    Event Marketing Manager

    Job Description
    Position Overview

    Momentum Retail is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Event Marketing Manager to take our marketing events strategy to the next level. Reporting to the Head: Marketing Operations, the Event Marketing Manager will be a team player that coordinates, promotes, executes and measures results for our events, including seminars, conferences, roadshows, product launches and incentive trips.

    Candidates must be passionate about event marketing, a self-starter and have strong interpersonal, project management, and analytical skills.

    Business Unit: Retail Marketing

    Responsibilities

    • Implement event strategy inclusive of seminars, sponsored events, conferences, roadshows, product launches and incentive trips that support Momentum achieving sales, profitability and market share goals.
    • Day-to-day management of team of event planners with varying levels of skills and experience. This includes fostering an empowering and autonomous environment for events team members to take ownership.
    • Plan and execute a calendar of independently managed events in addition to team management responsibilities.
    • Rigorous management of event budgets and expense forecasting to ensure all events are executed within assigned budgets.
    • Ongoing status reviews and post-event assessment with key stakeholders to ensure market leading events.
    • Secure agencies, production companies, destination management companies and other outsourced vendors, as needed.
    • Coordinate event activities including logistics, timelines and communications.
    • Provide "single-point accountability" at the event managing, coordinating and collaborating with outside vendors, general contractors, Momentum team members to ensure event execution delivers within set budget, timeline and stated goals.
    • Provide logistical expertise and production management.
    • Communicate and follow up with conference speakers and suppliers to ensure all deliverables are received before the set deadline.
    • Responsible for ensuring all events are aligned with Momentum brand guidelines.
    • Analyze effectiveness of each key event component for implementing changes and recommended improvements as needed.
    • Educate Sales and Marketing teams as needed on event objectives, expected behaviours and operating process.
    • Deliver exceptional customer care before, during and after the event.
    • Manage your continuing education to stay current on event industry trends and policies.

    Job Requirements

    • Proven experience as event manager.
    • Proven negotiating skills with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Skilled in project management.

    • Proven ability to think strategically and execute methodically.

    • Experience with managing and compiling a budget.
    • Ability to travel domestically & internationally to events, site inspections, pre-con meetings, etc. Some weekend work may be required.
    • Flexibility and willingness to assist colleagues with projects and tasks outside of job requirements.
    • Ability to problem solve and work independently in a changing and multi-tasking environment with numerous deadlines.
    • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Proven experience executing in high-energy, high-change culture.
    • Move easily between generating big, creative ideas and driving on-going process improvement.
    • Outstanding team player and relationship builder.
    • Onsite management of meeting/events; must be capable of making on the spot, sound decisions for which there are no written procedures.
    • Conceptual, high-performing individual with tremendous passion for the events/meeting planning industry including the ability to identify trends, provide fresh ideas, take risk & challenge the status quo.
    • Proven ability to accurately plan, forecast and manage budgets, as well as act in the best interest of the business.
    • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong emphasis on thoroughness and accuracy.
    • Create vision with ability to articulate and direct creative development to in-house creative team and/or external agencies/vendors.
    • Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude to succeed; manage by example to inspire/motivate others to perform to the best of their capabilities.

    Experience:

    • More than 10 years strategic event management experience within a corporate or agency environment with wide-ranging event planning/management.
    • More than 5 years management experience leading a high-performing team comprised of individuals with varied levels of experience and expertise. This includes building a collaborative team culture, fostering and empowering an autonomous environment for team members to feel supported.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

    Education:

    • Minimum: University degree or diploma in business, marketing, or related field.
    • Preferable: BSc/BA in PR, marketing, hospitality management or related field.
