Internet Solutions is now also able to provide specific infrastructure facilities to customers, having received a full Electronic Communications Network Service (ECNS) license in 2009.

We are currently looking for a Senior Network Engineer (Cape Town – Parow based) to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives.

What we expect you to do

• Troubleshoot high-level problems
• Provide support for all network and system related problems.
• Analyse problems, research solutions, implement, test and manage (re)solutions
• Work in close collaboration with networks, systems teams and other divisions.
• Communicate technical solutions and implementation processes
• Document hardware and software problems and resolutions
• Install network components and solutions
• Identify and interpret customer requirements in relation to the data presented and current network configuration
• Plan, install, configure, and test network/system hardware, peripherals, operating and application software and software upgrades
• Document network and system installation, configuration procedures, and current configuration
• Operational improvements
• Monitor and analyse network performance.
• Optimize strategic and operational implementations.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance measurement, tools and systems.

Here's what we are looking for in candidates for this job:

Skills and competencies

Knowledge of:

• Knowledge and experience in the implementation and management of campus, wide area networks and network related solutions.
• Working experience with Network management systems, including graphic, traffic analysis, monitoring and the SNMP protocol in general.
• Experience with the various internet access technologies including dial, ADSL and wireless.
• Proper configuration control, records maintenance and storage for local and distributed environments.

Ability to:

• Planning and maintaining networks and implementing designed solutions.
• Provide technical support to users.
• Communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical terms to customers and other staff.
• Read, interpret and apply technical data processing manuals and related documents.
• Prepare clear and concise written communications and make oral presentations.
• Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes in technology.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all those contacted during the course of work.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum CCNP or equivalent.
• 2+ Years in the Networking Industry with in-depth Cisco and engineering experience in an enterprise-based organization.
• The successful candidate will have experience in most if not all of the following enterprise level technologies:
• Ability to identify and analyze a requirement requirements and design/implement the best solution.
• Excellent networking skills – Cisco based (LAN, WAN, bandwidth management, NAT, access control lists, traffic policies, routing etc)
• Network management and monitoring, including applications like MRTG, Netflow.
• Documentation
• Investigating and troubleshooting complex problems.
• Excellent understanding of Internet related technologies such as mail, web, DNS, P2P etc.
• Good working knowledge of management and authentication systems Tacacs
• knowledge of routing / tunneling protocols and switching technologies, (OSPF, VOIP, VTP, Spanning Tree, L2TP, PPTP, EIGRP)
