THIS ROLE WILL BE BASED IN NEW YORK, UNITED STATES BUT HEADQUARTERED OUT OF JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

• The role requires an experienced and seasoned Director-level Banker with a track-record in coordinating and managing a business with multiple stakeholders across geographical and functional lines in pursuit of business success for the benefit of the ultimate employing entity, Barclays Africa Group Limited (BAGL).
• The key purpose of the role is to lead pro-active, strategic relationship management for a portfolio of U.S. clients in order to grow the corporate banking business conducted across Africa for BAGL. The jobholder will be responsible for building relationships with senior executives at U.S. clients and to lead coverage for such clients across Africa, in close coordination with Country Regional Directors across BAGL presence countries.
• In addition the jobholder will be expected to lead and drive the development and strategic execution of opportunities in the US-Africa corridor, which entails maximising the revenue opportunity, coordinating strategic planning and interlocking closely with various BAGL stakeholders including teams in credit, portfolio and product (primarily includes cash management, liquidity, trade finance, debt, FX and card issuing and acquiring).

• The role includes working closely with and supporting the Country Regional Directors across BAGL presence countries, leading the effort to ensure that right products are sold to clients, significant mandates are executed well, proactively keeping the client relationship healthy and maximising value through current and new business within acceptable risk levels.
• Over time, it is the intention that this role progresses with increased responsibility such that other regional bankers working for BAGL that may be located in New York (e.g. GDO banker), report into this role.

• Support to the Head Africa Corridors
• Leads regional client coordination and assistance on relationships
• Supports Country RDs through unlocking parent relationships and HQ connectivity to enable STP achievement across BAGL presence countries
• Delivery of credit coordination and execution, working closely with GC Africa regional credit team based in Johannesburg
• Leads coordination of pan-Africa pipeline opportunities and execution of RFPs for the corridor.
