    Senior Professional Officer

    Job description

    Requirements:

    •  A relevant Bachelor’s degree /B-Tech degree in Engineering or related field
    •  5 – 6 years’ experience in technical training environment working with apprentices, engineering graduate interns and/or learnerships
    •  Knowledge of SETAs, SAQA, NAMB, ECSA processes  Registered as an Assessor and Moderator
    •  Registration as Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) will be an added advantage
    •  A valid Code B driver’s licence.

    Key performance areas:

    •  Develop and implement short and long term plans for the technical training aspects of the broader water and sanitation department training and development needs
    •  Oversee the recruitment and selection of prospective learners, apprentices and interns
    •  Identify skills gap and monitor training interventions
    •  Design learning material in line with NQF/SAQA requirements
    •  Conduct RPL assessments in accordance with SETA and NAMB (QTCO) requirements
    •  Manage the department’s graduate internship programme in line with ECSA requirements
    •  Implement and monitor the water and wastewater RPL processes
    •  Ensure adherence to financial controls/ procedures and provide information to support the technical training centre
    •  Maintain all legislative procedures associated with technical training
    •  Update and maintain the technical training aspects of the work place skills plan
    •  Prepare technical training reports based on directives/decisions taken at management meetings and training interventions and/or WSP
    •  Maintain and update training materials and manuals.
