presentation during project reviews
    • Ensure that all information is available to planners and detailed plans are drawn up
    • Monitor and control sub-contractors, consultants and vendors by holding updated meetings regularly and monitoring progress and consult on any changes

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • BSC or B Eng qualification in Mechanical engineering is a prerequisite; BTech candidates with 10 years cumulative experience in the contracting industry within petrochemical environment will be considered
    • Project Management qualification and professional registration will be advantageous
    • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience as an Engineer specifically within petrochemical and/or power generation
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years as a Project Manager within Petrochemical Contracting environment
    • Must have previous working experience with NEC and/or FIDIC contracts
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

    • Computer literate in MS Office.

    A leading Mining company in South Africa is looking to hire a Rock Mechanic/ Strata Control Officer. The position will be responsible for the identification of ground conditions with appropriate support recommendation and ensuring compliance to specification for ground control strategies. 
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Identification of areas requiring extra support installed and in the calibration of numerical and empirical modeling
    • Ensuring all SHEQ standards are Adhered to
    • Quality control of the installed support system, including analyzing of all information acquired during pull-resting of roof bolts, grouting and tensioning of anchors, shotcrete thickness measurements and quality of spraying
    • Shotcrete quality checks from Batch Plant
    • Trailing new product available in the market with potential for maximum performance at reduced cost.
    • Ensuring that all Headings scheduled for Support rehabilitation are actioned  to relevant personnel and planned for completions
    • Carrying out quality control checks of the rehabilitation

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • BSC in Engineering/ Geology or Mining Engineering
    • Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certificate
    • 3 years’ experience in hard rock, underground mining
    • Chamber of Mines Rock Mechanics certificate advantageous
    • Advanced computer literacy, including Geotechnical software packages

    Job Description:

    The Shaft Rock Engineer is accountable for the implementation and coordination of rock engineering interventions and processes as well as the application of systems and processes aligned to best practices to optimise safe extraction through advice and support. This position reports directly in to the Rock Engineer Manager.

    • Ensure effective Rock Engineering service delivery and support to Mining and Mining Engineering: Effectively monitor and control rock engineering activities
    • Ensure adherence to organisational best practice and legislative requirements: Guide and develop practices in line with strata control practices, principles, standardisation requirements and operating standards
    • Actively participate in creating a safe mining environment: Provide input into the development of safety standards, processes, policies and procedures
    • Maintain effective stakeholder relationships: Build effective relationships through mutual respect and two way communication
    • People Management: Ensure team members have an Individual Performance Agreement and Development Plan in place and that it is updated timeously
    • Continuous  improvement  of  the  Rock  Engineering  function: Review  and  analyse  the  effectiveness  of  operational rock engineering interventions, systems and processes and conduct regular trend analysis and fault finding

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) or NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma) mining related qualification will be advantageous
    • At least 3 - 5 years’ experience within a metalliferous mining environment, of which between 1 - 3 year should   have been in a supervisory
    • Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency advantageous
    • Chamber of Mines’ Rock Mechanics Certificate
