Key Responsibility Areas:

• To ensure that the services provided are technically correct, economically justifiable and meets eThekwini Municipality’s capital works programme requirements .
• Undertake the complex design for the provision of wastewater reticulation, collector  and trunk mains, pump stations, rising mains and all ancillary works to best practice principals.
• Undertake comparative evaluation of various complex design possibilities.
• Audit of tender documentation submitted by consultants developers and staff for compliance with the Municipality’s legal and contractual requirements.
• To assist the executive in its submission to the council for inclusion in the council’s capital works programme and to monitor and control project expenditure.
• Formulation of annual budget by project identification and prioritization.
• To ensure optimum utilization and development of the available manpower.
• Monitoring and training, coaching and mentoring of design and other technical staff.
• To ensure an effective overall service and dissemination of information to the    customer.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Civil Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 6 years relevant experience of which 5 years must be post registration experience, including 3 years in non-revenue water.
• Computer Literacy.
