    Senior Projects Manager

    Job description

    Job Summary Statement Aveng Grinaker-LTA is a multi-disciplinary construction group, anchored in South Africa and focused on selected infrastructure, energy and mining opportunities in Africa.

    The incumbent will be responsible to manage the execution of the required work within the project schedules and contractual agreements, ensuring technical excellence and effective coordination of the respective staff within the project team. Plan, direct, coordinate, and budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the detail engineering, procurement and eventual oversight of execution teams and subcontractors for various types of water treatment plants. Participate in the conceptual development of the engineering and construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.

    Minimum Requirements ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Relevant Tertiary qualification e.g. BSc Mechanical Engineering;
    • Post graduate Project Management qualifications or equivalent would be an advantage

    Experience

    • 5-10 Years relevant experience (other jobs that prepared you for this job)

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Plan, organise, communicate and monitor the progress of the company’s portfolio of current projects all the way through the value chain from tendering through to project closeout
    • Detail involvement and overall ownership of tender productivity norms, team structures and project execution plans
    • Take lead in project resources acquisition and management thereof
    • Monitor the project progress, ensure early intervention where deviations are noted and report any deviations to the Aveng Water Manco
    • Ensure that required production requirements and standards are communicated to all employees
    • Organise resources (staff, equipment and materials) to ensure that tasks are completed as planned
    • Plan work to ensure that tasks are completed on time, within budget and according to required standard
    • Manage internal interface with Engineering and Process Design departments at all times, ensure objectives are well communicated and monitored
    • Ensure adherence to SHEQ policies, procedures and standards by being proactive in the implementation of the appropriate procedures
    • Report any non-conformances of hazardous conditions to relevant stakeholders
    • Establish and build good client relationships
    • Develop and build a sound working relationship with the client
    • Be proactive in managing client relationships
    • Communicate all business and policy changes
    • Play a key role in all people management processes by ensuring skills training and development of employees
    • Motivate employees and create pride with regards to their work
    • Conduct performance management of subordinates and contractors
    • Ensure career development of subordinates to their full potential
    • Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met by keeping accurate record of construction execution statistics, ensuring accuracy of information reported to stakeholders, and manage day to day administration and ensure that set due dates are adhered to
    • Responsible for the management of the operational costs and ensure adherence to the prescribed budget
    • Develop and manage project budget
    • Identify, suggest and implement cost saving initiatives
    • Ensure reputable and cost effective suppliers and sub-contractors
    • Manage costs expenditure to ensure effective use of funds
