    New Business Development Consultant

    Job description

    We sell on a prestigious magazine in the smart energy field – Smart Energy and Metering International. We sell on a multi-channel platform which is both for print, digital, on-line, webinars, HTML mailers and a variety of other options for our clients. We have been publishing this product for 19 years.

    Key requirements:

    • Excellent track record of sales performance, particularly face to face, including objection handling, negotiation, relationship building, problem solving.
    • Experience within media sales; conferences or exhibitions preferred.

    Responsibilities:

    • Selling to existing and potential clients to meet and exceed sales revenue targets.
    • Selling advertising space over the phone and face to face, within our print and digital publications.
    • Build relationships and contacts with new accounts to create new revenue opportunities from untapped markets.
    • Following up marketing-led campaigns via telephone and email.
    • Keeping abreast of market developments and identifying and researching new growth areas for sales.
    • Ensuring that all sales administration is completed to a high standard including letter writing, keeping database up-to-date etc.
    • Liaising with marketing and production teams ensuring they are kept up-to-date with client specifications.
    • Attend competitive events and industry trade shows for business development.
    • Face to face networking and business development.
    • Build relationships with your client and execute successful rebooking campaigns.
    • Be able to develop and deliver accurate sales updates via weekly sales meetings and within project meetings.
    • Liaising with the finance department to assist credit control.

    Competencies:

    • Confidence in conversing with VP and C-level prospects at peer-to-peer level.
    • Demonstration of excellent market and product knowledge.
    • Enthusiasm, commitment to the role, and pro-activity.
    • Outstanding communication skills – especially listening and conversation skills.
    • Outstanding telephone etiquette.
    • The ability to understand business issues and spot opportunities.
    • Effective organization and time management.
    • The ability to work both independently and as a team player.
    • A hunger to reach and exceed targets.
    • A tenacious “can do” approach
    • Assertiveness and confidence

    We pay a salary in excess of 15k per month and a commission which will give you a realistic OTE of R30k plus per month. There is no cap; it is up to you and your ability and effort.
