    Strategist

    Job description

    The essence of consulting is to help a client obtain information and advice which leads to a real and lasting solution of a problem.
    Within this context, the strategist, shall exercise all reasonable skill, care and diligence in rendering the consultancy services in terms of the employment contract and shall, to the satisfaction of Yellowwood, deliver on the following general consulting and management requirements by providing an objective analysis, compelling strategic narratives, marketing expertise and specialist skills.

    Areas of Responsibility
    Project Leadership and participation

    • Head projects where allocated the role of Project Lead, under the direction and guidance of the Principal Consultant
    • Head the project team when acting as Project Lead
    • Participate as a member of the team on larger, more complex projects under the direction of the Project Lead
    • Agree a course of action with the client when acting as Project Lead

    Lead Strategy and Insights (where applicable)

    • Develop Project proposals – approach, methodology and costing
    • Conduct robust analysis to identify and investigate strategic issues and opportunities
    • Formulate and define strategy and recommendations for action, taking into account broader managerial and business implications strategy on projects
    • Plan, coordinate and participate in various marketing research activities as required by the client specification.
    • Interview relevant persons as required by the project
    • Conduct secondary research, including external sources, publications and the internet
    • Manage the relationship and communicate with key stakeholders within the project

    Project Management

    • Perform general project administration as required and complete project documentation and filing for all stages of the project
    • Attend status meetings and client meetings as defined in the project plan
    • Manage key milestones
    • Manage the financials of the project
    • Communicate and manage issues and risks during the project both within Yellowwood and the client

    Support company reputation development

    • Contribute to Yellowwood marketing, PR and social media

    Business Development

    • Deliver the project in a professional manner, within the time agreed and to the client’s satisfaction
    • Support in Business Development predominantly through growing existing clients billings (on selling projects)

    Pursuit of best practice

    • Follow global best practice in Marketing Strategy

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
    • 4-8 years work experience (marketing, brand development or strategy background important)

    • Leadership and communication skills vital to role
    • Self motivated and self management important
    • Strong analytical and strategic capability
    • Thought leadership ability

    Required Technical Skills

    • PowerPoint proficiency is critical
    • Strong capability with analytical tools (excel proficiency is advantageous)
    • Assimilate and distill high volumes of information
